Episode Transcript
[00:00:04] Speaker B: DFAT Entertainment.
[00:00:12] Speaker A: Welcome to a brand new episode of Towelite Talk.
[00:00:15] Speaker B: This is Casey, and this is Chris.
[00:00:19] Speaker A: And It is our 10th year of recording this podcast. This is the 10 year anniversary of Towelite Talk. And also we are in the month of July as we're recording this episode. And it is the 13th year of don't forget a towel.
I feel honored, Chris, that we've been talking to people for this long.
[00:00:40] Speaker B: Oh. Oh, me too.
[00:00:42] Speaker A: Geeky news for this long.
[00:00:44] Speaker B: I know it's been a journey.
You and I have been doing this since middle school, of course.
Sharing our love of the geekly world and more. So yeah, it's been a trip, my friend sure has.
[00:01:03] Speaker A: Excited to do more, including what we'll get to today.
But before we get to that, we like to start off every episode. What are you geeking out on, man?
[00:01:16] Speaker B: Mostly magic.
Most magic. The Gathering, you know, just the. The big Final Fantasy set drop. I think since maybe since our last show, maybe we talked a little bit about it, I'm sure. But yeah, I've just been putting that together.
I'm trying to put all the. I'm trying to put all my, like the full set together, at least the comments on comments and stuff and display it. This is kind of like more collecting on my side and then, yeah, taking the cards. I really want to build decks out of and doing that. So I've been kind of toying around with AI and seeing what its capabilities are as far as like scouring the Internet and building a deck and seeing how. How smart our.
[00:02:06] Speaker A: Our Sky Lords are.
[00:02:08] Speaker B: Yes, our Skynet friends are. Yes, exactly. So that's been mostly that I got back into playing Final Fantasy VII again last night trying to finish that game. And that's it, man. Like we. We've been watching Discovery trying to finish that show because Strange New Worlds comes out this month, which I'm really excited for.
And I saw Superman, but we'll talk about that a little bit.
[00:02:33] Speaker A: We'll definitely talk about that a little bit.
Yeah. Awesome. I mean, you know, same magic. We saw each other.
We didn't get to record an episode because we were in the mountains and that was a. Okay, so Chris and I met up in California a couple weeks ago and played a lot of magic, did some hiking.
All the fun outdoorsy things.
[00:03:00] Speaker B: Santa Carla.
[00:03:01] Speaker A: Santa Carla. All those damn vampires that we had.
So, yeah, so we did that. Geeked out.
Trying to think.
My wife and I are watching you. Season five. It's the series finale of that Netflix show.
So we're on the last episode probably Finish that tonight and then. Yeah, gotta go see Superman.
I have to go see Superman at some point, but you can share your thoughts with us when we get down there. All right, let's get over to Marvel News. The X Men reboot officially has its director. It is Jake Schreierer, who you might have seen direct Thunderbolts, which is great.
What's your thoughts on this?
[00:03:52] Speaker B: I really liked Thunderbolts a lot. It was a pleasant surprise for the beginning of the summer.
And like I've said on the show, it's like we had really low expectations for this movie, and then it ends up being probably one of my favorite MCU movies, honestly.
So can he. Can he repeat the process? Is he a good team writer? Seemingly, but, I mean, X Men is a huge undertaking.
But I will be optimistic this time and not, you know, not be so cynical, I guess about it, and wait and see. So.
[00:04:30] Speaker A: Wait and see.
Crazy.
[00:04:34] Speaker B: It is. It's a new concept. It's a new concept these days. Yeah.
[00:04:38] Speaker A: It's 2025. Yeah. You know, we have no idea what this X Men is going to be like, what, what directions they're taking it, who's going to be in it, like, what characters they're using.
[00:04:52] Speaker B: Just see what they do.
[00:04:54] Speaker A: Assuming Doomsday will start answering some of that, since we got a director for X Men, which means we probably have a script for X Men.
[00:05:03] Speaker B: X Men in that movie.
Yeah.
[00:05:06] Speaker A: So let's see. Let's. Let's see what goes on next, though.
Speaking of things coming back, Punisher is set to be into Spider Man 4.
Brand new day. John Bernthal is going to be in it again.
I'm fine with that.
Bring it on.
[00:05:30] Speaker B: I mean, Punisher first showed up in Spider man comics, his first appearance, so there's no argument there. We've asked for a street level movie for Spider Man. This is the way. This, this is looking like it's on the right path.
My thing about this is, like, how much the MCU has embraced the Punisher, giving us the true Punisher in Daredevil season two. And like, I was talking to somebody the other day and he's like, oh, you know, he was talking about the.
[00:05:57] Speaker A: Punisher in the old.
[00:05:58] Speaker B: In the old Netflix shows and how. How good that was. I said, have you, have you watched Daredevil yet?
He's like, no. I was like, go, go watch that. And then. Yeah, it's just. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of violence and the, the little shift in the character that they actually made him truly like more you know, War Zone, Frank Castle. So I'm, I'm excited and it'll be an interesting balance to see how they do this with Spider Man.
[00:06:28] Speaker A: So, yeah, definitely excited to see what they do. Maybe they set up that classic cover, that shot where he's got Spider man in his sights.
[00:06:41] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:06:43] Speaker A: As you would expect, this is a little bit more under the rumor mill, but it's getting some traction. As of today, Moon Knight season two is looking to go forward. But not only that, it sounds like Marvel might be also working on a Ghost Rider project, which means we might be finally getting a lead into Midnight Suns. And what do you think about that idea?
[00:07:11] Speaker B: It's been on everybody's radar as of late. A lot of talk about it, how to revamp that side of things and if they're after Werewolf by Night and now the Punisher and their ability to actually achieve mature things. Yeah, I would love to see this. I think it's time for that side of the Marvel universe to enter the cinematic universe.
[00:07:36] Speaker A: That's right. The dark side.
That's right.
Keep you posted, obviously, as we learn more about it and it turns from rumor to fact. But I wouldn't be surprised if we see, at the very least, more Moon Knight. But Ghost Rider and everybody else makes sense too, to me.
[00:07:53] Speaker B: Yeah, Ghost Rider's gonna get it for Blade.
He'll. Blade, he'll be there. They just. It's funny.
Cause there was that article about how sinners used a lot of the props and, and costumes from the Blade. The failed Blade movie. But I only. Blade's gone. I just think they are revamping their whole idea here.
I would have watched that movie. But at the same time, it's a simple concept and I don't think you have to get super like artsy with it. Like he's killing vampires.
He's gonna be on the Midnight Songs.
They have a comic book movie. That's where we're at these days.
Bring it on.
[00:08:35] Speaker A: Yep. Exactly.
Speaking of comic books and where all these things really come from.
Frank Castle, our Punisher is back in red band version. This one is going to be. Who's writing on this one?
[00:08:50] Speaker B: Ben Percy.
[00:08:51] Speaker A: Yep, yep. And then Julius Oda will be on art.
This comes in September.
If you followed any of the red bands or I guess red or I don't know, Punisher Max. Right. You know, the Max series, I guess is like kind of the same thing.
[00:09:09] Speaker B: It is. This red band initiative is like, oh, we're gonna.
They would. I think they're only doing single issues now, but before they're releasing a reader friend, like a reader friendly issue. Then they put it a poly bag. They tried that.
