[00:00:03] Speaker A: Welcome to the 267th episode of Towelite Talk. This is Chris. [00:00:18] Speaker B: and this is Casey. [00:00:21] Speaker A: And we're back sooner than later this time around because San Diego Comic Con just happened and there's a boat ton of news out there, my friend, and that needs to be talked about. [00:00:35] Speaker B: Yes, absolutely, I agree. [00:00:38] Speaker A: So let's. Let's get right into it because it's gonna be a long show with all of this news. So what are you. What are you geeking out on? [00:00:48] Speaker B: Geeking out on Andor. We finally started, I gotta say, the first two and a half episodes, I had no idea what was happening. I was completely lost. And I go, honestly, I looked at my wife and I was like, there's like cool scenes happening. I don't understand this show. I go, if it doesn't change, I don't think I want to, like, waste my time. Like right now. I was just like, I don't. Because this is the thing. I'm done wasting my time. I'm done. People telling me it takes like four episodes or half a season. It's like, you only have 10. Like, please don't do it. Long story short, it picked up the chill and dance Namo music got us in. And then from then on, it starts getting more. The time. The time jump helped. That's honestly it. And then it's been off to the races. [00:01:42] Speaker A: So, yeah, I'm going to. I was going to say, like, don't stop. Because the way they structured it was so well done. Like, this is what I actually liked a lot more than the first season because I. I watched the first season so late that it just. It was like, oh, it's the greatest thing ever. And so it's like the whole. The whole show for me was a. It was slower, but the way they did this, much better. The pacing's awesome. [00:02:05] Speaker B: Y. [00:02:05] Speaker A: Don't stop. Yep. Don't quit. [00:02:07] Speaker B: No, not stopping. So, you know, geeking out on that. Some new magic has dropped. [00:02:14] Speaker A: It has. [00:02:16] Speaker B: And you know, we geek out on that too. So, yeah, lots of good. Lots of goods. I started Cyber Punk Edge Runners. [00:02:24] Speaker A: Oh, cool. [00:02:26] Speaker B: I want to see, like, for the second season, one, like anime of the year when it came out. So it's like, it's gotta be. It's gotta be worth it. Like, what? Like, with all the great anime that is out there right now, that one of the year. That's where I was like, okay, let me check this out. [00:02:44] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, no, absolutely. Always a reason for me to go and turn that Netflix back on, which I'm. [00:02:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:50] Speaker A: Been Waiting to do so well. Very cool. I've been, I've been playing Final Fantasy 4 as of late. Nice. I went to see Fantastic Four, which we'll talk about in a second. And then I also, I, I noticed that when I was at a theater that they're doing Jaws and imax. [00:03:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:03:14] Speaker A: And I went and bought my ticket because it's favorite movies ever. So obviously on the big screen. I don't think I have. I was thinking about that myself. Like, did I go see it at Alamo? You know, I saw. [00:03:28] Speaker B: Right. [00:03:29] Speaker A: So many good movies. I love from my. Our childhood on the big screen, but I don't think I've ever seen this one. And this is the biggest. The biggest. You're gonna need a bigger screen, so. But yeah, that's, that's not, you know, not too much, but I'm ready to open all of these Edge of Attorneys cards. That's. [00:03:45] Speaker B: That's it. That's it, man. [00:03:49] Speaker A: Tomorrow. We're recording this On Monday, the 20th. Tomorrow is 13 years of defat. So most likely this episode will be dropping on the 13th anniversary of. Don't forget a towel. [00:04:00] Speaker B: Yes. Oh, man. Yeah. That is the big thing to geek out about. It's. It's funny. The, the website, the show. The shows. It's gone through a lot of iterations. I was wearing my Star warriors podcast shirt, and my daughter was like, what is this, father? I told her the legend. So, you know, it's, it's good that we keep it going. You know, it's. I'm just happy to do it when we get to do it. And I'm thankful for all you listeners who, who do come back year after year. Like, I do get feedback from my friends. I'm like, oh, okay. That's cool. [00:04:42] Speaker A: That's good to hear. So thank you, fans. Yeah. Friends. Yeah. [00:04:48] Speaker B: I mean, those are the ones who I see. Maybe, you know, there's other ones. And the. We go to other parts of the country. Even I just. Or the world, rather. [00:04:58] Speaker A: But I don't know. You people in Brazil defend international. But we are. We're here to talk about San Diego Comic Con today, and we're gonna get right into the news. But first, I just want to get this, these fantastic four first steps reactions out of the way. We could probably spend a show on it, as we always say. But I, I, I begged you the other day just to talk to me about it. So we didn't end up talking about it for an hour because I knew there was some kind of debate over. [00:05:30] Speaker B: This we got it out. We got it out there. [00:05:33] Speaker A: So go ahead. Go ahead. Listen, I. I. Let me just put it this way. I loved it. I didn't think it was good as Superman. It did everything for me. And then I'll react to everything you say that way. [00:05:47] Speaker B: It's no, because all of those are true statements. And I felt the same way. I just. I think the biggest thing for me was, and I know a lot of people have felt differently, is that Pedro just felt too much like Pedro Pascal being Joel being, you know, Din Jardin being, you know, all he has been in such recent pop culture. Like, he gets a cast in everything. And it's like, I never liked it from the announcement. I was like, huh, That's a. And even. Even. What's her name? Vanessa Kirby, right? [00:06:22] Speaker A: Yeah, her name's. [00:06:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, I was like, that's Sue. She's, like, so pretty, but, like, I don't know. I didn't expect. I don't know. She's got, like, such an odd, like, pretty face. But she took over the role for me, and I was. She's my favorite part of the movie. And she felt like sue, whereas he just never felt like Reed entirely. He tried a lot. [00:06:45] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:45] Speaker B: There's some read things in it, for sure. [00:06:48] Speaker A: I. I didn't think as much about it until you brought that up. And I. And I would say, yeah, it was disappointing not to see more Mr. Fantastic Powers. Like, I like Reed Richards do the powers, man. Yeah, right. You're not just a stretchy guy. Like, yo. You know, there's so much more. So much more. The Sue. It's the best iteration we've seen. I mean, Sue Storm is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe, and they showed it finally instead of her. [00:07:21] Speaker B: Yeah, I loved it. [00:07:22] Speaker A: Damsel or, like, the second, you know, the mom of the team or whatever. It was a really good way to do it. And I think that Vanessa Kirby did a great job in that role. She did so much more that it, like, overshadowed even the Thing, and. And. And Johnny Storm, which were both really. [00:07:37] Speaker B: Good, but they all had their own thing to do, too. [00:07:39] Speaker A: They did great. [00:07:40] Speaker B: Everyone was. And it was awesome. [00:07:43] Speaker A: Movie looked great. It was a science fiction romp. I, like. I was not. There were some things, like with Superman, where I got dizzy from the cgi. I didn't feel it at all in this movie. I felt it was really fluid. Yeah, Galactus was great. Silver Surfer was great. I just. I. I just. And I loved how much they. They leaned into the Kirby. They Built that future modern or the mid century futuristic world. [00:08:10] Speaker B: Yeah, the Jetsons. [00:08:12] Speaker A: Right. And it was just, I think just. And then talking about all their villains and the way they did it was very like, we're talking about these comic book movies and this is why, like when you said safe, I said, all right. I kind of feel the opposite. Because they've always been more safe with, with comic book movies and try to like make it real and make it like relatable to our society so that people who aren't into this stuff can get into it easier. I don't believe in that because why did people get into this fantastical stuff to begin with? And that movie just left me with like this, like this awe of the, of what they delivered finally as like a Marvel comic book movie. [00:08:52] Speaker B: So, yeah, I mean, it, it, like you said, it delivered what it needed to deliver. It got the fans excited for what's going to come next with this doomsday, which we'll be talking about for the next year. But you know, I, I saw Jurassic park or Jurassic World Rebirth and I was more excited. Both Nish and I were like, wow, that was an exciting movie. Like, did I expect that? Yeah, it was like, okay, everybody has said it's the best one since the first one. And it, it just is, it's just a, it doesn't re. Like it's in the world, of course, but like it. Its own separate story. It doesn't even have to have a sequel. Like, there's no, there's no setup of a sequel. It's just like this is just a adventure that happens to be with a bunch of dinosaurs and it's an, you know, action horror adventure. Gareth Edwards, you know, directed it. [00:09:46] Speaker A: Oh, he did. [00:09:47] Speaker B: He's never, he's never disappointed. [00:09:49] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:50] Speaker