This is Chris, this is Casey, and we are back for our monthly installment of the Geekly News. [00:00:25] Speaker A: The best news in the entire galaxy. Chris. [00:00:27] Speaker B: I fully believe that and endorse that statement. And to prove it, I think we should talk about how much we're geeking out since the last show we both went to see Spider Man. It's actually very rare that we've both seen the movie so quickly that we can actually discuss it shortly because of this very thick episode. Thanks to San Diego Comic Con. Yes. [00:00:56] Speaker A: Yes. So, yeah, mutually geeking out on Spider man, for sure. I saw a lot of horror movies. I saw the Back Rooms. I saw a Final Destination. I don't know, but just a bunch of stuff. Like, I finally got to catch up on a bunch of movies. Oh, the. What's the video game one? Until Dawn. [00:01:19] Speaker B: Watched that. [00:01:20] Speaker A: That was okay. Um, but they will kill you. That was great. Yeah. So, like, I don't know. Most of the movies that have come out this year have been really solid, so. Been geeking out on the movies, man. [00:01:34] Speaker B: Nice. Yeah, I've. I've just been playing Fallout 76. That's. That's my life right now. Besides schooling and soccer and stuff like that. That's all I have time for is to go to the wasteland and spend well over 100 hours already on it. But, yeah, I've been wanting to play that MMO for a long time, and they fixed it, and I love it, and I'm really enjoying it. [00:02:00] Speaker A: Heck, yeah, man. I love that. [00:02:03] Speaker B: Spider man was great. I thought it was awesome. I honestly, you know, I went opening weekend because, a. I didn't want spoilers to ruin it for me. Yeah. Because there was so much, like, hype about what was gonna happen. They did a great job keeping it. Honestly. Like, we had ideas. There was definitely like, oh, this is who Sadie Snake is playing, and blah, blah, blah. But nonetheless, even going into it, I was like, it could be any. Any of these three characters that I was. I was thinking was gonna be. And I. You know, I'm not a big Spider man fan. I like Spider Man. Yeah. But I love this movie. I did. And I tell you this all the time, it's like, I'm not a big fan of no Way Home. And as much as some people are, including you, I felt that that movie had so much fan service. It was. Didn't do it for me. Going back to the street level. Spider man, away from this big world. Spider man of the MCU that they introduced the direction they went to this, this hit a lot of really important points for me as far as why I love this movie so much. I thought it was just a well written movie. I thought it was a well shot movie. And it, and honestly, it's my favorite Spider man movie that it's been made period in live action. And it might be, well one of my favorite MCU movies because I'm still here thinking about it and how much I want to see it again. So it was really impactful for me as far as like, I'm happy to see that the MCU has done some good stuff as of. [00:03:51] Speaker A: Yeah, it was the best. It probably is the best live action. I've seen it twice. Just. [00:04:01] Speaker B: Did you. That's awesome. [00:04:02] Speaker A: Yeah, of course, of course I had to. It was just, it's, it's the most grown up that we've seen this guy ever, you know, Spider man. And it really dealt with a lot of Spider man type issues. And so it was a very much the whole point of the movie is that metamorphosis to an adult. And you know, it was like, okay, this is Spider Man. This is the way he's supposed to be. And these are literal scenes from all, from the video games. Like all of the fighting was just like, it just made me think, how can they not just do an Arkham City game? Like, or an Arkham Asylum? Like, they just did it with this Spider Man. They just took those same fight sequences in the sneaking around and all that stuff. And I was like, they can do this with Batman. They could do this. [00:04:54] Speaker B: Yeah, they could. But they won't. They won't, my friend. It's, I don't know. I, I, it was funny. I was reading an article because of the, the Batman Lego game that come out and they're just like, where's the Spider man version of this? That's, that's the other thing. Like, that's what I would also see. I would love to see something like that. But, but nonetheless, great movie. If you haven't seen it yet, well, you weren't part of that greatest box office of all time record. It just set. [00:05:26] Speaker A: It made a billion dollars. You've seen it. If you listen to this show, you have seen that movie. [00:05:32] Speaker B: Yeah, it's insane. It's insane to me because it's just like, oh, it, it beat Endgame. Okay, well, we're talking about a whole like we're back. Like it's back comic book movies. This whole like negativity. About how they're not popular anymore, they're not going to make money anymore. Well, guess what? Spider man just did it. [00:05:51] Speaker A: So see, I don't know if Doomsday will make this kind of money. [00:05:54] Speaker B: I don't think it will. A lot of people, I think this [00:05:57] Speaker A: is Spider man and who consistently. [00:06:02] Speaker B: I also think it's the hype of, hey, we don't know what's going to happen in this movie. Like, we gotta go see it opening weekend. I think that did a lot for the movie itself, so. Which was. It's great to see because we've had this discussion so many times about how things are just ruined and you can't, we can't have, we can't have nice things. Well, we did and we will again. Once again. So anyways, let's get into the news, get right into Marvel, because San Diego Comic Con brought us a lot of cool news, including our long awaited announcement of a Ghost Rider movie. Movie. An official casting of Ryan Gosling. We don't know which Ghost Rider, but Kevin Feige loved the treatment that Gosling threw at him. So it's happening. [00:06:56] Speaker A: Yeah, I like that he manifested this character and I like Ryan Gosling. It's a character that we have wanted to see on the big screen and. Yeah, bring it, bring it on. I'm down. [00:07:09] Speaker B: Danny, catch. [00:07:11] Speaker A: No, I think they're good, Johnny Blaze. I think they're starting over for everybody. I think they're going back to basics. So, yeah, [00:07:25] Speaker B: Black Panther 3, we got a big announcement of the new Black Panther. David Johnson, who you might remember from Alien, Romulus and many other things. I think the long walk as well. He will be the new Black Panther, the son of t'. Challa. [00:07:45] Speaker A: I'm into it. You know, I thought this kid's done a good job in the couple roles that I've seen him in. And I think that's another, like Coogler's back as well. So I know it's in good hands and yeah, I'm into it. [00:08:02] Speaker B: Another thing I'm into is the momentum of mutants that are coming at us. I mean, spoiler alert. After Spider man, we, we know that they're, they're in like overdrive for this. The X Men from our, you know, early adulthood, I should say, are making their last appearance on the big screen with Doomsday. Yeah, Doom will probably murder them all. But we all knew that a new SMT was on its way. But there's been a. I think this is official. I keep saying different things, but according to the Interwebs. Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost. So that's, that's a big, that's a big casting because we've got, you know, we got two big mutants already for the new age of X Men. [00:08:58] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm, I'm excited. I love, I love her. I think she's great. I love her in the babysitter movies. And ready or not. No, like, she's just a good actress. I like that character a lot. You know, I don't want to speculate yet until we start hearing more announcements of how, where they might go, but I would think given like The X Men 97 thing, you know, maybe we'll get Genosha. Like maybe we'll. Or Krakoa or whatever that place was like. [00:09:30] Speaker B: Well, you know, that makes me question though too, a lot of things. Like, is x Men 97 a prequel to the 2000 x Men's, you know, is a prequel to the X Men. We knew. How are they going to treat this right? It's like, what world, what universe did that exist in? So I, it's, it's really confusing. But since we've gone back and we have a young casting for, you know, Jean Gray. So where are we starting at the beginning? Are we starting where they. On the way to Westchester and going to the Institute? Right. So. [00:10:07] Speaker A: Certainly seems that way. [00:10:09] Speaker B: Seems that way to me. But I'm, I'm super excited. We mentioned Avengers Doomsday. They did drop the trailer prior to Comic Con. I'm excited for this movie. I'm not gonna sit here and be like, do they develop doom enough? Of course they didn't develop doom enough yet. The idea was that we were supposed to have Jonathan Majors as Kang and have this whole multiverse thing. And then it got shit to bed. So they had the scramble and they're putting this movie together with the Russo brothers, who I trust very much with the mcu and I will have faith in this movie and hopefully it will be a lot of fun and set us up for Secret wars, which we know is on the way as the only MCU movie of 2027. [00:10:55] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm finally watching Loki season two. [00:10:58] Speaker B: Oh, I gotta do that. Yes. [00:11:00] Speaker A: I didn't. And so I know you're supposed to. And I'm very curious to see how this multiverse breaks down. You know what I mean? And I, there's. It's already very Kang heavy. I didn't watch Quantumania and now I'm like, but this is after Quantumania. [00:11:18] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:11:19] Speaker A: I don't the pivot with Robert Downey Jr. Is doom has been suspect since the announcement. I'm curious how they're going to do it. [00:11:30] Speaker B: Yeah, me too. Especially since we are talking about Multiverse. We are talking about the Fantastic Four come from a different universe completely. Yeah. So we'll see how they close it out. Which is probably secret wars and just merge everything together like they did with the Hickman series. Even though I was hoping for more the, you know, the 80s secret war. But it's okay. It's okay. I'll get over it. Michael Waldron, speaking of Loki. Right. Is supposedly going to be taking on the Nova project. And so there's been a lot of speculation about this since Nova Corps showed up in Guardians of the Galaxy and so forth. But right now they say Noah movie is in development at Marvel, which shifts the project away from the original Disney plus plan. [00:12:24] Speaker A: Sure, bring them. Bring them on. That's a character I've always really enjoyed in the comics and I'd love to see him cinematically since they're probably getting away from, you know, Captain Marvel. We're gonna need some more Space Cops. [00:12:43] Speaker B: Absolutely. I guess. Especially since you gotta now compete with Lantern. So it's about to drop. [00:12:48] Speaker A: Wow. That's it, [00:12:51] Speaker B: right. What came first, chicken or the egg? The bad news about some of this stuff is that some projects have been canceled. Wonder man canceled, even though it was renewed strangely. And then also Blade is done. And I don't know if that's to make room for Marvel, like the Marvel Knights. You know, I. I don't know if it's just that original idea, but I think they kind of. Yeah, I don't know. They missed the opportunity on this one. [00:13:21] Speaker A: Yeah, it sounds like they just really didn't have a story and. Which is like, you know, when you get that far along and you get an actor attached who's publicly saying they're the character, why didn't you have a story? You know what I mean? Like, the actors shouldn't even. Like, he signed on to something. And I don't think it was just like, you're going to be an actor. I think it was probably like, hey, you're an Oscar, winning, Emmy, winning, whatever. Here's this script or here's this idea for this movie. Do you want to be a part of it? He doesn't attach himself to projects. [00:14:01] Speaker B: No. I mean, they even had him do the voice at the end of the Eternals Black Knight. Like they had something they wanted to do. And as it becomes Eternals got on, which I didn't hate Eternals. But the. [00:14:15] Speaker A: No, but you don't remember it [00:14:19] Speaker B: probably because, you know, there you go. It was late at night, you know, when I watched it. And I don't know if I saw it in theaters. So. Yeah, it's like, do I remember in Humans. I remember it was okay. Maybe because everybody said it was so bad that when I watched it, you know. Sure. But low expectations make things better from the world of the Netflix series. Rosario Dawson was Night Nurse for those shows. And supposedly she did say that she filmed a scene for Spider Man. Brand New Day, which had to be cut. But I do love the attention to detail on that, that they were going to bring another character in from that. [00:15:05] Speaker A: I was actually surprised we didn't see more from that world. Honestly. [00:15:11] Speaker B: I don't understand. [00:15:14] Speaker A: Go on. [00:15:14] Speaker B: No, I'm just gonna say, like, the Fisk's. That lady who helped Fisk in Daredevil that the. The one who's always like the council lady or whatever her name is. She was in Spider Man. But they don't want. Like, what's the legal problem? We always hear that Kingpin can't show up in a Spider Man. Daredevil showed up as Matt Murdock in a Spider Man. Like, what is. What is our problem here? [00:15:38] Speaker A: We still have this can't be Daredevil. They can't be Kingpin because Fox. Well, now Disney owns. You know, like, maybe because of that. Maybe. Yeah, because it's. Listen, I understand if you can't show certain things, but I don't know. I would have liked to see like an alias Investigations. I would have liked to have seen, you know, something from those street levels. It