But now. Yeah, but now it's like, like, like Black Label what DC was doing. I think Red Band is now kind of, they're like, hey, we're gonna do, yeah, we're gonna do dirty stuff and yeah, that's good.
[00:09:41] Speaker A: That'S fine. Bring back Garth Ennis to do it.
[00:09:43] Speaker B: No way.
[00:09:44] Speaker A: Ben Percy's great Percy, but I love Ben Percy. I, I actually, I, I, I'm not saying anything.
And then Danny Rand is back.
This is the undead Iron Fist.
This will be a four issue limited series also in September from Jason Liu and Fran Galan on art.
You know, I love Iron Fist when Iron Fist is done right and Matt Fraction being, you know, the penultimate in some ways.
I'm excited to read more from this character.
[00:10:20] Speaker B: Yeah, he's, Danny Rand's been gone for a while now, so it's, it's appropriate the time to bring it back. There's a lot of talk about bringing him back in the mcu. So.
Yeah, introducing back to the, the fan base. And I'm excited. I'm gonna, I'll buy this for four issue miniseries.
[00:10:40] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. Gotta have it.
And then this is a different one.
Marvel Token versus Capcom. Yeah, what is this?
[00:10:57] Speaker B: This is arc ARC Systems. You know that they did those remakes like and they do those double, Double Dragon game. So they've been.
[00:11:06] Speaker A: Gotcha, gotcha.
[00:11:07] Speaker B: They've been doing those kind of games. So they, they're doing this like Street Fighter vs Marvel team up fighting game, which, which looks pretty neat if you're a fan of those games. So yeah, this is coming out soon. A slew of cool characters to fight as tag team battles, etc. So good stuff.
[00:11:29] Speaker A: So it's just Marvel vs Capcom new.
[00:11:33] Speaker B: Version in a way.
[00:11:36] Speaker A: My God, the animation's insanity. Okay, sorry. Yeah, I love those games. So count me in as well as count me into this last piece which is Spider Man 94 also in September. This is the ending of the Spider man cartoon show.
Left little resolution and this is a way to kind of finally give a cap to that. So JM Dematias is on it as far as the writing goes. James Tao is on art and I'm, I'm interested to see what happens 30 years later. How do they, how do they bring this series to an end?
[00:12:19] Speaker B: Would have been nice as an animated show, seeing how X Men did pretty well. But I mean this is, this is the best you're Gonna get. You're gonna get. So. So it's a good idea.
[00:12:31] Speaker A: Yeah, but absolutely, you're correct. Like, hello, why did you do this to me when you could have just made this animated?
Anyway, as we transition between Marvel and DC.
Remember the 90s?
[00:12:46] Speaker B: Oh, I do.
Besides some things, it was my favorite decade.
[00:12:51] Speaker A: Yes. There you go. So during that time, we've got fun things like Marvel and DC's amalgam. And now what we're getting is some more mashups, the likes we haven't seen in a long time, including Kevin Smith, who worked on both Green Arrow and Daredevil, is now doing a mashup of the two, but we'll be getting a lot more. Other things like Jeff the Landshark with Crypto, Wonder Woman meeting Captain America and all sorts of fun mixes.
This has been a long time. We haven't seen something like this in a while.
[00:13:26] Speaker B: It hasn't.
They haven't teamed up since, like you said, the 90s, maybe early 2000s.
And it's just these, I guess these are like one shots that are coming out. Some fun tales. The, the crossovers sound fun. This is, this is probably my most anticipated one. I do love Kevin Smith's like, Batman and Daredevil runs, and his Green Arrow is great, so he knows what he's writing, you know, and two of my favorite characters teaming up.
[00:13:58] Speaker A: Yep. So I absolutely agree.
So let's go over to the house of L.
D.C. side of things. And Chris, you did see Superman.
What did you.
[00:14:13] Speaker B: What did you.
[00:14:14] Speaker A: Did you think?
[00:14:15] Speaker B: I did. I was able to score tickets to that early screening, the Amazon one. It was Tuesday, so I got to see it a good amount of days early.
And I, I thought it was great. I, I had a lot of fun with it. I do have some things that, you know, critiques about it, of course, as one would, but for me, the way that he approaches it, the way that he does away with an origin, this world is established.
It's colorful, it's Superman.
I just really enjoyed it. And I think that the pressure that James Gunn has on him for this, he's going to get some for it, of course, from the die hard Snyder fans who want everything dark because this is the polar opposite of that world. Like, this is comic booky.
It's very. It is, it is very James Gunn.
Some parts do remind me of, like, what he did with, with Guardians, but he took such an obscure comic and made it a household name. So it's like he's, he's very good at, like, character Dynamics with everybody together. Everything feels very organic.
And I'll. Nathan Fillion's guy Garner is, is great, of course. So I was just like, he's such a gift to mankind and womankind and geek kind and all that stuff.
[00:15:56] Speaker A: Humankind.
[00:15:57] Speaker B: He is. He's.
I was just like, is he. Was he too old for this? But the way that they've.
The way that they've kind of done this is smart. So I won't. I won't go any farther. I give it a 4.5 out of 5.
Okay. And I want to go see it again. So it's a good. It's a great summer, summer blockbuster. And. And it's Superman. So.
[00:16:20] Speaker A: It's Superman.
So, yeah, I, I have my tickets.
I'm going to see it in IMAX next week, so I am ready.
[00:16:29] Speaker B: It was awesome in imax. Awesome.
[00:16:32] Speaker A: Yeah. I cannot wait.
Speaking of super people, Super Girl Woman of Tomorrow drops the Woman of tomorrow. We haven't seen a super girl movie since Helen Slater. I think that was the 80s, maybe early 90s. Nobody gives a shit. There's 15 different Resident Evils, you know, I mean, there's 15 different Superman. Like Batman. We get it. Yeah.
[00:16:58] Speaker B: It just makes it simpler. I think James Gunn is right to do this. He did it with Superman legacy.
Yeah, I just.
Simpler the better.
It kind of takes away also, like, oh, I want to take some liberties with this Woman of Tomorrow story. Then people don't get as upset about it. Like, oh, you didn't stick to the source materials, you know, so.
[00:17:18] Speaker A: So it's probably part of it too.
[00:17:20] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll see. We will see.
[00:17:24] Speaker A: Sticking to the DCU or whatever the hell they're calling it. Wonder Woman is officially being written right now, which is exciting. You know what I mean?
Again, another one of our big three get. Let's get moving, you know what I mean? Like, let's just see what's happening.
[00:17:45] Speaker B: I think that's it. Right. So a lot of the stuff that got announced at first was kind of separate, and it's still going to be separate. Superman's a separate story which can tie into the other ones if it wants to. But the idea of like this giant narrative over shit ton of movies that kind of loses steam here and there, like Marvel did.
I think it's the right way to go.
We have the Paradise Island Lost, whatever they're doing the Thumbyscara TV show. That's still, you know, that's still working.
And this is supposed to tie into that. And I mean, if they're Going to kind of fast track the idea that we're going to get to the Justice League, that the Trinity is going to meet up eventually here within the next five years, I'm assuming, or at least announced then this is. This is the right way to go. Batman.
They. The only thing we know about Batman so far is that we saw him in Creature Commandos.
The Batman's out and about doing his thing. He's a little bit older in this universe. So I'm really excited to see what they do and if. If we get to it. So we'll see after the box office and Superman.