B: So I was like, oh, I forgot he directed this. So, yeah, we both were like, now that was thrilling. And I never got that from Fantastic Four, unfortunately. [00:09:59] Speaker A: Okay. [00:09:59] Speaker B: Never. Never reached the thrills. [00:10:02] Speaker A: Well, now you've made me want to go see the Jurassic park movie because. [00:10:05] Speaker B: You know, it was worth it. Yeah, it really was. [00:10:07] Speaker A: All right, all right, fine. You've done your job today. All right. Onto the news. Isaac Wakanda is going to be dropping in 2026 animated series and I'm sorry, is it in August? It's in August. August, yeah, it's next month. Next year actually. [00:10:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:28] Speaker A: This looks great. [00:10:29] Speaker B: Does it? [00:10:31] Speaker A: Just was an iron fist in there, I'm pretty sure. [00:10:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:37] Speaker A: Can't wait for this. I, yeah. Adult animation, four part. It's just Gonna be a lot of fun. [00:10:43] Speaker B: Yep. Yeah. I like the animation style and like D.C. i like, will change. You know, they'll mix it up. They'll have an anime in there. They'll have like a cartoon cartoon, you know, like, I like DC animation way more than Marvel, but what they've been leaning into with that style since it. What if. What if? Right. It's just gotten more crisp and better as it's been going on. [00:11:09] Speaker A: Yeah, can't wait for that. Another thing I can't wait for is the another Punisher comic book series has been announced even since we just did the last show when you were like, maybe they should do Marvel Knights Punisher. And then it just, you know, it just happened. So thank you for that. This is set in the. The world of where Joe Ca and Christopher Priest are right now doing the Marvel Knights the World to Come series with Wakanda Black Panther. And so Jimmy Palmiotti and Dan Panosian will be writing, writing and doing the art on this title. So launches in October. [00:11:47] Speaker B: Yeah, great team up on that. And obviously I'm never going to say no to more Punisher. I think I love about Punisher is that they do ongoing sometimes and they'll last a bit, but like it's really better told in these little four, six part vignettes. That's always been Punisher's thing and I think Iron Fist needs to get that treatment too, where it's like, don't go ongoing, it never works. But just give him his own little stories. [00:12:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Anything up to 12 issues, I think works really well. [00:12:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:20] Speaker A: 4, 6, 12, 12. [00:12:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:22] Speaker A: Maxi series are great. [00:12:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:24] Speaker A: Yeah. Because I think what that more immortal Iron Fist. Each one was 12 issues. [00:12:29] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:30] Speaker A: Like book value for whatever. [00:12:32] Speaker B: Yeah, like, that's fine. [00:12:34] Speaker A: So looking forward to it. Can't wait. Subscribe to that immediately. So Marvel is celebrating 70 years of the Muppets. And you and I love the Muppets and we love these variant covers. [00:12:46] Speaker B: Yes. [00:12:46] Speaker A: I'm a big sucker for variant covers. Especially when you got like things like the Swedish Chef as a Wolverine cover. [00:12:53] Speaker B: Yep. [00:12:54] Speaker A: Or Dr. Cover is just so good. They're all like, at first, like, I love The Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Hulk one. [00:13:04] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:13:04] Speaker A: It's a great one. [00:13:05] Speaker B: That's. Yeah. [00:13:06] Speaker A: But the, the Captain America one actually grew on me too, because Sam the Eagle is a really great pick for that and it's really appropriate. So. And the Arton, like some of these will make me want to get them. Like the Silver Surfer. [00:13:18] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:13:20] Speaker A: I mean, come on. [00:13:21] Speaker B: Hilarious. [00:13:22] Speaker A: Really cool idea. These go on sale also in October, so, you know, pre orders will be open soon for them. And there'll be more. There'll be 10 covers in total. [00:13:33] Speaker B: Can't wait, cannot wait. [00:13:35] Speaker A: Can't wait to spend more money jumping over to the other side of the pond. Peacemaker Season 2. Another August thing to look forward to. Got a Comic Con trailer. This dives a little bit more into what the, you know, what this season's gonna be about. More plot lines than the last couple. But I'm pumped for this show. I watched this anyways, because first I was like, no, but then, whatever. I've already spoiled myself before, so I love you. [00:14:05] Speaker B: Sold me on this show. [00:14:07] Speaker A: Yeah, right. Do you. Do you like it? Did you like the first season? [00:14:12] Speaker B: We really did. It's, you know, this is a bit James Gunn in it, but overall, the characters grow on you and, you know, going into Creature Commando and then like. Like, they're really tying that world together, which I like. [00:14:28] Speaker A: He's just. He can just write a bunch of characters really well. And he showed that. Guardians, of course, but the Suicide Squad. [00:14:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:39] Speaker A: Like, you just finished Creature Commandos and that. I'll tell you right now, that was one of my favorite things of last of it this year, whatever came out, I think it's this, that show. Yeah, just show was, like, pleasantly surprising to me, and it was just so well written and the characters are really great. And that's what actually really got me excited for Superman even more, was that I do trust James Gunn and his writing. So it's good. But speaking. Go ahead. [00:15:08] Speaker B: No, no, I just does it. Completely agreeing with you. [00:15:11] Speaker A: Awesome. So Superman and now Supergirl is the next movie in the DC films. And we got us the Supergirl poster right after. Right after the movie, right after Superman came out. Shows her. She's definitely a different Supergirl than a lot of people are going to be used to. But I love that. Kind of, like, I love the direction they're taking her in, honestly. And I won't go into spoilers because it's the only. Superman's pretty fresh still, so people are still. [00:15:48] Speaker B: That movie's making a lot of money. You definitely proved me wrong on that. I was like. I was like, yeah, it's doing good domestically, but it's not doing internationally. But then, like, the domestic numbers just kept getting bigger and I think, well, don't even have to think about it. Like, we know it's word of mouth because, you know, I think it really did take, like, you and other people to Be like, no, this is really great. And then I. I already had low expectation because it was Superman, but I. I was like, holy. This might. It might be my movie of the year right now. Like, I love that movie. [00:16:24] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, me too. Me too. [00:16:27] Speaker B: I mean, Sinners is up there too. [00:16:28] Speaker A: But Sinners, it's so good. Also from the Superman world, which now everything's gonna be greenlit because it's like, all right. Yeah, we're good. We got a hit. We did it. [00:16:44] Speaker B: That's it. They did it. [00:16:47] Speaker A: I don't. I forgot what the actor's name is who plays Jimmy Olsen, but I do like this rumor because I did like his Jimmy Olsen. [00:16:54] Speaker B: And, yeah, I like that idea. [00:16:57] Speaker A: Right. So this is. This is cool. This is kind of like a Superman spin off series for Jimmy Olsen is reportedly in the works. So this isn't confirmed yet, but it's set to be a crime anthology series focused on different DC villains. Now, I usually. There's, like these. When they do a Jimmy Olsen comic, they're always, like, well written. Like, I forgot who did the last one. [00:17:19] Speaker B: Fraction. [00:17:21] Speaker A: Was it Fraction, or. It was either that or King, I'm not sure was one of them. And I loved it. So I'd. I'd love to see something like this as well, which I think it's a very important character. It was something that the Zack Snyderverse just took away almost these iconic characters from the world, and he's one of them. [00:17:41] Speaker B: Skyler Gisondo. That's the guy. [00:17:44] Speaker A: Yeah. I was never gonna remember that name. [00:17:46] Speaker B: Yeah, sorry. Yeah, whatever. That kid doing that idea. [00:17:51] Speaker A: Sure, I'll watch it. Absolutely. So Anna Nogira, who wrote Supergirl and James Gunn, seemingly trusts her to now write Wonder Woman. So since they're fast tracking that movie. This is. This is great to hear. She's also writing the Teen Titans script. So she's just writing up a storm. [00:18:17] Speaker B: That's. You know what, though? I love this idea because, like, if she gets it, then she gets it. You know what I mean? Like, why not? Like, it's okay. I like to hear, you know, different voices of people, but also, like, if the voice is working, Matt Fraction can write all sorts of different superheroes, and it's worked several times. So has Kevin Smith. You know what I mean? Like, hey, Tom King could write a ton of different characters. [00:18:48] Speaker A: And that's why the argument is always like, are you a. Are you a character fan or are you a fan of writing? Because I would. I'll jump books for writers. [00:18:57] Speaker B: Oh, absolutely. [00:18:58] Speaker