was a little weird now, knowing how, like, Punishers here, anyone. The Hand is there. Like, you have access to at least the majority of this. [00:16:17] Speaker B: How. How can you not talk about the fallout from Fisk's being mayor? Being mayor. That's not even mention it. Not even have like a Daily Bugle. [00:16:27] Speaker A: And there was no newspaper. He wasn't paying for his apartment. And at first I was like, oh, okay, he's good. We're gonna see him shooting pictures. And we didn't. And I was like, well, I'm not gonna nitpick this, but, like, also, like, how are you paying for anything right now? [00:16:43] Speaker B: My friend said this to me in the theater and I said to him, listen, he's. I mean, he's. He got money from Tony Stark somehow. [00:16:50] Speaker A: That's what. That's what Nisha said too. And she was like, he doesn't need the money. He probably got like, some fund. But he doesn't want to brag because he's Peter. And I was like, fine. That's fine. [00:17:01] Speaker B: I was like, science fiction. Exactly. [00:17:05] Speaker A: I didn't dwell on it, but it was just when they miss those world up building opportunities, especially when it's like, you. They did a real good job of world building in this one. And yeah, it was a little weird that you just didn't have, like a newspaper saying daily people, like, just very strange. You're in New York, dude. A, you know, car drives by. Like, I don't know. Like, that was one thing about Andrew Garfield's that it did feel like Spider man is here all the time. [00:17:40] Speaker B: I agree. For somebody who's not big, real quick, somebody's not a big fan of. Of John Bernthal's Punisher because of the grunting. Did you enjoy his grunting when he put the Spider man mask on? [00:17:52] Speaker A: It was hilarious. I love shooting it. Hulk was like, screaming. I mean, it was awesome. [00:17:58] Speaker B: Their banter together was awesome. Like, yeah, I thought he was. I didn't know how he was going to fit into that movie, and I thought it was great. And those two are, like, good friends anyway, so it was like a really neat dichotomy. But speaking of the Punisher, the one comic I've been waiting for since the Predator got introduced is. Is Predator versus Punisher. And my dreams have come true this November from Frank, Thierry, and Jesus teaming up. So I'm. I'm pumped for that. Sounds great. [00:18:27] Speaker A: I cannot wait for everything about this. Let's keep it going. [00:18:34] Speaker B: Let's jump over to the other side of the pond. We got another Clayface trailer, the follow up to the teaser. This one just keeps solidifying the fact that I can't wait for this movie. And then if it makes more money than Supergirl, we know the direction that the DC should probably go in, more or less. I feel it's just like. And I mean, it's. It's way less budget too. So, I mean, there is a little bit of an arc. [00:19:03] Speaker A: Yeah, I. I think that's really what it comes down to as well, is like, at least step out of your comfort zone of what you're used to and try these other weirder, smaller budget things. But, you know, I don't. I like Supergirl, and I didn't expect it to be any more than what it was, and I had a good time with it. So, like, I don't. I don't think they missed the ball on it, but it didn't make any money. So apparently, you know, it's not Spider man to people. [00:19:34] Speaker B: Well, that's the thing, too. It's just so much negativity was around that movie, unfortunately. And I did see it in theater since the last time we did a show. And I really liked. I agree with everything you told me about it. So it was unfortunate that the cookie crumbled that way, as they say. [00:19:51] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:19:53] Speaker B: And a good little fun piece of news that we pretty much assumed was that I. What is his name? Zola? I don't even know. Blue Beetle will be showing up man of Tomorrow, so another Zolo, Marinduana, Duana, whatever his name is, will be in the Superman sequel. And this was assumed, I believe from the beginning that he was one of the characters that would be making the transition over from the Snyderverse era, I should say. [00:20:27] Speaker A: Right? Yeah, that's good. I like that kid a lot. You know what I mean? From what you call it, Cobra Kai and stuff, and. And Blue Beetle. So good. That's. That's great casting. [00:20:41] Speaker B: Keep filling up that gathering player. [00:20:44] Speaker A: There you go. [00:20:47] Speaker B: Oh, guess What? The Batman 2 has been delayed once again. So we have about a decade in between movies. No, just joking. But the. The Batman 2 has been pushed to February of 2028. Is it because of the winter setting of the movie or is it because they can't seem to get their shit together in this movie? I'm not sure. [00:21:05] Speaker A: I don't know what is taking so long. Like, you had an idea. You teased a joker. You knew some things were coming. You knew what the next movie would be, especially once it was a success. So, like, I don't know what's going on with that, but yeah, okay, whatever. [00:21:25] Speaker B: Me neither. But we're getting another TV show that was announced. Mr. Terrific was played by Edie Gathigi. That's his name. He'll be getting his own show. And I really like that character in Superman, so that's interesting to me. Also using the small screen for more storytelling, I believe is a good idea. [00:21:54] Speaker A: That's awesome. I like that character. I thought he did a really good job in the movie, so bring it on. [00:22:02] Speaker B: Another Superman character getting his own show is Jimmy Olsen. And that's awesome because I loved that Jimmy Olsen. And I love Jimmy Olsen as a character. And if they go ahead and do a fun show show based on that comic, I really loved, I think it was what's his name from Sex Criminals. What's that author's name? [00:22:25] Speaker A: Matt Fraction. [00:22:26] Speaker B: Matt Fractions. Yeah. I think he did that. Jimmy Olsen 12. [00:22:29] Speaker A: He did, yeah. [00:22:30] Speaker B: Part series. Anyways, Gorilla Grodd will be a main character in this, and I think that's awesome because that's a huge, huge, huge casting. It's going to be Jimmy Tatro. Tatro. And that's really, really cool. I think that's a neat way to introduce a major, major villain into. [00:22:56] Speaker A: That's so cool. All right. Yeah, Bring it. Bring it on. That's so funny. It's going to be like a true crime docu series hosted by Jimmy Olsen. All right. DC Crime. Awesome. That sounds great. [00:23:14] Speaker B: Caped Crusader is back on Amazon Prime. The second season. The animated show just dropped, and they have a companion video game with it, which is cool. I think it's just really funny that we're getting these kind of things that we've talked about for so long that would make sense if they were just dropped at the right time. He man did one. This had, like, this. This exists so. [00:23:38] Speaker A: Well, this came out at