[00:18:56] Speaker A: I don't even want to talk about the box office of it. It's so stupid to me. It's because it's. Everyone's complaining or comparing it to man of Steel and it's like, just let.
[00:19:04] Speaker B: It be its own thing. It's a different time. It was pre Covid, so way different time.
[00:19:11] Speaker A: Ten years ago, man of Steel was man of Steel. We only had Superman Returns with Brandon Roth at that time. It wasn't connected to anything.
It's a different time.
[00:19:22] Speaker B: Anyway.
[00:19:25] Speaker A: Going over. Still Warner Brothers still doing its thing in the animated department.
Okay, so it's just DC Studios, they call it.
[00:19:32] Speaker B: Right.
[00:19:32] Speaker A: Mr. Miracle is on its way.
This will be from the Tom King and Mitch Gerard's run, which is, I don't know, the quintessential Mr.
[00:19:41] Speaker B: Miracle run.
[00:19:42] Speaker A: I would have to say, like, that's it. So we're getting an adaptation of it. Can't wait.
[00:19:48] Speaker B: Like I said to you, I mean, adapt all this Tom King stuff. He's smart. He knows how to write it into the modern narrative.
It's just.
And he treats characters intelligently. I know people have some issues with some stuff. I don't care.
Woman of tomorrow, Mr. Miracle, Human Target, all of these things are accidentally written by a smart man. And he's always said, take that source material and make it a movie. So this is. This. Doing more animated stuff is intelligent. Bringing in the new gods is smart.
And I'm really excited for this. I can't wait.
[00:20:30] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm ready. And then.
This is cool. DC Studios founds Clayface.
Tom Rice Harries will be playing Clayface in his own movie. It's kind of going off of script based off of Mike Flanagan, which we know from Life of Chuck and Fall, the House of Usher and everything else that Mike Flanagan does, amazingly. So this is.
It's kind of crazy that Clayface is getting his own movie when that was the rumor for the Batman 2, which I guess still could be the villain, but then that would be confusing to have two different.
But we're gonna get two different Batman. I don't know, dude. What do you think of this?
[00:21:14] Speaker B: I mean, there's still no.
There's still no green light on this Batman 2 as far as the script goes. I mean, it's like they say it is, and then they go back and they're like, well, we're not. It's. We're gonna push it back. So whatever. It's a separate world. I love the Batman. I can't wait for more of that. I think it's gonna be Mr. Or at least Penguin.
Right? Exactly. Or another TV show like Gotta do something. Right.
But Clayface using him in Creature Commandos was extremely smart the way they did it. He's a creepy character. And if you want to touch on all the other genres and you want to do a horror movie like this, awesome. Because what I love about this whole thing is like, we're doing a different maturity levels, we're giving people different kind of stories that all exist in the same universe without stipulations. So, yep, let's do it.
[00:22:10] Speaker A: Can not wait. And finally, rounding out the DC news, it's going to be continuing the fan favorite Future State series starring Superman, which will be House or, sorry, book. Adventure of Superman.
[00:22:24] Speaker B: Book of Al. Yeah, Yeah, I loved it. It was one of my favorite things from Future State and that time period of the comics you're putting out. And I was kind of like, where's more of it?
And I love Philip Kennedy Johnson. It's a great writer.
And he was setting up some really cool Superman mythos.
So I'm looking forward to this.
[00:22:49] Speaker A: So that will be a full series, like a 12 issue series starting in September. So stay tuned for that. All right, so let's get over to a galaxy far, far away.
And our first bit of news. Mia Goth has been cast in Starfighter. That's the Shawn Levy Gosling movie, so that's due out in 2027. And she's supposedly going to be the villain.
[00:23:20] Speaker B: She's a good villain. She's a. She's a great villain. Yeah.
But still believe it when I see it. So keep casting, start filming, and put my ass in the theater so that I can watch a Star wars movie on a big screen.
I'm looking forward to Mando and Grogu, of course, very much so.
But also, it's a big universe.
So come on, Disney, let's do it.
[00:23:46] Speaker A: Keep it going, keep expanding.
And then finally in Marvel, Star Wars Comic. We're getting two new series, what we kind of touched upon before Boba Fett, Black, White and Red.
So we'll be getting that. And then we're also getting a Han Solo Solo series, which will be Hunt for the Falcon.
That one takes place between Return of the Jedi and the Force Awakens.
[00:24:11] Speaker B: Yeah, that makes sense.
Out of the two, I would. I love those Black, White, red anthology kind of stories like that. I think they're a lot of fun.
I love that kind of art style. It's dynamic and I think Boba Fett's a good choice for it. So I'll be checking that out.
[00:24:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I think it plays well with that character.
Hopefully it kicks ass.
Not the Boba Fett TV show. Anyway, finally going over to a different sort of galaxy, Star Trek. We're going to be getting our first look at IDW Publishing's red shirts, which goes along with their Strange New worlds kind of era.
Are you reading these? Are you reading the Star Trek comic stuff?
[00:25:02] Speaker B: I was.
I fell off because it was a lot.
But we also get those IDW previews. So I need to go back and catch up because they just. They're just wrapping up that whole, like, Defiant, the Star Trek and another one with the Lore, the Lore War or whatever they're calling it. So they're ending that whole cool initiative and they're starting off a new one.
So. Yeah, I mean, I like it. I just don't have a ton of time to read a lot of extra comics.
But I love that Star Trek is alive and well thanks to iw.
[00:25:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
And thank goodness that they're continuing going. I'm actually going to skip over to this last piece of news first because. Yeah, in the comic realm. But sticking with idw, we've got Captain Kirk back from the dead in Star Trek the Last Starship. This is after he. I'm going to use air quotes for you listeners, died in 1994's Star Trek Generations.
So the, you know, Captain Kirk's back. And what is this? Where did they, you know, where was he? Let's figure this out. New crew, new era, different tone.
Let's see how this goes.
[00:26:26] Speaker B: Yeah, man. I mean, it's my favorite. My favorite captain and you know, him in Strange New Worlds has been great. And I'm kind of excited to see if they do continue a show with that. But I will.
I probably will pick up this comic because it's just.
It's kind of a neat. Yeah, it sounds cool. It's a neat concept. And I'd love to know what the next story is after that.
[00:26:52] Speaker A: Well, we might get a hint to that. Strange New World Season 3 is due out soon.
But we also got the kind of announcement that we will be getting five seasons with a shortened season five. So I'm assuming that means they're probably filming season four right now.
But the next season at the time of our recording on the 11th of July, comes out next Thursday on the 17th.
So when you listen to it, probably Strange New Worlds is out.
[00:27:22] Speaker B: I'll be watching it.
[00:27:24] Speaker A: Yeah, you will.
And then finally, in the top half of the show, Crowd Sorcery, one of our favorite games, or at least the game we played quite a bit. Deep Rock Galactic is getting its own miniature game. You love them. We love them.
There's more of them.
So you like miniatures, you like video games, you like a mix of both.
We will leave the link in there. They were looking for 23,000. We're at 1.1 million with 20 days to go.
Insanity.
[00:27:58] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:27:59] Speaker A: Insanity.
Holy crap. It's going up as I'm listening. As we're talking.
Gosh.
Okay. I mean, listen, the miniatures are freaking wild and deep. Rock Galactic is probably for our listeners, probably a game that most of them have touched on. So that's pretty cool.