A: You know, so. [00:19:00] Speaker B: Absolutely either. [00:19:02] Speaker A: Either way is fine. Next up for Superman World, which just renamed the Superman DC I shared with you today. I. I kind of missed these in the movie. These giant murals in the hall of justice featuring heroes of the past, including Madame Xanadu, Silent Night, Miss Liberty, Bullet Girl, Bullet Guy, whatever, El Diablo, Sandman, all of, like. And then all the way up to Maxwell Lord, which is really funny at the end that he's in there because he puts himself on there. This is cool. Just the nods to, like, obscurity, the fact that they've. They have this established world, which. I really appreciate that movie. Now, seeing these, it makes me more excited about what's to come. [00:19:56] Speaker B: Yeah, I had. I had seen Wildcat, and that was the only one that I recognized. [00:20:01] Speaker A: Oh, really? [00:20:02] Speaker B: And, yeah, and I was like, oh. Because it was like, come on, they're in this place. They gotta show something. Like, let me pay attention to the walls and. But, like, you know, the obscure characters, which, of course, is like James Gunn's bread and butter. Like, that's where I'm like, what are they gonna do when they said that 300 years they've been around. I'm like, what? Like that. Apparently humans know this. [00:20:26] Speaker A: 3,000 years, wasn't it? [00:20:28] Speaker B: No, I think it was 300. I think it was three centuries. [00:20:32] Speaker A: Okay, maybe they've known. I thought it was. [00:20:35] Speaker B: I think it was metahumans 3. I gotta look that up. [00:20:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Either way. Either way, it's. It was kind of perplexing how. But it's also like, hey, people don't need these origins. We need a world. Stop making us wait for this world to be established. Just tell us stories. [00:20:53] Speaker B: Right, right. 300 years. [00:20:56] Speaker A: 300 years. Okay. Yeah, that's cool. Next up, we have the Booster Gold. HBO series is progressing. Moving forward with a pilot written by the R Flag Mean Death creator, David Jenkins. [00:21:13] Speaker B: I've heard that show's hilarious. And we need Booster Go to be funny. Right. So, like, this makes sense. [00:21:20] Speaker A: Exactly. And I will just patiently wait for that show to come out and just very happy to hear these kind of announcements are happening. So, yes, green light everything. Next up, we have Aztec Batman, a trailer that dropped at ComicCon. We have. You know what? They got the Ninja Batman. They got Aztec Batman. This looked fun enough. Do I need it? No, but I'll watch it after I watch Batman Ninja, which I haven't even done yet. [00:21:57] Speaker B: So you watched the first Batman Ninja, right? [00:22:00] Speaker A: I tried. I turned it off. Okay. Okay. [00:22:04] Speaker B: Yeah. I actually started Yakuza the other night, but then I was like, it was way too late. But I did watch the first one. It was weird. It was. It was okay, though. [00:22:15] Speaker A: That was coherent. Yes. No, I agree. I just. I want to get to the second Batman Ninja because I really want to watch what you told me about, like, the Justice League is like, feudal lords and stuff like that, so. Yeah, it's okay. This is. It looks violent. It looks bloody. So, hey, whatever. No, DC Animation hasn't really failed us. So next up, we have. Sorry, Absolute Green Arrow. And more are coming from the Absolute Universe. Now we have this other teaser that we'll talk about in a second called. It's the KO Event, the King Omega. And so whatever created the Absolute World, I didn't read that event, but this is starting to tie in everything to a. And also expand the Absolute Universe. So it sounds like fun. And so Green Arrow, it will be. The next main character is going to get a series, and then there's a couple one shots as well, hitting in October. Absolute Evil. And let's see. Don't have the other one, but awesome. I do like the Absolute World. It's just a lot to keep up on. [00:23:44] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, listen, I. I love Green Arrow, though, so that right there might be worth, like, if. If I don't have to dive into the whole world, though I did see that Wonder Woman is, like, kicking ass, so I do want to check that out, too. [00:24:02] Speaker A: I did start it. I started all of them with the first few issues. I read Batman a little bit longer, but I fell off, you know, all of them. I'd like to go back and catch up because there's, like, the. I like the little changes they make. And then, you know, Martian Manhunter came out and Green Lantern came out, so it's on a good track. But also, the DCKO event, they're saying it's like Squid Game meets Mortal Kombat. So it kind of reminded me, like, the idea of, like, Secret wars where it's just like, are they all gonna battle each other? Like. [00:24:35] Speaker B: Right. [00:24:36] Speaker A: Do the Absolute characters come over in battle? Yeah, I. I don't know, but it's. It's cool. Darkseid's coming back, so that's always good or not good for them. [00:24:49] Speaker B: Okay, When's the start? Sorry. [00:24:53] Speaker A: Next year maybe. I don't know. Okay, let's see. Well, I'll check it out. Exactly. Exactly. Next up, we have in Star Wars News, we just got to look at Mall Shadowlord. A picture from the show would have rather had a trailer, but whatever I'll look for. I'LL watch this gladly. [00:25:19] Speaker B: Yeah, I will. Just because like again, talking about animation, it does get better every iteration that they do. Like, the bad batch was still really goodlook as that animation style gets better and better. So. And it's, it's small. Let's see what they do. [00:25:36] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, yeah, I mean, maybe, you know, like it's time. I mean, he's there. I gonna use them. Like. Yeah, they want to build that world out. It's extremely popular. [00:25:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:25:52] Speaker A: So I don't know. But speaking of the bad batch, that first comic series from Dark Horse was a success. Awesome. I'm sorry. And so now they're gonna be doing the bad batch, Ghost Agents and. And another one. See, I don't. What I don't understand about this is this is more like the, the young adult comics, I think, that come from this world, but nonetheless, I mean, they're not. The Marvel is like the main run of Star wars stuff. And then IDW had that. [00:26:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:26] Speaker A: The, the license and then Dark Horse gained it. So they're doing more of like that young adult. [00:26:33] Speaker B: Okay. I mean, that's fine. You know, continues the characters. Continues for the fans. [00:26:39] Speaker A: Yeah, no, absolutely, absolutely. Star Trek had a really big presence at San Diego. And so first up was the. That strange new world season five will lead right up to. It's a. It's a prequel to the Kirk, you know, so they're gonna finish it out as like tying and you know, tying up these story lines and then starting to kind of bleed into the original series. But will they continue the show? And I think that's what they really. They said that's kind of the plan at this point. And so. Because when you start watching the original series, it's just there, right. There's no origin, there's no Year one or anything like that. So they want. That's what they'd like to do. How did those characters end up in the, you know, in the original series. Right, like that. So, yeah, it makes sense if you're gonna end. And you're gonna end Strange Worlds. [00:27:40] Speaker B: Yep. I love that idea. [00:27:43] Speaker A: Season four, they did a cute little puppet preview. We're gonna get another puppet episode. So looking forward to that. [00:27:51] Speaker B: I love. I. Last time we saw that was Angel, I think, or at least I remember. And it was. [00:27:58] Speaker A: Oh, you haven't watched Stranger Worlds, have you? [00:28:00] Speaker B: No, not like all the way. [00:28:03] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Cuz they, They've already done a puppet episode. [00:28:06] Speaker B: Oh, they've already done a puppet episode. [00:28:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [00:28:08] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:28:09] Speaker A: Well, good for that. Yep. It's good. Lots of puppets out there. Also, we got a preview for the Starfleet Academy. That's 2026. That look, that's a great, that's a great trailer. So the premise is, is that they are restarting Starfleet. This is a Discovery spin off. So in Discovery, the Federation reforms basically because it had been dissolved. And so this is the very first class of new Starfleet when it's reopening. It's awesome. Like Paul Giovanni is an alien. Like the trailer is really cool. Like the, the stuff. Yeah, it looks like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to this show. [00:28:57] Speaker B: So that's a smart show idea. I always love more Star Trek. [00:29:04] Speaker A: I always wonder why I didn't do a Starfleet Academy show. It's like a no brainer. So yeah, I mean at some point. [00:29:13] Speaker B: Like you'll get a Klingon show, a Romulan show. You know what I mean? Like that take like, like let's learn more about these different cultures. Like I'm surprised we haven't gotten a, a bad guy show yet with a villain. That's like freaking sweet. [00:29:26] Speaker A: Like supposed to. You're supposed to. Right in that section 31 movie. That was supposed to be a miniseries. Right? But anyways, speaking of Khan though, Khan is getting a audio. Audiobook. Audio drama. So we've