the right time, though. So that's. That's in. In alignment. [00:23:45] Speaker B: Absolutely, absolutely. And then, last bit of news here is Booster Gold. The. They were talking about doing a show. It's not happening, unfortunately. [00:23:56] Speaker A: All right, well, that's too bad. I like that character a lot, but I feel like you. You can be allowed to pivot. Just keep going forward. You know what I mean? I feel like. Yeah, so I'm down. [00:24:13] Speaker B: Is it time to even introduce time travel into this world? You know what I mean? It's. There's a lot going on. There's other times to do this with, like, I don't know, Legion of Superheroes and things down the line, so it would make sense to push it, honestly. [00:24:27] Speaker A: Yep. I agree. [00:24:30] Speaker B: Let's go to that galaxy far, far away. The ninth Jedi trailer dropped, and the show drops tomorrow, I think. [00:24:39] Speaker A: Yes. [00:24:40] Speaker B: The next couple days. The first full anime series for Star wars is finally coming. It's based on, I think there's like, two visions shorts that. It was. [00:24:51] Speaker A: Just one. [00:24:52] Speaker B: Just one. Oh, wow. [00:24:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:54] Speaker B: That dipped into that world, and they decided to do a full show, so I'm pretty excited. Love me some anime. Love me some Star wars stuff. [00:25:01] Speaker A: And I love that it takes place 9,000 years in the future. [00:25:08] Speaker B: That crazy. [00:25:10] Speaker A: I know. I love it. [00:25:15] Speaker B: We just got an announcement that Star Wars 5E is basically becoming a real thing into the D and D world. Now that Star wars and D and D has not mashed up before, but this time it's official, and so that's pretty exciting to hear. I mean, it all makes sense that we'll be getting a shit ton of Star wars stuff in 2027 for the 50th anniversary. [00:25:40] Speaker A: Yeah, this is interesting because there's already Star wars as an RPG and there's already Eberron and Spelljammer, which are Wizards of the coast properties that kind of mix in that kind of stuff. So listen, we played Star Wars 5E. I love Star Wars 5E. I'm not opposed to it. It's just like. Okay, like, I think they see what's been going on with magic and I think they in magic has made more money than anything for Hasbro right now. And I think they're trying to figure out the best way to capitalize it. And like the way they announced this trailer was very much like that. And yeah, I, you know, we'll see how this turns out. [00:26:32] Speaker B: Yeah, no, absolutely. I mean, it's just as you and I were talking the other day, I mean, when. When does the Star wars magic, the Gathering second announce? It doesn't. Next year, right? It's coming next year. There's no doubt. It's one of those universe beyond things that they just keep secret. And there's no reason to even shy away that. Oh, it already has a trading card game. Yeah, we know. So does Final Fantasy. So does a lot of things that they dibble and dabble into. So, yes, Hasbro has the rights to make Star wars stuff. Why aren't they making it all over a place like this? [00:27:03] Speaker A: Which they will. [00:27:05] Speaker B: They will. Let's jump over to that real galaxy. Star Trek is in flux of what the they think they're doing right now with Paramount merger and all that stuff. So right now the latest news is that the reboot that you know will be set in the far future, the farthest future possible, beyond even discovery. And I mean, you know, beyond Star Trek beyond. So we'll see. We'll see what happens. That's the latest as far as things that do exist. We'll be getting a new 40 episode series called Recollection. It's at webtoon. It's going to be from writer Sam Meggs with art by Kasai Entertainment. It's going to drop readers in the middle of a sprawling mystery set aboard a Federation starship that may not actually have a crew of its own. [00:28:05] Speaker A: Yeah, that's cool. I didn't realize they already have Star Trek. What is Stargazers, which is like a Starfleet romance. So that's cool. Listen, I think all these franchises should be doing weird stuff like this. Like get the money, let them do this kind of things. Like what was it? Lost Stars. Like the fact that that hasn't existed as a movie yet is shocking to me. Or at least a TV show. Like they could have easily have done this and then people would be watching and think about it as like an indoor level property. So anyway, [00:28:44] Speaker B: let's jump over to Crowd Sorcery. First up we have Anne Rice's Immortal Universe, the rpg. [00:28:49] Speaker A: Yes. [00:28:52] Speaker B: Sounds tasty. Oh, oh. There's more news later about this world. But anyways, and raises vampires, the Mayfair Witches and more will all exist within the same tabletop adventure that you put together. Get sexy with. So it's good times. [00:29:11] Speaker A: Yeah, I, I like this. It's a good mix between AMC and Renegade Game Studios, which puts out a lot of great tabletop RPGs. So it's just going to be tackling, you know, her own vampire, the Masquerade and seeing what's different. So we'll keep you posted as that comes live. [00:29:33] Speaker B: And then Also another tabletop RPG called Dungeons Daddies. It's a dad tastic fantasy adventures for the world's most popular role playing game that we legally cannot mention by name. We can. So it's probably what, based around the Dungeon and Dragons format? Yeah, it's a complete compendium for embarking on hilarious misadventures as clueless everyday dads lost in a rowdy, horny fantasy world. They take a road trip through exotic locales with brief stops, roadside attractions and wacky one shot escapades from from level one to 20. New classes, new items, new spells, everything you need to play or run a Dungeons and Daddies camp. [00:30:18] Speaker A: I love it so much. This is such a funny idea. [00:30:21] Speaker B: It's like an amazing amount of stuff you can get with it too. Miniatures and dice and the books and more. So yeah. [00:30:28] Speaker A: Fanny pack. [00:30:30] Speaker B: Fanny pack. I didn't see that. It's just buried within everything. Oh, there it is. Very cool, Very cool. So yeah, we'll leave links in there for both of those crowdsource if you choose to go back them and get even more tabletop RPGs that to put on your list or backlog or whatever you want to call it. We're going to talk about the basics here because we don't have an hour to dedicate to everything that we saw, but we're big Lego fans so we're going to talk about a few Things. Apparently dbz, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball will be getting official LEGO sets, which is kind of crazy because when you share this, I was like, this doesn't look real. And then I read into it. It's very much happening. [00:31:29] Speaker A: Yep, yep. Very excited to see just, just the beginning. Like this Dragon Ball, it's only going to get crazier. So it's the 40th anniversary this year and really