[00:28:19] Speaker B: Yeah, it's funny. Not a, like, it's hit or miss for me with these kind of games, resource collecting, all that kind of stuff. But it was a really smart idea. It's well executed and you know, miniature games are becoming more and more. More and more popular, which is crazy to me because seemingly they're the most expensive games to play.
And geeks seem to have very deep pockets these days. So it's great. I just. It's so funny to me because it's like the ability to make miniatures on a 3D printer is. Is so much easier than it used even like a few years ago. So it's like, yes, it's amazing like that that people still invest into it. I just. Nothing wrong with it. I'm just saying it's like, it's really impressive that these kind of games. And I'm happy because physical gaming like this and like sitting around with your friends and doing stuff like that, I think it's a really cool thing versus just sitting on a couch with your headphones on. So. Yeah, good. Good stuff.
Yeah, I agree.
[00:29:26] Speaker A: I completely agree. And we will be right back after this epic commercial break.

[00:30:05] Speaker A: She's a big one, ain't she?
[00:30:07] Speaker B: Oy. Over 20 points of articulation, great sculpting. And look at the paint job on her.
[00:30:13] Speaker A: We've been looking all over for this one.
[00:30:15] Speaker B: 1. Let's get him enough sights and end this hunt now.
All right, all right. Steady, steady now.

[00:31:00] Speaker A: The universe, don't forget to travel safe.
[00:31:03] Speaker B: And don't forget a towel.
[00:31:07] Speaker A: We are back after those luscious commercial breaks and kind of top of the second half of the show.
It happened a little while ago, but it was a pretty big piece of pop culture geek news where diamond got hit by layoffs as it was taken over by one time comic. Well, ad populum bought diamond comics and it kind of closed DST kind of screwed up a lot of the way that comics are getting distributed and kind of we don't quite know what the full effects are of what this means as a lot of layoffs hit it too. So we just want to touch upon that, you know, diamond is a monopoly and what does that mean for comics?
[00:32:00] Speaker B: Yeah, I have some personal experience and I talked to my guy at the Shopbot a little bit because I had when TFAW got shut down, when Dark Horse shut down their online stuff and I shifted back a local comic shop as I should have been. Anyways, as we always preach, I, you know, they were having a hard time getting comics and getting enough or they weren't damaged or the distribution has been really screwed up, the bankruptcy screw. Like this is what happens when you have this monopoly and they just grossly treat the market as if it's like we're not collectors, we're not expecting things. And so it was really frustrating for me because Marvel is in this transition to going to I think Random House and so these other companies are taking over distribution for the major, the major books like DC had already done that smartly, you know, towards the end of COVID or whatever. During COVID And so for me the layoffs are. Are sad because people lose their jobs and things like that. But these corporate mega giants that just continue to do like this, I mistreat their, their customers, mistreat the, the comic shops. Like, are you not dependent on like delivering the. The product? Like that's the problem. Like these smaller shops are getting affected the most and I just, I'm just happy to see diamond kind of just get broken up like this and, and hopefully they solve some of these issues with, with distribution and spreading the wealth.
[00:33:55] Speaker A: I couldn't agree more. I know Lunar is out there. Lunar is doing a good job at what it does.
But diamond needed to get broken up and rest in peace. To Diamond Select Toys.
[00:34:08] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure.
[00:34:10] Speaker A: I don't know how that works.
We'll talk about pursuit of plastic, but our heart goes out to all those people who worked for such a good company, including our friend Zach over there.
And he seems to record recovered. Zach O.
He's working for some collectible company, so. Which is great.
[00:34:33] Speaker B: Vintage, vintage collect. Cool, vintage toy company.
So it's great to see that he got a job right away and I'm glad that those kind of jobs exist within the toy world because it seems very niche.
[00:34:44] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:34:46] Speaker B: But it's sad because DST did some really good stuff.
We partnered with General Giant.
I just, it was really hard to see why, like how all these companies balance and make money because there's so many companies, so many products, especially at that level of like making these statues with like McFarlane now there was the DST ones, etc. So it's just like with the competition.
How did you. How are you keeping up with that?
Yeah, so. But I'll always have fond memories of hang out with Zach at Toy Fair and Comic Con and stuff like that. So.
[00:35:21] Speaker A: Absolutely.
So let's get over here for the.
[00:35:25] Speaker B: You know.
[00:35:26] Speaker A: Chris, what, what time is it?
[00:35:27] Speaker B: It's. It's time for the pursuit of plastic.
[00:35:31] Speaker A: That is right, my friend. And you know, we talked about diamond select toy, which, you know, we love. But let's talk about a company that is thriving always, which is lego.
They just print money in the form.
[00:35:45] Speaker B: Worth more than gold.
[00:35:47] Speaker A: Seriously.
And so they announced we're going to be seeing seven sets from the One Piece TV show which will be coming season two next year, which sucks.
So this is the only thing to sustain us for a year or something like that.
[00:36:03] Speaker B: What about the remake of the show?
Because aren't they like redoing the anime and then making it more concise and stuff.
[00:36:12] Speaker A: But not soon, I don't think. So we don't really know what the animation's like and it's supposed to follow the manga close more closely and I don't know. But yeah, we get Lego sets.
[00:36:25] Speaker B: I. Hey, the pirate. I was a huge fan of LEGO Pirate as a. As a kid and I. And still, you know, a big pirate fan. I haven't watched One Piece. I've been, you know, I got. That's one of my. On the list when I get Netflix back.
And that's why I hope that they redo the anime, because I don't. I want to watch the old anime, but I also don't want to get into that anime.
[00:36:51] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm, you know, speaking of geeking out. Yeah. I've been watching One Piece slowly through and it's. It's very.
[00:36:59] Speaker B: Your entire life. You mean for the next 25 years?
[00:37:02] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just. It's so good. But it is. It's very long.
Anyway, we also are getting X Files.
Set of X Files that kind of came from the legos ideas box.
I love it. It's shocking that it's happening, but I'm right there for it. Mulder, Scully, Aliens, everything else. That's awesome.
[00:37:24] Speaker B: I'm less and less surprised every time because it just seems like they get it now. They're like, all right. Yeah, they do. We're gonna do all, like, all of this stuff. And I love. I love the fan input, the. The voting on ideas, and I can't. I will buy this set.
[00:37:43] Speaker A: Ideas is one of the greatest things that they've. Any toy company's ever done.
[00:37:47] Speaker B: It was a great idea. That's. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:37:52] Speaker A: Your boy is getting his own lego, which is Godzilla again.
LEGO ideas.
You know, it's always fun to see, like, what the original people make versus what Lego the engineers there come up with and just.
They come up with whole new bricks sometimes and devices. But to see a Godzilla, you know, we don't know what the price or the size or anything yet, but it is coming. And I'm sure you're gonna buy.
[00:38:25] Speaker B: I will try not to.
Yeah.
I'll make an excuse that it's monster verse. I won't. I'll be like, it's not classic too. I don't have to spend 300 on it, so. But this next one, you know, I.
[00:38:39] Speaker A: Was gonna say, speaking of things, I'm gonna spend 300 for and not think.
[00:38:43] Speaker B: No, it's not that Much.
It won't.
[00:38:46] Speaker A: The other one was like 199 or something. But anyway.
Transformers. Soundwave.