been hinting at this for a long time and finally they put out a trailer for it at Comic Con. Naveen Andrews is Khan. George Takai is in it as, you know, as Sulu. Even Tuvok is in this one. So it's. It's kind of a. This is really interesting because we like to listen to this kind of stuff on trips or road trips and stuff. So checking this one out, it's a podcast, so means it's free, right? [00:30:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:13] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:30:14] Speaker B: Sweet. [00:30:15] Speaker A: Good stuff. Good stuff. Let's jump over to Crowd Sorcery. I threw this one in here because this is awesome. It was. It's already funded. It's at 181,000 of 10,000. It's called Dungeon Box. If you like jackbox games and Dungeons and Dragons, this is awesome. Little party game play with on your phones. You know, like you do with Jackbox. Last time I saw the stretch goals got on, they got unlocked were character customization. So this is already looking awesome and I can't wait. [00:30:53] Speaker B: Okay, sweet. I did not pay attention to this and now I'm going to. [00:30:59] Speaker A: We could play together. [00:31:01] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:31:02] Speaker A: That's a fun way to do it. So we'll leave the link in there for that. And then also the Dragon King, which is what, what is this new. An epic new animated series from the creators of the Dragon Prince. That makes sense. [00:31:18] Speaker B: Yeah, they. So the show is. I don't know how they're doing it. The show is on Netflix. The Dragon Prince. [00:31:25] Speaker A: Right. [00:31:25] Speaker B: But maybe they aren't allowed to take the rights of the characters and the creators can go and do what they want, which is what it seems to do, which is like basically they're trying to fund a new season. [00:31:39] Speaker A: Strange, right? Huh? [00:31:41] Speaker B: Yeah, but I love that show. So I'm really kind of like okay with this idea. [00:31:47] Speaker A: All right, it's coming soon. No word on when. [00:31:50] Speaker B: So this is the notify on launch link. [00:31:53] Speaker A: All right, sign up for that one. All right, well after that, all that exciting, we're going to take a commercial break and then we're going to come back and talk about all of the other news. So we'll see you back here. And Casey, what time is. [00:33:48] Speaker B: Is time for the pursuit of plastic. [00:33:52] Speaker A: First up, Fantastic Four for steps. The Getting Hot Toys. All four of them. And Herbie. [00:33:59] Speaker B: Yeah, this makes sense. They look great. Especially the Thing. That's a showcase piece right there, right? Yeah, that's. And the Galactus is on the way, of course, because why wouldn't you. [00:34:14] Speaker A: Who. Who can afford this stuff? Oh my God. That's always like my question. [00:34:19] Speaker B: It's massive too. 70 centimeters. [00:34:24] Speaker A: Wow. Massive. [00:34:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:34:30] Speaker A: Also, the Back to the Future, the Time train from part three is coming from Bandai. This looks pretty neat. 56 LEDs to recreate the iconic on screen lighting. Motorized steampunk elements as well as authentic steam locomotive sounds that sync with the train's movement. [00:34:52] Speaker B: It's crazy. [00:34:52] Speaker A: Okay. Oh, little figures too. This is crazy. Yeah. [00:35:00] Speaker B: Not my favorite Back to the Future movie, but the fact that they made this and that it. They seem to have put a lot of effort into it. Like that's just a pretty cool idea. [00:35:09] Speaker A: I agree. I agree. Next up, also a great idea. There's a Game Boy. It's coming with two. Two cartridges. Lenticular screen. Cool idea. People sit. But though people do think you can like actually play it, which is funny. [00:35:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Honestly, I wish you could. I was like, oh my God, how did they do it? But that Lego man inside were it. Yeah. I honestly this one again, just continuing what they did. Nintendo and I think Atari. Like it's cool. It's a cool idea. [00:35:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Each one of those become more and more popular. [00:35:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:35:55] Speaker A: So they're. People are buying them Star Trek. We just talked about a bunch of stuff from that. But also Nacelle who decided that they're just gonna put out very like random characters from all the different shows and movies and stuff like that. The normal things you wouldn't see as figures. The first two series apparently sold very well because now they've announced three and four. [00:36:21] Speaker B: These are great characters. Like well, three. [00:36:24] Speaker A: Right. So three is. Three is like they're giving you the whole original crew for the. For the anniversary. So that's really cool. Yeah. Great idea. And then wave four, you're getting. Finally getting some crazy stuff like, like Dr. Crusher and yeah. Herman from Generations. You got Tom Paris, almost popular characters. And also Captain Cisco which I'll probably. [00:36:52] Speaker B: Just buy that one. [00:36:54] Speaker A: But yeah. Oh, and then Data, they're doing more of those from the. From the pirate episode. You know, just like, hey, that was just the scene from the beginning of this episode. Let's make all of the figures from it. Very, very cool. Great idea. And I'm glad that Nacelle is being. Is successful with this because they always seen the fall off with those. With that license. [00:37:15] Speaker B: They I. Their articulation's great. The sculpting's great. Like these are good, good figures. [00:37:22] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm like, do I get that Captain Kirk on the horse from From Generations. I don't know. [00:37:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:28] Speaker A: Yep. Mask we got from the loyal subjects recently. I think it was like early July. [00:37:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:38] Speaker A: They put out the first wave of figures. You can get like an exclusive bundle on Big bad toy store. They're still up for pre order I ordered. I forgot what the car is called. The Condor, I think. I think so, yeah. [00:37:51] Speaker B: Condor. [00:37:51] Speaker A: Yeah. So with Met Tracker, the Condor. I got that. The original one, the red one. Because it's like this is what I'm gonna get from the set. I really want that. It's like the one I really remember from our kit from our childhood. That semi one I remember a little bit as well. But wave two has been announced, so that's even better with the Jackhammer and the hurricane coming this time around. And also they just showcased 40th anniversary of the show. And so they're getting repaints for a lot of the. The first wave. [00:38:24] Speaker B: Yeah. These. This is hard. I've tried not jump on this because some of this stuff is my childhood right here. And this. This waves hard to pass up. [00:38:36] Speaker A: It's very cool. And it just. I mean they make them look like the originals. It's. Yeah, it's. I think that's even better. And the. And the boxing is. Is the same. So tugging at that nostalgia. [00:38:49] Speaker B: That wallet. [00:38:50] Speaker A: That's right. Continuing the crazy crossovers they've been doing with all sorts of figures as of late, you, Ninja Turtles and Godzilla are crossing over. And these look awesome. I don't know why we need them, but I kind of do. I like especially that. Leonardo is Godzilla at least. Raphael is Rodan. Michelangelo is King Ghidoro with only one head. I think from what I can see. Strangely. [00:39:17] Speaker B: No Donnie though, like, not yet. [00:39:19] Speaker A: They're like Garrett. [00:39:21] Speaker B: Yeah. So I. You know, they're good for the people. [00:39:26] Speaker A: Who want to collect those. [00:39:30] Speaker B: I know you will be in that. [00:39:31] Speaker A: In that group, maybe one. Right? Yeah. Because even like most. I mean that's the thing is like I need to. I can't do it or else I'll buy them. All right. Yeah. Yeah. [00:39:44] Speaker B: But the guys crossovers. Leo. Godzilla is the best one for sure. [00:39:48] Speaker A: Yeah. It looks cool, right? I think that'd be a neat one to kind of. It is just get. [00:39:53] Speaker B: Which. Yeah. [00:39:55] Speaker A: Another. What was the other thing we just saw? Whatever. Anyways. Oh, it was the. It was the Transformers and Motu that had been announced already. But they. They had some photos from the actual ones come out of Comic Con. I was like, man. I was like, good. This. The Megatron one was awesome. [00:40:19] Speaker B: Yes. [00:40:19] Speaker A: So I love that. So I don't know. I. No, just show me the GI Joe Transformer crossover figures already. The ones that you promised this year. And I'm good. I'm good on the crossovers. Anyways. Comic books, Ninja Turtles, it's been doing great. They're. They're speaking of crossover with Godzilla. There's going to be comic book version of it. [00:40:45] Speaker B: Yep. [00:40:46] Speaker A: So I thought that was really funny that that was announced. But the other big news is that Jason Aaron's run is coming to an end. It will relaunch, quote unquote, with issue 13 this December with Jean Lun Yang and Freddie E. Williams II on art. So. [00:41:08] Speaker B: Okay, cool. [00:41:09] Speaker A: Yeah, it was a good relaunch. I have, I have them and I've yet to read them, so I need to get on that. That's good. [00:41:18] Speaker B: Listen, we're all here for it. You'll catch up. [00:41:21] Speaker A: Exactly. Exactly. That's all