excited to see what else comes out. But this is a set. The, like, the minifigures, of course, are awesome. Gillian Anderson came aboard to do a video for it. And if it wasn't for this next one, I would be buying it. But I can only spend so much money on money on legos in one month. Last up in LEGO News, Star Trek, as we predicted, will be getting more and more playsets. With the anniversary of Star Trek the original series coming up, it's time to do the the bridge of the original Enterprise with Captain Kirk and crew. This is much different than the Enterprise D that they did was which was just the ship with some movable spots and then the crew, of course, and minifigures. This is much more of an interactive, yes, overpriced set, in my opinion. But I didn't really give a care and I ordered it because it's my favorite. [00:33:53] Speaker A: So I, I, I got you. [00:33:58] Speaker B: We all do it. We all do it sometimes. Yeah. This is, this looks fun. And I will enjoy building it. I love all the pieces. I love all the minifigures they chose. It was interesting because it's from Tears of the Kingdom, which was their first choice. And you got Link, Ganondorf and Zelda, of course. And you know what, man? They look cool. So, yeah, just excited to see that this show, which is bonkers to me that it's getting made into a TV show in the world of the boys that we can live in this. So, like, yeah, it's. It's coming out. It's shooting now. [00:41:57] Speaker B: Awesome. And then also we have the Crystal Lake shows on its way. We got a teaser for that. Yeah, yeah. [00:42:06] Speaker A: Very, very excited. But anyways, now it's coming over to Disney for whatever reason, but I don't care because I want to see some zombie Archie stuff. [00:43:12] Speaker B: Yeah, it's interesting. It's just that they just recast for this show completely. [00:43:18] Speaker A: I assume so, yeah. Because they can't bring back the quote unquote kids of Riverdale. You know what I mean? So, yeah, it's got to be whole new kids. [00:43:31] Speaker B: Interesting how that turns out. We have it. We have a trailer, which I just opened, of course, for the. For the Lego One Piece special. Now you're a One Piece fan, how do you feel about this? [00:43:46] Speaker A: It looks cute and hopefully something to get my kid more into One Piece, you know. So, yeah, it's same Lego type of humor and One Piece definitely ties into it. So I, I, I can't wait. [00:43:59] Speaker B: It's awesome. Another awesome thing is RoboCop, the TV show has been picked up by, by Amazon Prime. It's got an eight episode order. This has been in development for a long time because I know we've talked about the idea behind this. So what do you, how do you feel about this? Does it work as a TV show better than a movie reboot? Does it? I know it's, you know, James Juan is doing it. Blum House, you know, it's got some good, some good power behind it. So what do you think? What do you think this is? [00:44:41] Speaker A: I think this is a, this is a series that could actually have some legs to it, I think, like exploring. You know, they did it a little bit in the reboot of the movie of like what it was like to like lose his life, you know what I mean? Like his wife, I think a kid and all that kind of stuff and like it explored that a little bit more. And I think with a TV show, you know, is he become more of the, the machine or the man? And you know, they can kind of dig into it and I'm sure it will also be ultra violent because Detroit is very violent. So in real Life and in RoboCop. So I'm, I'm into it. Man, I think this could be really cool. [00:45:28] Speaker B: Another reboot. I guess not reboot, but because they've been building this world, but Blade Runner 2099, we got our first look at that. I kind of forgot that it was in existence and then that dropped. I was like, oh, well, we're back with Blade Runner World. And this. In this new, I guess 50 years after 2049, the replicants rule. Michelle Yao is in it. Hunter Schaefer is the human in it. And this time the humans are more on the run from the Replicants. So it'll be interesting to see what the, how they treat this and how long this lasts. I, I love Blade, I love Blade Runner. So I'm pretty excited for this. [00:46:11] Speaker A: Yeah, this is, this is going to be very interesting to see how this show turns out. I don't know because like, I love 2049, but I don't like the original Blade Runner. And this, I know this is like, I don't know. I guess we'll see. We'll see. [00:46:34] Speaker B: We will. And then we'll debate about it. [00:46:37] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. [00:46:38] Speaker B: And argue about it. Not just joking. Tell us about dungeon crawler Carl. I had a little discussion with my brunch friends the other last Saturday when I went out, who was just like, you need to read this book. You say, I got to read this book. I have it on my. My Kindle. My Kindle Unlimited right now. It's sitting on my phone. And I read the first paragraph. After they told me what the premise was, they're like, don't worry. It's all within the first page. And I'm like, this sounds great. [00:47:07] Speaker A: Yeah, it's. So the news is like the. The voice actor who does the audiobook series, Jeff Hayes, will be continuing his voice acting duties for the TV show to do the voice of Princess Donut. Which is cool, because, like, if you're familiar with. I'm sure he'll do tons of voices. I'm sure he got a really nice paycheck coming to him for this TV show, because audiobooks probably don't pay nearly as much as Peacock. So, yeah, just excited to. To kind of, you know, I was like, when they do that, like, the guy who did the voice of Tombstone and into the spider verse came over and did it, you know, live action for Brand New Day. And, you know, when they do that stuff, it's always cool. [00:47:53] Speaker B: Excellent. I need to read this because everybody just is like, read the book. Or at least the TV show, which is what I do. [00:48:00] Speaker A: But. Yes, yes, yes. [00:48:01] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. The fourth season of Anne Rice's interview. The vampire world is coming, and they're going to rebrand it once. Once again as Queen of the Damned, which makes total sense. And I still need to watch most of the first season, all the second season, and now the vampire Lestat. I have them lined up, and it's not too much for me to do, so I'm pretty excited for this, but I do need to commit. Commit myself to it asap. [00:48:37] Speaker A: I really love and appreciate how they're handling this world. And, like, it's just a cool idea. And it's like she can have multiple seasons if they want her to, if it's going good. You know what I mean? They can go back in time with her. Like, I don't know what the they're gonna do. I just really think it's so cool. And then the next one, it's like, you've got Tale of the Body Thief, and then that guy comes back and does Lestat again. It's just like, is Armand Gonna get