Soundwave was always one of my favorite. Not characters, but toys when I was a kid. Because of the tape deck.
[00:39:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:39:02] Speaker A: Chris has got his right there.
So I've got my Optimus prime that needs to be built behind me. Soundwave will join. I didn't really care about Bumblebee. It's not that I don't like Bumblebee, but give me Megatron, give me Starscream, give me Soundwave. I'm a Decepticon boy.
[00:39:21] Speaker B: Yeah, no, for sure.
I picked up both. The first two I. I still have. I still want to build them. I just. Yeah, I just. There's so much. I haven't even finished my D&D one yet. I'm still, you know, I gotta get back to that kind of stuff.
But yeah, I love Soundwave. It's a great character. I've always loved, love Soundwave. I remember as a kid, what a cool.
What a cool design. And like, who knows about tape decks these days, right? So comes with ravage, comes with laser beak, and they turn into tapes. I am pumped. And this has been rumored for a while and now we finally got a look at it. So can't wait.
[00:39:59] Speaker A: Can't wait.
Hot Toys is announced or has announced Nightfall Batman, the 90s version that we all see. Some love, some hate of Batman.
You know, the Asriel afterwards. Oh, the Jean Paul Valli one.
[00:40:15] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:40:16] Speaker A: Yeah. So it's a really cool hot toy. Like really cool.
[00:40:25] Speaker B: That armor. That armor is cool.
[00:40:28] Speaker A: It is. And to see it in this way, you know, being able.
There's a big difference when you can see something moving versus reading it on paper. You know what I mean? To see a cape fly in person. And it's pretty neat. So that's coming out, you know, typical. 242. 79.
Pre order.
Sure. And then finally speaking of pre orders, which we will leave up Mythic legions.
They have their next set, which is the Horror of Einsimal, which includes a giant freaking werewolf, like in full battle regalia and a polar bear giving me golden compass vibes all the way. I just. This whole set's crazy. There's a gnome, there's a wizard, but more importantly, there is a.
Well, there's a little fox. Oh my God. This is like boomborough.
[00:41:26] Speaker B: Yeah, I thought. I thought that was a really cool like small figure idea there. Like either it's like a mini werewolf or whatever it is.
Yeah. But this is a cool little subset Just kind of running with a werewolf theme set in that universe, giving you some more characters. It's like a little D and D side quest. Right? So yes. And the first werewolf at that, at that size, at 10 inch, I forgot. I think it's 10 inch size, but I love those size figures and it's, it's really tough for me not to order this werewolf. So they just keep the, they just keep it coming.
[00:42:09] Speaker A: Just keep coming.
All right, so let's jump over to streaming news. Not too much news, but we did get an announcement for Cyberpunk Edge Rudder Edge Runners Season 2.
Season 1 was considered one of the best animes and it won anime of the year year, which was insane. And actually Ruben sent me an article about how Netflix didn't realize its anime potential. And now like all of their anime shows are like number one. So they're like tripling down on it going forward and just we're going to be seeing a lot more anime from Netflix coming out.
[00:42:52] Speaker B: I mean that's kind of weird that.
[00:42:54] Speaker A: They didn't know like, like Squid Game is. I think that's a Korean show. But like some of their like foreign shows are like far exceed the American stuff. Like not even close.
[00:43:09] Speaker B: It always has like the Korean streaming service was extremely popular. Like there's a lot of like people don't realize it's like the international value of this stuff.
Especially when you start to put your streaming services in international markets and how much money you can make. Like how much money you can make. They've been doing anime and they've been hosting anime for so many years now. I'm just like, it just. It's tough for me to be like, hey, you didn't realize like the gold mine you have here.
So. Yeah, that's. That's extremely exciting. Good.
[00:43:45] Speaker A: Yeah, I think they hit.
They've been animated, you know what I mean? But I think it's like the strictly anime too is what's. Yeah, I think Edgerunners winning all those awards, I think they kind of were like, oh shit. And one piece obviously is like insane for them. You know, they get new people every day just. Yeah, just from one piece, so.
And then finally Larry David, even though Curb is over, the dude's still kicking.
He is going to star in co write and executive produce a sketch comedy series about American history.
This is produced by the Obama's company Higher Ground. It will be on hbo.
Whatever. Larry David is doing his comedy thing. I'm sure we'll tune in.
[00:44:36] Speaker B: Hey, if we're just going to Eliminate, you know, American history in schools and in general public might as well. Somebody's got to tell the stories.
[00:44:45] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:44:46] Speaker B: So we gotta tell the truth. And Larry David. Larry David, Will. I'm excited for this. I forgot this was exactly the news that I was like, there's something that's just announced and. Yeah, yeah, it's good stuff. Awesome. That's it.
[00:45:00] Speaker A: That's it.
All right, so let's go over to movie news. The first big piece is.
This is kind of wild.
So Alcon Media Group won a bid for 417 million to acquire village Roadshow film library, including things like Wonka, Matrix, Ready Player one.
Those are all huge films, but they're also a deal that they had with Warner Brothers. So now it comes into.
Does Warner Brothers have the rights to these? They didn't win the rights. So then Warner Brothers would have to pay to keep some of their own Warner Brothers movies onto their streaming service, which just got changed from H. From Max back back to hbo Max.
You know, this is just another one of those stupid clusterfucks of rights that screws all of us over. And it makes me want to buy physical media more and more because of this.
[00:46:04] Speaker B: It's a double edged sword.
Right? So this conglomeration. We got to put discovery and we got put TNT in with. We gotta have sports, we gotta have, we gotta have serious stuff. We gotta have everything for everybody. You know, HBO was just fine for decades as hbo and then actually more annoying to me that they have to. That I have to sift through all this other. In order to get to my HBO good stuff. So.
Yes. Oh, yeah, yeah. Do I care if Warner Brothers has to pay for its own stuff? I don't care. Because if they go and make, if they can go and make more products like Mad Max stuff and, and, and other beautiful series that we love and expand on them in a different way in a, in a more aggressive way.
Fine. And we get the, and we get the content. That's all I care about.
Like these corporate people can. Yeah, that's. I don't care. That's all money. I just want product. I want to see things. I want to give me a Mad Max cartoon. I don't give a. Like, please.
[00:47:13] Speaker A: It's coming up next, written and directed by Mel Gibson and star.
[00:47:20] Speaker B: No, thank you. Tom Hardy would be fun. There you go.
[00:47:24] Speaker A: All right, so let's go into this. We've got Street Fighter. This is a rumor, but we know Legendary and Capcom are developing a live action directed by Keita Sakurai, Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centino, Roman Reigns are all in talks to star in it.
Sure.
Bring it.
[00:47:56] Speaker B: Why not? I mean, it's like I. I'm super excited for the next Mortal Kombat. Like, Street Fighter needs a real adaptation. Like, the animes are great. There's. They're definitely some of the higher highly rated anime movies from back in the day, and they still are awesome. So it's like, yep, that movie is what it is from the 90s. Like, but it still has, like a place in my heart. It's like a fun, stupid 90s movie. So I want to see a Modern Street Fighter movie and I want to see it soon.
[00:48:32] Speaker A: I agree.
I think it's a good time. Like you said, Mortal Kombat did really good.
The second one seems to be on track to be way better. So I think people are kind of as these our age people start taking over.
Like, we're getting more and more of these pretty sweet announcements.