we have is time right now. Also. TMNT Battle Nexus is a five week event featuring iconic characters from across the multiverse. This looks pretty cool. It's in November comes the Godzilla versus Turtles. That's Tim Seeley. And that's. That's it. So good. It's great. [00:41:46] Speaker B: Good time to be a Turtles fan. [00:41:48] Speaker A: I mean, 40 years. [00:41:49] Speaker B: Like we're eating good right now on everything. [00:41:53] Speaker A: It's like a geek. Geek buffet. [00:41:55] Speaker B: 35Th anniversary. He's coming back to theaters in August. Man. [00:41:59] Speaker A: I know. That was the other thing I was gonna say when I was done. Yeah, that's what I was gonna say about when I was talking about Jaws. I'm like, there's a bunch of these movies coming back to theaters right now. I need to do it, so. Oh, yeah. And like Shin Godzilla, they're re releasing in the theater. Which I didn't get to see in theater when. [00:42:18] Speaker B: Yeah, I didn't get to see that either. [00:42:20] Speaker A: So anyways, Dynamite Entertainment has gotten the rights to Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics. So Kelly Thompson will be writing a Buffy and an angel series. Apparently these are not reboots. Awesome. But the new show coming out that, you know, just the casting for that. Buffy's back in the zeitgeist. [00:42:48] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, I love it. Very excited getting Buffy and Angel comics. And they take place while she's in high school. And they're just kind of these little stories that are in there. I don't know. They didn't really kind of say canon or not canon. You know what I mean? Like, whereas season eight from. [00:43:12] Speaker A: Right. [00:43:12] Speaker B: It was doing the Dark Horse that was all canon and then we got the new reboot and then now this. I think they just kind of like. I think these ones are more in canon, but taking place in the first season. [00:43:26] Speaker A: That'd be cool. Good idea. And then Johnny Depp is teaming up with Ridley Scott for a graphic novel series called Hyde, which of course is based on Robert Louis Louis Stevenson's strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This is all star team up here, right? It's going to be Melon cup from Mechanical Cake. The first installment will drop this Halloween, kicking off with a two volume graphic novel series, Jesse Negron, created by Mechanical Cake CEO Jesse Negron. [00:44:08] Speaker B: This is insane. Okay, Weird. I guess this is cool because it's kind of like maybe they'll do it into a movie or something later, you know what I mean? Like, he was supposed to be part of the Dark universe, is the Invisible man now he can just switch over. [00:44:25] Speaker A: Dr. Yeah, it's an interesting. It's an interesting character to. To do this with too. Especially with, like Ridley Scott being attached to it. Like that's. That speaks right there. It's like, what are you. Yeah, you're just doing storyboards for this. Get ready for this. Yeah, well, check it out. This Halloween, speaking of also Halloween and Johnny Depp things, idw. Dark has been revealed and there'll be several horror series coming out of this new imprint and including Sleepy Hollow, Return to Sleepy Hollow, the direct sequel to the Tim Burton film. Cool idea. [00:45:09] Speaker B: Yeah, really, really cool idea. I like that. They're all different. You know, we were getting Twilight Zone. It's gonna be an anthology series too, which I saw event horizon, 30 days a night. Like, we're getting some franchises that some started in comics, like 30 Days a Night. You know what I mean? And some are like new. I don't know. It's a. It's a cool idea. [00:45:34] Speaker A: Absolutely, absolutely. And then we have a new section just for this week because. Called audiobooks. This one's called your favorite Scary movie. Ghostface. Actor Roger L. Jackson is gonna be narrating an audiobook about the Scream franchise. And this is dropping on August 19th. [00:45:59] Speaker B: That's cool. Like Scream is still alive and kicking. I think that'll be really nice for us Scream fans to kind of get that. That's a cool idea. [00:46:10] Speaker A: And so it's written by journalist and author Ashley Collins. Cool stuff. And jumping over TV streaming news. I guess we've separated this into sections now since there's so much of it. [00:46:22] Speaker B: Right. [00:46:24] Speaker A: First up, Netflix this. Actually, I did not Watch this trailer yet? Stranger Things Season 5 got its next trailer. Final trailer. It's coming. When does this. When does season five drop? [00:46:35] Speaker B: Think it's like, November, then it's Christmas, and then New Year's. [00:46:41] Speaker A: Not soon enough. Okay. Yeah. How many episodes are they gonna drop? A few episodes at a time. How do they do that last? [00:46:49] Speaker B: I think it's like the movies. Like an hour and a half, two hour movies. So 1, 2, 3. Why the end? [00:46:59] Speaker A: That's cool, man. [00:47:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:47:01] Speaker A: It's almost like that's the way to do the finale. It's just. Yeah. Instead of just these individual episodes, let them run over into long episodes. [00:47:13] Speaker B: Did you watch Fear Street? [00:47:14] Speaker A: I didn't, but I was just gonna say that it's like that, right? Yeah, I will. Oh, good. All right. [00:47:20] Speaker B: It's just so. It's just a really cool idea. It's just. It's one big story, you know, over Tyree parts. [00:47:29] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, I know. Just remind me in October. [00:47:33] Speaker B: Okay. [00:47:36] Speaker A: Next up is Assassin's Creed. A liveaction series has been ordered at Netflix. And so, you know, could be better than the movie, probably, so. [00:47:48] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:47:49] Speaker A: Yeah, it could be. [00:47:52] Speaker B: We'll see how this. This goes. You know, I. I didn't watch the movie, so I don't know what this is gonna mean. Especially because Assassin's Creed, now there's, what, 43 games? Like, when does it take place? Is it going back to the beginning? Like, do they even talk about, like, you being in, like, this fake Avatar thing anymore? Like, is that still part of the series, or do they just go right into it? [00:48:21] Speaker A: It's. It's just gotten less and less. It's still. Okay. It was a. It was. It's become a much smaller part of it. So far in Shadows, they did stuff in Valhalla with, you know, they've done it, but when they moved to this open world. [00:48:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:38] Speaker A: Format. You just. You don't get it as much, which is a complaint by a lot of the fans as well. So, I mean, my take on this, the best idea might be just to do something new and don't try to adapt anything you've already done. [00:48:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:55] Speaker A: Like, you set these different stories within the world. Why don't you just do one that's a TV show and then have it connected to the games, you know, So I would. It's. It's dangerous to touch things that are, like, sacred to people, and that's also how you kind of get screwed up anyways, you know, So I would just do something new completely. Yeah. [00:49:21] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, you're. We'll see what. What they decide to do, but it's a long standing franchise, so they can take it in a million different directions. [00:49:31] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. And then Wednesday, season three, what is it? [00:49:38] Speaker B: It's coming. [00:49:38] Speaker A: Coming out or the announce? [00:49:39] Speaker B: Yeah, it's coming out in the next. They had a new trailer for it, which unfortunately I didn't watch, but it's expected two parts, August and September for the second season. [00:49:54] Speaker A: Okay, maybe. Yeah, that's probably the first one of the first things that my wife wants to watch when we turn on Netflix anyways, so maybe I'll get watched before it's good. Yeah, sure. Exactly. That's what I've heard and I trust you. And also Gen V. Now we're jumping on Amazon stuff. I have not watched that either. And I need to get on that because I still need to watch at least a season of the boys. So season two drops on September 17th. Yeah. [00:50:26] Speaker B: I cannot wait. I rest in peace to that actor who passed away in between seasons. I didn't watch the trailer yet, so I don't know if they address it because he's a integral part of that show. So I don't know. I don't know how they were gonna handle that. But I am excited to see how they continue this universe with the boys. [00:50:49] Speaker A: Cool. [00:50:49] Speaker B: He's a good actor too. He was on Sabrina. Super tragic. Young. [00:50:57] Speaker A: Too much, I guess. Amazon also thinks that they can recreate success from Fallout and do a Wolfenstein TV series. So I love Wolfenstein games. I just, you know, they're like, oh, video games are hot. Let's make a. Let's make a Wolfenstein show about shooting Nazis, which we definitely need these days. [00:51:23] Speaker B: You know what's kind of crazy is like it might do wildly well not even being that good. [00:51:29] Speaker A: Just. [00:51:30] Speaker B: Just like just inglorious bastards. Just. Just go in and just start killing Nazis left and right. The most evil Nazis people will be happy. [00:51:42] Speaker A: Perfect. Perfect. Yeah. Yeah. So that's. That's been announced at Comic Con. And then the mighty Nan. Nan. Critical role. [00:51:54] Speaker B: Nine. [00:51:55] Speaker A: Nine. Hey. And