his stuff. Like it's crazy to think that they can expand all the books into TV seasons. And so I don't know if anything else has done anything like this. It's a really smart idea. You know. Game of Thrones, I guess. [00:49:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:49:22] Speaker A: You know, I guess not in the same way. Not. Not in the dedicated TV series. You know, maybe Harry Potter will do it when that show comes out. You know, maybe it's a book a season or maybe two seasons for a book. You know what I mean? If they're really going crazy. [00:49:40] Speaker B: Yeah, I heard the book a season as of now. But those books get bigger. [00:49:46] Speaker A: Golden Compass kind of does it actually. The. His Dark Materials. It. It kind of does the three seasons as three books. [00:49:55] Speaker B: Okay. [00:49:56] Speaker A: So preacher. Anyways, whatever. It's a cool idea. I can't wait. I'm going off. The world of Neuromancer is coming to Apple tv. The William Gibson novel that I'm more enticed to read now. Completely. I love cyberpunk stuff and this teaser was really cool too. So I will be checking this out. The. Did you watch the teaser? [00:50:30] Speaker A: I did and I read this book in college. It is where the Matrix got started. It is where you will start seeing some of the stuff in Blade Runner. It is all of those things. And so yeah, it's right up your alley. And this TV series has me more intrigued than Blade Runner does because they really could go quite off the wall with it. Especially if it takes place in that time period too. In the 80s. I can't remember if it does or not. But yeah, I don't know. I'm in. I'm totally in. [00:51:11] Speaker B: Awesome. That makes me even more excited for it. I just have more books I have to read. Anyways. Warhammer 40k. I don't know what's happening with the live action besides that. Now Mike Flanagan's attached to it and we're going to be getting a. They just announced that we'll be getting an animated series first. So Amazon has put some money into it. I see it Seemingly the live action version is so is a big project. It's probably a big undertaking and I'm sure we'll get something eventually. Or not. But at least we'll have an animated series series. [00:51:49] Speaker A: Well, so. So yeah. So the animated series goes off of the secret level episode devoted to it and it goes deeper into that. And Henry Cavill is producing that, but he's also producing and now has gotten Mike Flanigan to come on to write the show, which is, like, insane. And so I think they're going to be putting in a lot of money into this, maybe to be like, their next Fallout type level franchise, because. Yeah, that's crazy. I'm. I'm excited. [00:52:25] Speaker B: Well, that's the thing, too, about Warhammer, though, is that it's huge. There's so much. [00:52:32] Speaker A: It's been going on for a long [00:52:34] Speaker B: time, you know, so it's kind of like if they're going to do it right, they got to be careful because of the a. The fan base is gigantic. There's a lot of lore attached to it, you know, versus, like, Fallout, where there's not a lot to it to build on, and you can easily build your own stuff and then influence the series the way they are. Oh, yeah. So Fallout 5 will take place after the TV show, and we'll have the influences from that. How do you do that with 40K, where it's like, I can. My friends, like, watch these lore videos. I'm like, okay. And then my. My brain melted. So I just. I just assume that, like, this is such a. This is Henry. Henry Cavill loves Warhammer 40K. And so, like, it's in the right hands. And if, like, somebody who's that much of a fan is gonna. Is gonna put the work into it, I hope that people appreciate it. But I do assume that it's going to take a while to make something that. That. [00:53:35] Speaker A: Yeah, I take the time. You know, we, like, we always say it, like, put the time into it, and if it's good, then that's all that matters. So down. [00:53:48] Speaker B: So speaking of video game adaptations, God of War had a little setback because the actor. What's his name there? Ryan Hurst. [00:54:00] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:54:01] Speaker B: Got seriously injured on the set. They have to go back and redo it from the beginning. That sucks. [00:54:14] Speaker A: Or they recast, which they're choosing to recast now. [00:54:19] Speaker B: Dave Bautista is in talks to join this adaptation. He has a good relationship with Amazon. He's been in a couple things as of late with them. I don't know how I feel about it, honestly, about if he was cast as Kratos. I don't know. I was cool with the guy who played Thor in the God of War series, and I've never really seen his face as much except in video game. Digital. Digital world. But I don't know. People are already complaining about this show, so I don't know what the right [00:54:59] Speaker A: move is here, I think you don't use Dave Batista because he's too old and we've already seen him as a painted character with Drax. I just think like, just get someone else, you know what I mean? Like this show is gonna be hopefully going on for years. If it's good, it's the Battlestar Galactica guy, it should be good. So like get somebody who like isn't a full time movie actor either. Like just get, get someone else who can get out there, be jacked and you know, get fucking Alan Richardson. I mean he's busy doing Reacher for Amazon, but you know what I mean? Like, I don't know, some other huge [00:55:43] Speaker B: dude who's cool, cool. No name that. But you know, she's looks much different than she did 20 years ago when watching Arrow. I'm sorry, not 20 years ago. We started this show 12 years ago. But yeah, I was just like, hey, they're like Joseph Morgan and Kitty Cassie are in this new Herbert west reanimator TV show or movie. [00:57:48] Speaker A: Huh. I. Okay, interesting. I feel like, do you have to. You know, I just like Hollywood has been doing really Good right now with original concepts making a lot of money. And so if you want to keep doing this kind of stuff, that's fine, but it just very rarely works out. [00:58:20] Speaker B: Especially when I'm just like, is that really star power? You know what I mean? [00:58:24] Speaker A: No, it's not. [00:58:25] Speaker B: It's made for. This is made for TV movie. Yeah. Where am I right now? Anyways, New, it's called nue from Godzilla -0. Takashi U. Yamazaki will be doing an American movie called New and this is going to be produced by Ridley Scott. And we're not really sure what it's about, but to me, I'm really excited a. Because I thought that guy did an awesome job making the Godzilla movie for almost no money and then made one of the best Godzilla movies I've ever seen in my life. So. And then we have another one coming this year. And so this is exciting to see that he's getting American movie deals and to see what he can do with a huge budget, I'm sure compared to [00:59:22] Speaker A: what I think it was 15 million