All right, so next we have this Netflix series where Joss Hartnett battles a sea creature.
[00:49:03] Speaker B: I'm in.
[00:49:04] Speaker A: That's it.
Yeah. I guess we're getting a creature feature movie or series by the Jesse McCune who did the Umbrella Academy.
I don't know. I like Josh Hartnett. I like creature features. I don't really know what else I need to know.
[00:49:24] Speaker B: Nope. Sounds like a perfect combination.
Yeah.
[00:49:27] Speaker A: 50Th anniversary of Jaws, Keep bringing things back to the ocean.
[00:49:31] Speaker B: I'm fine with that.
[00:49:33] Speaker A: Totally fine with that.
All right, so next piece of news, Kung Fury director's new movie is Dragonlord, which is a mix of Star wars, madbax and Lord of the Rings.
[00:49:45] Speaker B: I'm in.
[00:49:50] Speaker A: So, yeah, David Sandberg is back to do some more wacky, wacky stuff.
Sure. Let's see what happens.
[00:50:01] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, please. I mean, that sounds ambitious, but delicious. So let's do it.
[00:50:13] Speaker A: Sure.
Sounds great.
Moving on. Luc Besson directed a drag show movie.
It comes out at the end of the month. If you're one of our French listeners, I'm sure it will hit, you know, over here in America at some point.
I guess that's really it. We haven't seen Lucasan in a while.
I do like vampire things. And, you know, even though we just recently got Nosferatu, let's see another Dracula reboot, I guess.
[00:50:52] Speaker B: Yeah. That voyage, the Demeter, all of that stuff. You know what I mean?
It never. It doesn't have to end, honestly, if it's fresh.
So we will see exactly what this means. And I'll check That.
[00:51:11] Speaker A: Yeah. No, no, Lucasan, like, bring it, bring it.
Incredibles 3, which, I'll be honest with you, I didn't even know was actually happening until I read this article today.
But the director of Elemental, Peter Sohn, is tapped to direct incredibles 3. I don't know when these sorts of things are animated. I don't know. You know, back in the day, Pixar movies used to take four years to make. I'm sure it doesn't take that long nowadays. But just because we got the announcement, you know, I don't, I don't know when we're going to hear some more stuff for a little while, but I'm glad. This is another Incredibles movie.
[00:51:49] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure, for sure.
[00:51:54] Speaker A: Robert Eggers, speaking of Nosferatu, apparently he is supposed to be doing A Christmas Carol.
Willem Dafoe, who he's worked with numerous times now, would be Scrooge.
Robert Eggers seems to be again, another person who's like constantly doing something all the time, though.
Like he's announced for like a new thing all the time.
[00:52:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Which I think is, is a good thing. He has a, he has an interesting directing style.
His movies are very much like out of the ordinary.
The way he films the scenes he makes, all of that stuff is neat. Whether or not the movie is good or not, you know, I have, I have arguments against some of them, but I would. This sounds really cool. Willem Dafoe is a great actor and I, I think this is just that this, it would be a neat take on such a classic tale.
So we'll see.
[00:52:53] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm. Listen, whatever he wants to do, and I hope it's creepy, like, I hope it's not even like, you know what I mean? I would be totally fine with that.
Occult is My Passport is the next movie from HAVOC director Gareth Evans. Raid director Gareth Evans set to be like a Yakuza war.
So the old movie, I think, which was made in like, yeah, 1967.
Evans will be rebooting that again. This is another one of those directors that I will watch him do whatever it is he decides he wants to do because he makes great movies. And if he wants to make a Yakuza noir, I mean, that's pretty much his entire wheelhouse. So bring it on.
[00:53:41] Speaker B: You said you, you didn't like Havoc as much as you thought you would or.
[00:53:45] Speaker A: I didn't as much as I thought. I didn't finish it though. And so I need to watch it like not at 11 o' clock at night when I'm like, half falling asleep and see if I like it better.
[00:53:57] Speaker B: Okay. All right. Yeah, sure. I still need to watch it, so. Yeah. Okay.
[00:54:03] Speaker A: All right. So Spaceballs 2.
We got it.
Mel Brooks is 99 years old and is going to direct this effing movie. Like, that's insane.
[00:54:15] Speaker B: It is.
[00:54:16] Speaker A: So everyone who's alive is back, including Rick Moranis.
[00:54:24] Speaker B: Let's go.
It's. It was an excellent announcement.
Yeah. I don't know what. I don't know what these guys have. Hgh, you know, the Fountain of Youth. I don't know what. What rich people have.
But, yeah, if. And he wants to do a trilogy, so it's just like, it's such a. It's such a good time, especially since so much, like, has changed cinematically.
Yeah. And there's been more Star wars and more corporate, you know, stuff going. So it'll be a really interesting movie, I'm sure. And that, you know, it's. Who's doing it? Amazon.
Yeah.
[00:55:05] Speaker A: Lots to riff on.
And, you know, what's funny is, like, we're getting Naked Gun spoof movie. There's just. It doesn't exist so much nowadays, that genre of comedy.
So it's going to be very interesting to see, A, if it's good because it's been quite a long time, and B, the audiences give a shit because of that. Like, we grew up with it.
[00:55:29] Speaker B: Right.
[00:55:30] Speaker A: The young kids. You know what I mean? Like, that's where I'm like, you know, even a Naked Gun, I'm like, are kids gonna care about this? Is this funny?
[00:55:39] Speaker B: Like, yeah, because I don't know. Doesn't exist in the same world.
[00:55:44] Speaker A: It's his son.
[00:55:45] Speaker B: Yeah, right. Exactly.
So, yeah, I just, you know, I think what happened was, like, the scary movies, all of those spoof movies went on for a long time and they burned. They burned out.
[00:55:58] Speaker A: They started great and then.
[00:55:59] Speaker B: They did. They did. Because it was kind of like the end of that other era.
[00:56:04] Speaker A: Yeah.
If it was on Tik Tok, maybe it would do very well.
[00:56:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:56:18] Speaker A: Yeah, that's it.
[00:56:22] Speaker B: All right.
[00:56:23] Speaker A: Just Russell Crowe seems to be doing just fine with all of his movies. He is going to be in the Highlander remake directed by Chad Stahleski, starring Henry Cavill.
Mgm. Again, Amazon coming real strong.
Next year should be a huge year for them. And Russell Crowe again, added to this movie. Sure, why not? He was also in that movie about the hunter, Craven, So, you know, he can just do what he wants.
[00:57:01] Speaker B: Yes, yes.
[00:57:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:57:03] Speaker B: Craven, the hunter guy.
Yeah. I don't know.
I can't wait for details of this movie.
Just, you know, the director alone.
Will he play a Ramirez character? Will he be the villain? Who knows?
I just watched Highlander again for the other day for the a millionth time.
[00:57:24] Speaker A: And it doesn't get old.
[00:57:25] Speaker B: And I just, I'm really excited that they're gonna bring this back, so.
[00:57:30] Speaker A: Me too.
Other things that I'm excited about.
Dragon's Lair is finally getting a director along with Ryan Reynolds. Coming. Coming at it the net Netflix video game adaptation will be coming.
James Bobbin is going to be directing it.
[00:57:52] Speaker B: So yeah, I think this has been in the rumor mill for a while or at least production.
Pre production. It has because Ryan Reynolds was.
Has been attached to it, I believe. So, yeah.