so this is the spin off from the stuff. What is the show called? The. [00:52:06] Speaker B: Oh, man. The Critical Role Show. Isn't that what it called? [00:52:10] Speaker A: I think so. I think so. Yeah. [00:52:12] Speaker B: I think, I think you're right. [00:52:13] Speaker A: Is it then that's it. The show that we've only watched a few episodes of and then regret not watching. But yeah, this is funny. Same humor, same same animation. If you're into it, then you'll definitely be looking forward to this. [00:52:28] Speaker B: Oh, the Legend vox machine. [00:52:29] Speaker A: That's right. I was like, it's not called that. [00:52:31] Speaker B: It's not called that. Yeah, we got that. [00:52:34] Speaker A: Nice. Speaking of buffing the Vampire Slayer, the reboot, pilot reboot. I'm gonna put that in quotes, air quotes, because it's not. It's five to the cast and they're on a roll. We got Fela. I don't want to go through his name, so I can't even pronounce them. [00:52:56] Speaker B: Don't worry about it. [00:52:58] Speaker A: I'm not gonna just sit here and butcher them. So what do you think? It's happening. [00:53:06] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, they announced a bunch of young actors for the most part, and I don't know. You know what I mean? Like, I'm excited to. To see what they do with this. You know what I mean? She tweeted Sarah Michelle Geller tweeted out a photo of her at the first table read last week, and I was like, okay, like, this is. This is happening. So, yeah. Cautiously optimistic. [00:53:36] Speaker A: All right, let's. That's all you can be. So we have a new series coming out in the Avatar world. And not the blue people one, but the. The, you know, the benders. Avatar 7. Heaven haven. Seven havens. Well, it'll be taking place after Legend of Korra from Nickelodeon. And hey, whatever. We saw some artwork at Comic Con follows two earth bending twins when one discovers she's the Avatar. So keep growing that world. [00:54:15] Speaker B: Yeah, right. Like you. You can do it. And I'm excited to see that there's another series that. That. That world's gonna just blow up even more, I think. [00:54:28] Speaker A: I think so too. Especially like, we have a magic set coming out. [00:54:33] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:54:34] Speaker A: Lots of cool stuff. Paul Jenkins, the creator of the century, the Marvel character that was in the Thunderbolts. Yeah. He has an animated series called Sidekicks. It's a superhero satire and I guess this looks great. So it. Psychics ran from 2006. 2007 for five issues. Oh, sweet. [00:55:03] Speaker B: All right, well, let's bring it on. I like independent comic book stuff, so let's see what's going on with it. [00:55:11] Speaker A: Exactly. Exactly. Now we were talking about this pre show, the vampire, the stat. We got a little behind the scenes look at it. They're going, this is the third season of Interview with the Vampire, but they're changing the name of the show and it's full hedonistic rock vibes. [00:55:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I. What a weird way to do it, but a really cool way to do it. And, you know, I hope they mix, you Know the, the past with the present and see his rise to rock stardom. And I, I, I like that series quite a bit. [00:55:54] Speaker A: Oh, for sure. And it's. I, I really didn't know it was coming back until I, until I heard this. I was like, that's a really smart way to do it. So. [00:56:04] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:56:05] Speaker A: Yeah. Also from the world of Anne Rice Talamaska. He is another show that's coming out live action. And it's that. Did you watch that trailer? [00:56:19] Speaker B: Oh, I did. [00:56:20] Speaker A: That's really cool. I, Yeah, I didn't know this was coming out. We probably talked. No. At some point. But what a cool concept. Looks and supernatural show and monster the week. I don't know. But it looks great. And all you gotta do is say vampires and I'm there. So. [00:56:43] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Just a. What is like a kid who's gonna get trained to, like, fight monsters or investigate monsters, you know, like crimes and. Yeah, they showed some vampires and maybe zombies. Like, I don't know. So really good trailer. Looks, Looks interesting. [00:57:05] Speaker A: So tell mascot the secret order comes out. Secret order. And then Spartacus. What, what is this one? Sparta's House of Asher is a sequel or a prequel? What is it? [00:57:21] Speaker B: Yes. [00:57:21] Speaker A: Or just a spin off? [00:57:23] Speaker B: It's, I guess like a spit because, like, the character dies in Spartacus. So I didn't get to watch this trailer yet. I was like, wait a second, like, when it even was announced. We've been talking about for a while, like, like, how does this happen? You know what I mean? Like, how is this person having this series when he's dead? So I don't know if it takes place all in his head or what this show is going to be about, but I'm going to watch it because Spartacus is one of my favorite series of all time. [00:57:53] Speaker A: I am Spartacus, you know, so anybody can be Spartacus, so who knows, right? Could be. No, I'm Spartacus. All right. Moving over to movie news, the Zelda live action movie. Bo Bregason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth have been cast in the lead roles. So you know what, man? I'm actually kind of happy they're just moving forward with this because we've been waiting for something from this world. I'm not sure if I'm. I'm all about a live action version of the Legend of Zelda. Sure. I would probably preferred an animated one just to be safe, but whatever. Bring it. Like, it's exciting. [00:58:38] Speaker B: I just, like, I can't even believe it's happening. [00:58:42] Speaker A: Like, right. [00:58:45] Speaker B: And like, they, they're shooting it. Like, the picture that they show is like from the kids, like, in their. Out in their costumes. I'm like, this. This movie's getting shot. Like, you just. This is wild to me right now. Like, yeah, when I read that, I was like, I didn't even realize you were that far ahead in like a Zelda production that, like, this movie's coming out, what, in a year when. And what they did with the Mario movie. I. Yes, obviously I like that. What they would. I would have liked an animated. But I'm so. It's so ambitious. Like, who's directing this? Like, what is this movie? [00:59:26] Speaker A: That's. That's kind of like the surrealism of like, I don't know if it's real. [00:59:30] Speaker B: Or not, but this is Nintendo. They're so clandestine. You know, they never. Like, you get leaks sometimes, but they're not always right. Like, they're very secretive. [00:59:40] Speaker A: Yep. [00:59:41] Speaker B: So, yeah, I'm excited. [00:59:43] Speaker A: Awesome. Next up, also excited for The Mortal Kombat 2 movie that's coming out to the big screens. And this movie, this trailer was bonkers. Johnny Cage. Did you watch the Uncaged Fury one? [01:00:01] Speaker B: No, not yet. [01:00:02] Speaker A: Oh, we just watched that one. That's so funny. Because it's just. They did the fake trailer for his fake movie in the movies. 80s action movie trailer. Stupidest lines. Perfect preview trailer for the Mortal Kombat 2 trailer. And so, yeah, I'm. I think that, you know, it's kind of funny. Like Johnny Cage seems to be the main character. [01:00:29] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:32] Speaker A: Exactly. [01:00:33] Speaker B: He's. He's always fan favorite. So Carl Urban and Johnny Cage, just the perfect mix. [01:00:44] Speaker A: Absolutely. Carl Oliverin for. For President. You know, I think. I think that would work. Anyways, I'll be seeing the big screen. Nice. I watched this fixed trailer from Gendy Tartofsky and that was not what I expected from a movie. And it looks really funny. And I am really excited to watch this. [01:01:16] Speaker B: I. [01:01:17] Speaker A: Okay. [01:01:18] Speaker B: I didn't know there was a trailer out for it already. [01:01:20] Speaker A: Yeah, it's goofy. [01:01:22] Speaker B: All right. I'll have to check it out then. Yeah. Like, listen, he hasn't failed anything, really. I re watched Primal because I did. I realized I didn't finish it. That is an ins. I mean, I already knew it was an insane show, but it gets. Did you finish it all? [01:01:41] Speaker A: No, man. [01:01:42] Speaker B: Sorry. I keep adding things to your list. [01:01:44] Speaker A: But, like, that's fine. [01:01:45] Speaker B: It does like, shift and you're like, what doesn't. Just stay where it is. [01:01:57] Speaker A: Okay. [01:01:58] Speaker B: And I was like, this just wasn't What I expected. And I was like, holy. And it reminds me of that show that I loved that was on hbo. Now I gotta figure it out. That's such a good show, the animated one. [01:02:14] Speaker A: Ah. [01:02:14] Speaker B: All right, go on. Sorry. [01:02:16] Speaker A: While you're doing that and searching the Internet, Tron Airy's got a new trailer. Answered a few of my questions, Made me go download that Nine Inch Nails song. Yeah. I also. The panel. I read a little bit about that at Comic Con, which was funny with the dude, of course. And I can't wait for this movie. And if Diane Snails delivers a soundtrack like Daft Punk did, like, which they're more. More than capable of doing in a different way. And I get to hear some of that in a week and a half, you know? Yeah, I'm really excited. [01:02:56] Speaker B: Yeah. I think I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. You're more excited about it than I am. [01:03:04] Speaker A: I think I'm more excited about the soundtrack than the movie. [01:03:07] Speaker B: Right. Which is, like, do you need to. [01:03:10] Speaker A: Go see the movie? [01:03:11] Speaker B: Like, can I just download the sound? Like, that's what I'm kind of like, wondering, is the movie going to be cool, or is it just that I want to hear Nine Inch Nails as loud as I can with some cool visuals? Story be dang damned. You know what I mean? Like, I pay a ticket for that, right? Right. Yeah. This is cheaper, right? 