to do Godzilla. So. Yeah. That's disgusting. [00:59:26] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. It's cheaper than most horror movies. Of course. I mean, I don't know what workers rights are and stuff are over. They're not. [00:59:38] Speaker A: But I mean, it's not funny. But there isn't any. [00:59:43] Speaker B: No, it's not. [00:59:44] Speaker A: There is that too. [00:59:45] Speaker B: This is our cynical laughter. And that's the thing is like, as much as I watched Godzilla movies, there's only so many characters I actually like in those movies. Like, yes, the ones for the, you know, the 80s definitely had characters that went through the movies and they were. Main story, you know, the 90s, not so much, but. And I like that. I like where you have some attachment to characters throughout. Throughout the storytelling. Because that wasn't really what it was about at first. And so I'm excited and they. And that. What sold me on that. On Godzilla minus one was the fact that I gave a. About those characters and it was A great story. So, yeah, I'm excited to see them. [01:01:17] Speaker A: Yeah, man, I'm excited, too. Can't wait. [01:01:22] Speaker B: Dustin Daniel Critten off the Hotness of Spider Man. It's going to be doing a Naruto movie. Apparently. It's been. I'm surprised. This has never, you know, happened before, but this is the time for it to happen, if anything. Yeah. Because it's a huge, huge series. Very popular series, and I'm. I'm excited to see what happens with it. So we'll see. You said we're about to take this off and then you said they're doing casting, so it's real. [01:01:55] Speaker A: It is. It is real. And coming off of what this guy just did with Brand New Day and Shang Chi, like, he knows how to direct action. So I'm. I'm very excited. He worked with the Jackie Chan stunt team for Brand New Day. I saw Jackie Chan on the set behind the scenes. I was like, that's really cool for, like, the hand stuff. [01:02:17] Speaker B: Awesome. Yeah. You can tell, like, yeah, that. That's just badass. We talked about this show or two back. The G.I. joe. G.I. joe movie was up in the air of what was happening, but Dan McBride is. Is taking the reins, thankfully, and he will be doing. He will be taking on the. The privilege of directing the next GI Joe movie Live Action. [01:02:46] Speaker A: Yeah, I. I'm down. I'm down for this because I hope they. I don't want them to give it, like, the motu treatment and make it too funny. But also at the same time, like, don't take it too seriously either. It's GI Joe. Just make it cool. Just talk to the guys working. Working at. On the Energon series and just say, hey, guys, what do you got going on? Give me some ideas. Because they clearly know how to do it. And I hope this leads into that shared universe of the Transformers that we've been getting hinted at forever. [01:03:30] Speaker B: Yeah, it would be cool. And I. And I just think they're kind of waiting to see how that animated series pans out that they announced. [01:03:40] Speaker A: Right. [01:03:41] Speaker B: But I do like the fact that, you know, it's gonna center around Springfield and the secret Cobra town and nice things that are. So Nightmare on Elm street is coming back. They've inked a deal with the estate of Wes Craven. What do you think about this? [01:04:22] Speaker A: I think this is a horrible idea that will fail miserably. And you just. Robert Englund is Freddy. Like, you can put anyone under Scream or, you know, Friday the 13th or. I know what you did last summer. It doesn't have to be a human that we all recognize, but, like, unfortunately for them, Freddy is Freddy. And so you just can't. You just can't do it. Except for that new one, which was cool and I didn't care, so I guess it would. I think it's gonna be horrible. Maybe there's some way that they can impress us, but I can't imagine. I knew that, you know, John Cena was in it and whatnot. We've talked about it. But, yeah, I. I should watch that trailer. And I. Yeah, I mean, I will. [01:05:55] Speaker A: PG13. It's coming to Apple TV, so that's also interesting. I don't know if they're gonna do a movie at all. [01:06:04] Speaker B: Weird. Okay. Yep, this next one sounds great. Honestly, if you're a fan of Sam Raimi, Stephen King. Yeah, Desperation is going to be getting a movie. And. Yeah, I was pretty excited when I actually read this because Sam Raimi seems to be picking up some really cool stuff as of late, as he deserves to. His. His filming is just unique, and we love Sam Raimi. And I. The more creepy stuff he does, the better. So. [01:06:40] Speaker A: Yeah, like, they. They're having him produce it, and it looks like it's the guys who did Final Destination, Bloodlines, Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipski are going to be directing it, which I watched Bloodlines last week, and I liked it a lot. So, yeah, bring it on. That's a good creative team. [01:07:11] Speaker B: And then we're gonna go to our last section of video gaming. Tabletop gaming Gaming all the games. All the gaming. First up, Magic the Gathering. Like we ever. Don't ever talk about this, but there's just more and more news by the day because it's making money as we stated. Making so much money. It's crazy to me honestly how much it makes for Hasbro. And this is why. And as much as you want to complain about. Not you. But as much as people want to complain about universes beyond and. And dibble and dabbling in other ips, it's. It's working. And one that makes a lot of sense. And it's funny because when I first started playing magic, these. Those fake proxy decks would show up in my feed and my social media and it was like, oh, you want this master the universe deck set or whatever, you know, so Commander or whatever. But now it was officially announced that it's going to be getting its own secret layer which. [01:08:17] Speaker A: Awesome. Yeah. Fits into that world. It is fun. It's secret layer. So they can pretty much do whatever they want anyways. And yeah, that's a must get because that will be super cool. I want to see a skeleton card. Just Skeletor card. So Bad [01:08:37] Speaker B: Sorcerer or whatever. Skeleton Wizard. [01:08:40] Speaker A: I wonder. Yeah, I wonder if they'll do. I wonder what they'll do. I don't know if they'll. The next amazing thing that was announced was we've been getting these mystery booster boxes. They've been on number two for a long time. You and I have gotten a couple and they're great. They're a really smart idea. Just the number of cards in these sets plus the original cards they make on top of it. Misery boosters have brought in cards from all. All sets and years of magic dating back now. The next step is the mystery booster Commander, which they've just been revealing a slew of cards from for the last week of what is it called Game Breaker or. I don't even know. Whatever the. Whatever that. The mechanic. No, the mechanic of how it's like breaking the normal game mechanics. So it's like, oh