[00:58:07] Speaker A: They're doing it as a choose your own adventure.
So the script, well, actually originally it was going to be like a choose your own adventure and I think now they, they've changed it.
[00:58:18] Speaker B: Interesting.
[00:58:19] Speaker A: So, okay, we'll see.
And then finally, movie news. Dennis Villeneuve will be directing the next James Bond film.
I don't really know what else to say other than that's one of the greatest things I've ever heard. So I'm great for sure. Very good for sure.
[00:58:37] Speaker B: And we'll see what Amazon does with the product.
[00:58:41] Speaker A: So yeah, yeah, I.
Oh gosh, more.
[00:58:46] Speaker B: Money than the gods.
So yep.
[00:58:50] Speaker A: So yeah, can't wait for that when it comes. And then let's jump over to our final piece of news. We are in gaming news.
First things up, Turtles. Seems like there's a new Turtles game announced every episode for sure.
[00:59:09] Speaker B: That's that. Yes, yes.
[00:59:11] Speaker A: It's like do more movies. Okay. Quit throwing all these frickin video games. Not that I'm complaining.
[00:59:17] Speaker B: Are you complaining?
[00:59:19] Speaker A: I'm not complaining. So we're getting a new one, Empire City.
This one is from Cartopia Studios. It's going to be the first ever VR game.
I don't know what that means.
You know what I mean? Like, is it like the Batman one that we got, which is like amazing. Arkham something.
[00:59:43] Speaker B: Arkham Something is actually the title Arkham Something. The next Arkham Something.
[00:59:52] Speaker A: But yeah, it's going to be on steam. You're going to need a headset. It's supposed to be a mix of action platforming.
You're going to be able to step into the role of one of the turtles.
It could be one of the greatest Turtles games ever because they've never done anything like this. I don't know. But it's coming.
[01:00:09] Speaker B: I don't play VR But I'll find somebody that does.
[01:00:13] Speaker A: But now you will. Chris, don't push it on me.
I will try. Not really.
[01:00:19] Speaker B: Player one.
[01:00:21] Speaker A: That's it. Wizards of the Coast.
Actually, I did want to talk about this real quick. The guy from.
That guy from Halo, one of the, I don't know, creators of Halo or something, stepped into the role of chief head officer over at Dungeons and Dragons specifically. And he said that they changed the way that they're going to do things with Dungeons and Dragons to make it more of a franchise format. And what they mean by that, which we've been talking about, Itch, which is video games, comic TV series, books, movies, like they, you know as well as the game, and they just really want to push even more for next year.
[01:01:10] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, before we edited our notes, we did have the comic news as well. So, I mean, they're definitely moving forward in this.
In this realm, which is good. I mean, they want to kind of make it, like, cohesive and connected, like in its own. Right.
[01:01:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:01:29] Speaker B: Okay.
Yep, yep.
[01:01:32] Speaker A: So right now, Dungeons and Dragons and Giant Skull, they're going to be putting in a new single player Dungeons and Dragons game.
Obviously, I think we've talked about what it could be. Could it be a drizzit game? Could it be something else? We don't know.
[01:01:48] Speaker B: But yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'm just. I'm just so hesitant on it. It's like you got Baldur's Gate 3, which is the defining moment of, like, RPGs and, and playing DnD as a video game.
I played that drift game that was the Forgotten Realms game. That was like kind of like a looter you could play with your friends. That was okay.
So, yeah. I mean, is this like the Witcher? You know, that kind of game? I don't know. Right. So what's gonna really work? What. What really immerses the player into the world? And how are you gonna. How are you gonna even compare what Baldur's Gate 3 did? Right. And without criticism or you gotta do something a little bit different. So, yeah, I'm excited. I just. I just hesitantly, like, I hope they do the right thing, you know, and make good games.
[01:02:49] Speaker A: Make good.
[01:02:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:02:50] Speaker A: Speaking of games that are just fantastic.
Final Fantasy Tactics, the Ivalice Chronicles is going to be coming to PS4 and PS5 September 30th.
I don't really know what else to say other than, give me this and I will give. Give you money.
Yeah, that's. That's it.
[01:03:14] Speaker B: Yeah. I pre ordered it on Switch Already. Okay. It's interesting because they.
When they did the.
When they did the War of the Lions, which I have for psp, they're not including that content, so they're kind of reverting back to the original game.
They're giving you a remastered version of it and also the classic version. So you can play either. They've updated with a voice track, they've updated, you know, music, all of that stuff.
I'm not a big Tactics game fan, but I love this game.
[01:03:49] Speaker A: I was gonna say it's curious because you don't like this stuff.
[01:03:52] Speaker B: No, but it's like. I mean, like Midnight Suns. I loved Midnight Suns.
Yeah. Some of it's just like. It's too.
[01:03:59] Speaker A: You also like Final Fantasy.
[01:04:01] Speaker B: It's too much. Exactly. These, like, Final Fantasy Tactics was like, a little more grounded, I guess, a little bit more simple versus, like the Aliens game that just came out. That I would just get utterly destroyed at or even XCOM is tough for me.
I'm just not a super active video game player where it's like I need to be constantly vigilant about what the fuck's going on. So.
Right, right.
[01:04:30] Speaker A: Which that. That super makes sense.
But it's out or it's coming. It's coming out. Sorry.
[01:04:35] Speaker B: The ball and can't wait.
[01:04:37] Speaker A: Cannot wait, Cannot wait.
Something. I didn't put it in here, but I'm gonna put it in here right now because, you know, it's me. Tony Hawk 3 and 4 reboot comes out today, and I forgot all about it. I was like, wait, what? What is this? As I'm reading this video game notes, I need to go open up my.
[01:04:57] Speaker B: PlayStation, dust it off.
[01:05:02] Speaker A: One and two is so good. Like, that came out in 2020 during the pandemic, and it was just great with Jack Black producing that reboot and it's so freaking good. So. Never would have thought we'd get 3 and 4, but 3 and 4 are out, so if you're a Tony Hawk fan, those are out.
Something that is coming out. Speaking of James Bond, we got our first game trailer for First Light.
This is like James Bond meets Nathan Drake. I had seen a lot of shit about it, but then I also saw a lot of great stuff about people feeling. And it is a James Bond single player adventure game. And you're complaining?
[01:05:51] Speaker B: Little Splinter Cell in there. Like, yeah, Hitman, right?
Yeah, yeah.
[01:05:57] Speaker A: I mean, I think Hitman.
Yeah, it is. It's IO is making it. So it's the Hitman people. Like, I'm sorry, the Hitman Games are effing awesome.
[01:06:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
So people. People complain about it.
[01:06:10] Speaker A: People complain about it. But it's coming and I can't wait.
All right. See remnants, which is this.
I don't even know how to. Puppets, rocking pirates, mermaids.
This trailer has everything and it is creepy and weird and I. I think.
[01:06:33] Speaker B: You picked a good one.
Yeah.
The state of play that happened a while ago now was really good and just put out a lot of cool stuff. And this was just.
They just keep. Keep pushing the pirate theme.
So.
[01:06:50] Speaker A: Can't wait.
[01:06:51] Speaker B: I'll check that out.
[01:06:52] Speaker A: You want to be a pirate?
[01:06:53] Speaker B: I want to be a pirate. Gotta be a pirate.
[01:06:57] Speaker A: Other sea things that are happening. Sword of the Sea.