13 bucks. 15 bucks. Anyways, that show is called Scavengers Reign. It's one of the greatest things. [01:03:39] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Another thing you've put on my list. [01:03:41] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, for sure. [01:03:42] Speaker A: Every time I look at it, I'm like, why haven't I watched this yet? Next up, Taika Waititi has signed on for Judge Dredd movie to launch a new Dread Universe. Hey. Okay. I don't know, because the Last Dread Movie is one of the coolest movies that. Yeah, I. It's. I love that movie. So I don't know. I don't know how much better you can get or if you're just gonna make it funnier or, like, I don't know what Taika's gonna do with it. So cool news. But I did, like, Karl Urban. [01:04:21] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm not excited. After Love and Thunder. Like, I think Taika Waititi is a capable director. I definitely do. But, like, I don't want it to be funny. [01:04:32] Speaker A: Right. [01:04:32] Speaker B: Like, I want. Like, I just want more of Dread, like, everyone does. Like, if you tell me Carl Irvin's back, then I'll go. Okay, cool. [01:04:45] Speaker A: Same, same. Yeah. So Predator Badlands, the Newest trailer is the. One of the craziest things I've seen. And I, I'm sitting here thinking about our, our time in like seventh grade, like drawing aliens and predators and reading the comics and growing up with those toys and what this franchise in both the. The Predator and the Alien franchise are becoming suddenly underneath, you know, the, the Disney banner. [01:05:17] Speaker B: Yeah, right. [01:05:18] Speaker A: And especially after Killer of Killers, like Prey was great. And it was just like, what? Okay, you got my attention. And then I thought Badlands is going to be a the Prey sequel, but you know, there's going to be a Prey sequel. Anyway, this movie, the concept of it just totally blew my mind and I've read a little bit more than I should have actually about the movie or like the beginning and, and what kind of sets things off. But this, this looks insane. And, and it's like the. The Predator's the hero, you know, and it's. Or at least an int. Like the protagonist. I don't know, man. I just, I'll go. I'm gonna see this like day zero. [01:06:01] Speaker B: Any talks? [01:06:02] Speaker A: Yes. You know, so without spoiling too much, like, I guess the beginning of the movie, there's just like the Predator scene is all like the. Is all subtitles because they're all just talking of course. X amount of time. So it's like finally like we're delving into like the actual culture of the Predator. [01:06:22] Speaker B: Yes. [01:06:24] Speaker A: Elle Fanning, right? Is that her name? [01:06:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:06:28] Speaker A: What a cool. [01:06:28] Speaker B: I think is a great actress. She's always been a great actress. [01:06:32] Speaker A: Yeah. And the trailer really shows a different side of that character and made me even more excited because you got this like wise ass synth like crawling around like. And then he's carrying her like Chewbacca, you know? [01:06:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I. Jesus Christ. Yeah. I don't have much to say other than that right there. When I talk about favorite movies of the year, I. I was like looking at the rest of the year, I'm like, Predator band lions and Avatar. Sorry. God. [01:07:01] Speaker A: Like that trailer. I don't even think I put it on here. I didn't expect it. I was like that. That Avatar trailer just drops right for the movie started right when you think the movie's gonna start and you're just like, oh, oh yeah. [01:07:13] Speaker B: Because I was like, where is it? I'm not seeing. Alicia told me that the trailer was there also. I didn't even know it was gonna come either. And then. Yeah, I mean, you all watched it just came out today and it's just, it's beautiful. [01:07:26] Speaker A: Can't wait Speaking of Killers of Killer, I watched that as. I just went and watched that little addition that. [01:07:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:07:35] Speaker A: He put in there with. With Dutch. Right. So you see. [01:07:40] Speaker B: Well. And Danny Glover. [01:07:41] Speaker A: Yeah. And Harrigan. Is that his name in the movie? Yeah, Yeah. I thought that was really cool because. Yeah. You see the girl from Prey in the movie. You know, you saw that, and that was a cool. And then there's all those other containment things. So, yeah, I guess in the end, they. We just lose, period. Well, Ultimate Mortal Kombat tournament. [01:08:07] Speaker B: The cool thing is, is that it means that they can tell more stories with those characters. Like, we know we're getting a Prey to, like, that's getting worked on, but, like, if they decide to do an animated Dutch, you know what I mean? And do, like, that concrete Jungle Book, like, where it's a sequel and it's Dutch's brother, and, like, it's crazy. And then they kind of did that for Predator to the movie. They kind of, like, took that idea of it being in the city and everything. But, yeah, like, they. They could do so many things in. [01:08:41] Speaker A: Animation now, which is why I think Killer. Killer of Killers was, like, so special. It was excellent to begin. [01:08:49] Speaker B: We watched it twice. [01:08:51] Speaker A: Yeah. So it's just. We can. And they're just saying, we. We're gonna do this. Like, that kind of came out of nowhere. It was like, we are doing this. We're establishing. It's establishing this world with no fear of. And the fans are just like, okay. [01:09:05] Speaker B: They're eating it up. [01:09:06] Speaker A: Feed me. Yeah. [01:09:07] Speaker B: Present company included. [01:09:09] Speaker A: Yeah. Yes. As we. As we would, you know. Yeah. And next up, Masters Universe movie. We got a title teaser of Masters Universe. [01:09:21] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:09:21] Speaker A: It's great. And then we got to look at some props at San Diego Comic Con of the Havoc staff and the power sword. So both look authentic. [01:09:32] Speaker B: He man, show me the teaser. [01:09:34] Speaker A: That's it. That's what I said. Why are we not getting something at Comic con from the U.S. yeah, I. [01:09:39] Speaker B: Thought we would have gotten, like, a muscle flex. You know what I mean? Like, I. You know that just a dude rippling muffle muscles holding. I have the power from behind. Don't even have to see his face. [01:09:50] Speaker A: Like, come on, Skeletor laugh. [01:09:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Should have been something. [01:09:56] Speaker A: Could have been. Could have been Godzilla is. Is just still rampaging through seventh anniversary. Now the Minus one sequel is starting production, and I can't wait for minus two. No, no. But, yeah, I'm, you know, I'm excited for this one. Can't wait. [01:10:21] Speaker B: Do you think this takes place like right after. Or like, is this just like a different. You know what I mean? Like, what do you think? [01:10:31] Speaker A: I think that they should try to surprise us with something different. [01:10:36] Speaker B: I'm. That's what I'm wondering if it's gonna be like just so. Just a totally different Godzilla movie. Just, you know, another cool human story. Like, again, put that monster like a predator in any time period and do the story you want to do. [01:10:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. It's just like. And that without going modern, where you're going to run into like the monsterverse. [01:11:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:11:02] Speaker A: You don't have to. Which is already doing its thing. Yeah. Avoiding saying, oh, yeah, we need to do follow up and just have Angeris in the second. Like, what do you do? Right. What is it? Because Godzilla minus one wasn't took what was already established in Godzilla lore and made it better told. Told the same story in a way, but differently. And you're right. It's just like with. Godzilla is a force of nature. Yeah. I don't want to get to the Showa period where he's like, talking with his fellow Kaiju or whatever, you know? [01:11:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:11:40] Speaker A: I know why it was. Why they did like. Yeah, it's the times. Those kind of movies and stuff like that. But I don't know if I want to see him as a protagonist in. In any way. It's just like he's a force of nature. And how do you do that story again without. How do you do it? New. Right. So. [01:11:55] Speaker B: Right. [01:11:56] Speaker A: I don't know. Yeah, I. I'll just trust the guy. [01:12:03] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll trust it. See what happens. [01:12:05] Speaker A: And they have more money this time, so we'll see. [01:12:07] Speaker B: Right. [01:12:10] Speaker A: Silent Night, Deadly Night, the remake. Got a trailer. I didn't watch this. [01:12:17] Speaker B: I did. [01:12:19] Speaker A: Called classic. [01:12:21] Speaker B: Yeah. The first one's a good 80s movie. The sequels go downhill from there. This looks okay. It's by the