well, guess what? You can have more than 100 cars in your Commander deck or I forget what. It's the exact. They haven't. They have an exact mechanic and it's interesting. [01:09:59] Speaker A: Okay. [01:10:00] Speaker B: So that's cool. Yeah. These cars are nuts. As we've. As we've continued to say. And this will only be available through Secret Lair during of course the. The Times of the conventions and the magicons. So. And I'm trying to get back to this, but it's not here. I thought we shared many cards this week about it. If you're a fan of Edge of Eternities, this is definitely playing into that very well. You and I have talked about some of this art. It's just not great. But that's, that's happened across a lot of these sets. Some of it I like and I've, you know, I've done my usual pre order for some of this stuff already. I'm excited for it because I do want. I do love Star Trek and I do want some more starships for my, for my edge of the tourney stuff. It's fun. [01:11:55] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Listen, whatever, whatever you're into, if this is what you're into, then that's great. You know what I mean? Like I'm sure once we get more reveals I'll come around on getting some singles and definitely like you said, some spaceships I'm in for. Those are a great mechanic. So. [01:12:15] Speaker B: Absolutely. Absolutely. And then last up in magic news we. We got an announcement of three in universe sets coming in 2027. So we're starting to get that. That map of what's coming next year. We have, we have two new worlds that they're going to and then a return to Kamigawa which I'm very excited for, which will include Kaijus, which is wild to me. But the one of the others is Noctis the Sunken Realm and Titan Breach which is Kamigawa. And then Zulfir which is like Afrofuturism. Yeah. Yep. All three of those sound great to me. [01:12:57] Speaker A: Yep, they all sound awesome. I'm excited to See what they do. Like each one of those sets just is like, you know, we're gonna want to go all in on those. [01:13:11] Speaker B: That's why they're making the monies. Anyways, Bethesda's come out with some official news that we've been waiting for for a long time. At least I have that Fallout 3 and New Vegas are truly going to be getting remasters. That Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5 absolutely do exist and they're on their way. But Obsidian is also working on a new Fallout game within that world. So I think that's awesome because Fallout New Vegas was one of the most popular entries into that. Obsidian is a great video game maker from outer worlds as well. So I'm, I'm really pumped to see how much more we get from this world because it seems like we always have to wait a very long time for these major games to come out out because they're huge, they're massive and they have to deliver each time. Right. So yeah. Anyways, they're. They're coming and hopefully those remasters come out sooner than later because yeah. Give you more to do in the meantime. So good job. [01:14:20] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah. [01:14:24] Speaker B: We were talking about how Star wars is getting a dnd. Well, so is World of Warcraft and I'm sure World Warcraft will also get an MTG set, which it should. [01:14:35] Speaker A: I mean as soon as that got announced, like there's no way you don't put in very specific World of Warcraft things. It's again, it's a full fantasy world. It just makes sense. Wait for the Elder scroll sets as well. And you know what I mean, we already got Fallout sets. Like come. Come on. [01:14:56] Speaker B: Absolutely, absolutely. It's just a no brainer. And. [01:15:00] Speaker A: And we still have the Monster Hunter sets but the art was trash, remember [01:15:04] Speaker B: it wasn't the art fix those. It was the fact that they didn't take the time to make actual mechanics that made sense for the game. They were just like, oh, let's put out these cards. Yeah. And not have it be Monster Hunter specific or just stupid. Like that's all about like Voltroning and fighting giant monsters and things like that. So honestly, if they're going to do this Kamigawa one with big monsters, I bet you that Monster Hunter is going to drop around the same time with that kind of like. Yeah, maybe same mechanics kind of would mix in with it. Yeah. So at least they're willing to admit when they're wrong for the most part. God of War Lofty got a release date of February 16th for the next year, 2027. And I am just gonna set my watch for when that drops. Very excited. [01:15:57] Speaker A: Yeah, this is, this is exciting. I'm glad there's a new God of War. You know, it's pretty, pretty cool that the way they announced it and the way that it's happening and pretty, pretty pumped. [01:16:10] Speaker B: Yeah. Now with this kind of lackluster release of the Steambox and how expensive it is and how it's not really that great of a graphic system, it makes me want to kind of be like, hey, maybe I do want to buy a PS5 Pro. Or when it's a PS6 prop, you know, it's really tough, man, because those PS5 Pro graphics are a step up, especially for newer games. So. And then last on our list, last on our list is the topic of debate which is Sony is ending physical releases. [01:16:50] Speaker A: So this is my God of War loafe won't be able to be on physical release. [01:16:55] Speaker B: I, I don't believe that. [01:16:56] Speaker A: I mean, no, they will, I think you get until like end of next year probably. [01:17:00] Speaker B: But I. You think they'll backtrack on this because they did put out a statistic that they sold a ton of physical releases over last year. [01:17:12] Speaker A: Interesting. Yeah, I, I don't know. I, the thing is that it's always been nice to buy them cheaply from game stop and give them to friends, you know what I mean? And find them bargain. And if you're going to get rid of it completely, it kind of screws things up in that market. [01:17:34] Speaker B: It does. Right? That is, that is a good point right there. I was one of the few people that made the mistake of not buying a system with a disk drive. And you know, it was something I had regretted since day one because a, I can't buy, I can't go and buy a physical game for much cheaper. I have to buy the digital version. It's just like I kind of screwed myself in that regard. And then I regarded regretted it completely. I mean even the PS5 I had bought was not one you could add a drive to. [01:18:05] Speaker A: Right. [01:18:06] Speaker B: It was the next model up after that and I was like such ps. Yeah, right. I was just so. I, I, I don't, I do not agree with this. In fact, my Switch 2, I love buying the things because I own it. Yeah, I own it and sometimes it actually helps run the system better. Is running off of disks. [01:18:27] Speaker A: I also agree with that statement to it. Yep, for sure. [01:18:31] Speaker B: That's it. That's all I got to say about it. So maybe they'll backtrack. They probably won't.