This is by the people who made Abzu, though. And Journey.
Journey being one of the greatest games ever created.
This looks like that same type of aesthetic and the music and everything else. And honestly. Oh, the Pathless. Did you ever play that one?
[01:07:22] Speaker B: I didn't. I didn't.
[01:07:24] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:07:25] Speaker B: What I. Yeah.
[01:07:27] Speaker A: Worth.
[01:07:27] Speaker B: It really gets me about this game. It seems like a freaking snowboarding game with tricks and stuff as well.
[01:07:33] Speaker A: Hover sword.
[01:07:34] Speaker B: So. And then just like it's a really cool combination of all of those games, so it'll be neat to see how it. How it plays.
[01:07:44] Speaker A: Yeah, I've. I've played Abzu and Journey multiple times. Like, I. I really love both of those. Pathless. I think I need to go back and play. I don't remember that one as much, but anyway, so. Sea of the Sword of the Sea. I actually think I'll keep this in here because you can order it off of that link.
So we'll keep that on there.
Resident Evil. This is another one of those trailers where I don't know what I'm watching.
[01:08:14] Speaker B: Oh.
[01:08:15] Speaker A: All of a sudden it is a Resident Evil game. So looks like a cool trailer.
You know, we've been a fan of the series. Been talking about this for the last 14 years, however long we've been doing. 13 years that we'd do this show, we'd talk about Resident Evil.
[01:08:30] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Love it. Yeah. I mean, 7 and 8 were fun.
It's cool to see the next. The next chapter especially.
I was reading this article, but this guy who was watching and it was expecting it and then it didn't come. It didn't come and then it.
And it was just. It was kind of like just a really good comedic article about the reveal.
So, yeah, this is exciting. The world just keeps growing and as it should.
[01:08:59] Speaker A: Yeah, I love it. Yeah. More Resident Evil.
Namco has Announced its light gun.
This is kind of a neat little thing. So you get the light gun, it's packaged with a few games including Time Crisis.
And if you were a fan of those arcade shooters or I mean Dreamcast, you could also do it with those and stuff like that. But yeah, arcade shooters, if you were a fan, it's getting all packaged together, which is kind of cool that Namco's doing that.
[01:09:34] Speaker B: Yeah, no, absolutely. I mean it's. They're still popular in arcades and it's about time that they've.
They put out some technology for it. Updated stuff. I always love just shooting at the screen no matter what game it was. So.
[01:09:52] Speaker A: Love it. Yep, I agree with that. I still play them in arcades. And then finally in the world of handhelds, Xbox is. Got a huge announcement. So last year I think is when we got the PlayStation Portal.
[01:10:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:10:08] Speaker A: Where you could play your PlayStation library on the go. Now rag Ally, sorry, Rog Ally and Xbox are combining their powers to bring their next portable. So there's the Rog Xbox Ally and then the Ally X if you are a more, I don't know, advanced player. But what do you think about this? We're Steam Deck users. Is this needed?
Does it anything? Do you care?
[01:10:38] Speaker B: I do because there's a lot of people out there that are just like, there's better handheld systems than the Steam deck. And I'm like, I'm not a big like needing more guy, but it is kind of like the Steam Deck does everything I needed to do. And it's kind of intriguing to be like, oh, there's a. There's better stuff out there for more intense gaming, heavier gaming, whatever. And there'll be a Steam Deck too, of course.
My biggest thing about Xbox is Steam accessibility. And I'm just like, they've been talking for a long time. Will this have it? Will you be like, when will they combine the two? Because that's something that's going to change my console gaming completely. If you with the whole thing with PlayStation. I love PlayStation. I've always bought PlayStation. But all of a sudden this, like this change that they've done since the PS5 Pro, the six they've announced. It's. It's getting harder for me to be like, I like, I'm Gonna buy a PS6 because the PS plus is too expensive for what it is.
The game pass is excellent and you can do it without an Xbox even. Right. So there's a lot more accessibility there, a lot more day one stuff, a lot more everything.
If Xbox does give you Steam access.
It's game over. I think Xbox has been kind of floundering. They're always like, kind of like shit on as. As the second, as the second or third console, even, even Nintendo, I think is better than Xbox at times.
And I'm just like, if they can make it a P. Like if you're gonna be paying PC prices for consoles, then make it a fucking PC and put Steve on there.
[01:12:24] Speaker A: So they say, yeah, I just read it. So include Rog. Alyx will allow users to access and launch their Steam library directly from the Xbox.
[01:12:34] Speaker B: That's. That's the thing. It's like, this is not an Xbox though. So are you hooked? Can you hook this up to your tv? Does it work the same? This is where we're getting, like, if these handhelds are little systems that are as powerful as a PS4, as a PS5 and you hook it up to your TV, this is, this is where we're at and you just take it on the go. The PS Portal was just not really that attractive to me because really I was doing that on my PSP. I was like, I could take my PSP to work, I could play my PS4.
And then it just, you know, that was that. So it was nothing new. It wasn't like. It wasn't a gaming system, which now they're talking about putting out anyways, with a nut, you know, with, with discs. What a. You know, downloadable games in its own system. But I don't know, I. This is interesting, especially Steam accessibility. I think Steam accessibility is the key to the next step in all of this and just giving players more of what they pay for.
[01:13:38] Speaker A: So, yeah, this is, this is Xbox's way of saying, we don't want you to go buy a Steam Deck.
Like really, this is it. Because the Rog Ally has been around for a while, while, and that has been the biggest competition to the Steam deck. I have a friend who has Rog Ally and it was like this far. This is far better than the Steam deck as far as what you're getting. But just like a Switch is proprietary to Nintendo and like my Portal is proprietary to PlayStation. The portal works amazing with the PlayStation. Sure, this Xbox Ally will work great with the Xbox. You know what I mean? The Rog Ally worked really good as a PC but also a Steam player.
Steam. I think the, you know, the Steam deck works great because it's made by Steam. So it does everything great. All the other bullshit is the stuff that makes it harder, you know, when you try to access the God gallery and you know all those other kind of places where you're trying to get it. So that's another portion of it too, you know what I mean? Like how much work do I need to do to try to access all my games?
Or is this a one stop shop? And that to me is like other than Nintendo and PlayStation's proprietary stuff. You said I get all of Xbox and I get all of Steam on one. It would make me go, okay, that's my way of being an Xbox gamer.
[01:15:00] Speaker B: Because PlayStation games come out for PC, do they not? Right. So it's like it's not. Eventually they do. They put PlayStation games out. That's the, that is the one thing that is like, is the argument. It's like if you can access your PlayStation games onto a PC and a system can do all of that because Xbox won't probably allow you to do that but.
And PlayStation will let you do that there. But if you, if they develop this ultimate portable PC that can do it all like that's, that's where it's at. So because it's just those exclusives, that's it. Those PlayStation exclusives is what has always like drawn me to that system.
[01:15:45] Speaker A: Well, now you don't have to if you want to wait.
So Chris, where can you find us?
[01:15:53] Speaker B: We're all over the interwebs at a little website called don't forget a towel.com and on socials @dfatent, DFAT, E N T.
Hashtag, hashtag.
[01:16:07] Speaker A: All of those places you could find us and more. This is Casey saying go read your comics.
[01:16:14] Speaker B: And this is Chris saying don't forget a towel.