Terrifier three people. I don't like the Terrifier movies. [01:12:34] Speaker A: I haven't watched those, so. [01:12:35] Speaker B: Yeah, very popular. But I do like Silent Night Deadline. [01:12:39] Speaker A: So I'll check this out. Okay. All right. World War of the Worlds is getting another rendition. This one looks a little bit definitely more modern with like, the way that they showed like. Like shots through the phone. Using more like, you know, the found footage, quote unquote. I want. It's not really found footage, but live footage way of telling the story. Ice Cube looks really old. I don't know what I think about this movie because it looked like it was shot on a phone the entire time. [01:13:13] Speaker B: I think to be quite honest with you, I think it was. I think the entire movie probably shot his scenes via this, via zoom. And like, they just formed a shitty CGI movie around him. [01:13:31] Speaker A: It's a good paycheck. [01:13:32] Speaker B: Yeah, it's great paycheck. It's cameo. They've already paid him a thousand dollars an hour, three hours worth of work. They thought it was worth it. [01:13:44] Speaker A: Yeah. So I would. I didn't really get too much excitement to see this movie. I remember the Tom Cruise when I semi liked in theaters. [01:13:52] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that movie's fine. Spielberg. [01:13:55] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. So we will see. We'll see this next one, the final one of the movies, the Long Walk, based on the Stephen King novel that I've never read. And yet I really need to see this movie because I have no idea what's going on. And it looks evil. [01:14:15] Speaker B: Right. Like, that's the thing. It's like I get the Hunger Games kind of aspect of it, you know, And Francis Lauren. Francis Lawrence, who directed it, directed Hunger Games and I think he directed Misery and stuff. I think he's done some other Stephen King things. No, Rob Reiner did Misery. Sorry. But anyway, good director. Yeah. I don't know what's happening. I don't know why these kids are walking. [01:14:43] Speaker A: I don't know. [01:14:43] Speaker B: Everyone's looking at them all spooky. So. Yeah, I'm interested to find out. [01:14:49] Speaker A: Very weird. Anyways, we'll. We'll talk about it after we watch it. The Borderlands 4 state of play. That already happened, right? [01:14:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:15:00] Speaker A: So Borlands 4 will drop on September 12th. One of our favorite game franchises. And I need to go and watch this State of play because I did not watch it yet. [01:15:11] Speaker B: Yeah, they. They reveal some pretty cool things. Obviously it looks. It looks like Borderlands, but, like, that's what I want. But they. They've added some new vehicles, kind of like one of those Destiny, like Sparrow things, you know, that goes around, but that's good for getting over the huge, massive worlds. And you can do more types of modifying to the weapons to like, again, make them extremely unique. And then they've changed the loot system around and, you know, it's one of our favorite franchises and I think we'll probably end up having to make our way back. [01:15:50] Speaker A: We should. Let's return to Pandora. [01:15:55] Speaker B: Damn right. [01:15:57] Speaker A: Critical Role has announced an original video game. And so these guys are just kicking ass with their DND Light world that they've created here and just really expanding out. Yeah, I don't know. I. I'll Be checking this out. [01:16:22] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, the thing I really like about it is they. They still played dnd, which is awesome. And they seem to know what works. Like, they. Their DND expansion stuff has been really good. The Fox Machinist stuff is good. Like, let's see what this is. You know, I feel like this team knows what a video game, like, what people would want to play. [01:16:45] Speaker A: So. [01:16:45] Speaker B: So let's see what they come up with. [01:16:48] Speaker A: Exactly. Exactly. Next up is Hellraiser. Hellraiser is getting a video game. Man, this sound. I mean, this. This looks crazy. And I really want to, you know, check this out as well. Was this first person? [01:17:11] Speaker B: This trailer is ridiculous. Like, it really. It starts out kind of like, okay, and then it's just like, oh, God. Like, this is. This is horrifying. It's Hellraiser. It's Clive Barker's Twisted Mind, and it's first person, and I'm scared to play it. But I do love Hellraiser, so I'm interested to see what you do when you wield a puzzle box. And, you know, it's kind of like a mix of, like, Bioshock and, you. [01:17:39] Speaker A: Know, I don't know, just new Resident Evil, in a way. [01:17:42] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe. Yeah. [01:17:44] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, we'll see. I. Yeah, that looks great. And then Also, Friday the 13th is getting a new. A new video game. Now, the one before this was, like, those party multiplayer games, right? Which we. [01:18:01] Speaker B: Well, it was Kickstarter, remember? [01:18:03] Speaker A: Yeah, I remember that. And then that, you know, that I think that's already been delisted in all that stuff, so I don't think it's even supported anymore. But a new game has been announced. And, I mean, it's whole. This whole Jason universe thing got announced as well. [01:18:19] Speaker B: Right. [01:18:19] Speaker A: It's like they're really trying to just push the whole franchise. [01:18:23] Speaker B: Well, that's the thing. Now that they have the rights back and you don't have to have a certain actor, you know, I. E. Brad Doroth being Chucky, I. E. You know, Robin Englund, who just got announced, or. Yeah. He's getting his Hollywood star on Halloween. [01:18:45] Speaker A: It's awesome. [01:18:46] Speaker B: So for his Freddy Krueger. So, you know, I think when you have, like, Jason and now you have the rights back 100. You know, we got the TV show coming. Sure. A video game will come. I'm sure we'll get movies. You know what I mean? Books, comics. You know, like, I. I have no doubt that we're gonna get a whole huge world of Jason stuff, because it's One of the biggest slashers, if not the most iconic. That hockey mask is known across all worlds. You know what I mean? Like people know that, so. Yeah, makes sense. [01:19:18] Speaker A: There's a day on the calendar. [01:19:20] Speaker B: There you go. Yeah. Never forget. [01:19:26] Speaker A: And then Invincible is getting a fighting game. [01:19:29] Speaker B: Yes. [01:19:30] Speaker A: Called Invincible Versus. [01:19:32] Speaker B: Yeah, it's just it. Yeah, it's a fighting game. It's brutal, it's bloody, it's got cartoon style, you know what I mean? Animations. And just like they showed video battle beast just wrecking shop against all these guardians and like viltrumites and everything. So yeah, it's. It's just what you expect from the Invincible universe in a fighting, bloody fighting game. [01:20:00] Speaker A: Cool. Yeah. That's still a series I need to watch. [01:20:04] Speaker B: Hell yeah. [01:20:06] Speaker A: Gotta do it. All my. All the kids at school are like, why don't you just walk? What do you mean you don't watch them? Vince, you would love that show. I know. Exactly, exactly. Next up, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a beat em up side scroller which has become so popular as of late. Everybody's doing it. This one is like all your favorite Cosmic Marvel people, including now Billy, Beta Ray Bill and Silver Surfer being added to the roster. Yeah, these are the games we played in arcades. These are the games that are once again popular. So hopefully this one is as good as some of the other ones that have come out. [01:20:46] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean the animation style is kind of like Marvel vs Capcon too as well. Like it just looks like that cel shaded a bit, you know, saw Spider man got thrown in there and Wolverine and stuff. So yeah, that's an instant buy as far as we're concerned. [01:21:07] Speaker A: Heck yeah. It's just. And make sure it's online multiplayer. That's it. And then last up we have Alien Rogue Incursion. Now what is. There's a special version of this coming out, right? The Evolved Edition. [01:21:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:21:26] Speaker A: So I, Yeah, I thought this game was this game only in VR. [01:21:34] Speaker B: Yeah. So this is the non VR version that none of us got to play. [01:21:40] Speaker A: Good. Because this is the thing. This game looks crazy. [01:21:45] Speaker B: Yes, it does. [01:21:47] Speaker A: And we've gotten some really, you know, we've gotten some good alien video games since, you know, isolation was one of those things that changed my whole like, perspective of alien video games. Did not expect that whatsoever. I wonder if that means it's a shorter game though. Like, you know, how long do they put into something like that for VR, right? [01:22:27] Speaker A: At the same time, it's like, I'll probably pay 40 bucks for something like that. [01:22:31] Speaker B: Yeah, no, listen, I'm not saying I don't play it. I just. [01:22:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm just curious. But that's it, my friend. Tell them all where you can find us. [01:22:42] Speaker B: You can find us @ don't forget a towel dot com. The only place to travel geekly as well as dfat entertainment dot com and DFATent on the social medias is as well. This is Casey saying, please go read your comics. [01:22:58] Speaker A: And this is Chris saying don't forget a towel.
