[00:00:03] Speaker A: DFAT Entertainment. [00:00:15] Speaker B: Welcome to episode number 263 of the Towelite Talk podcast. This is Casey, and this is Chris. And we have been doing this 10 years. This is our 10th anniversary of this podcast. And just last week, March 7th was the official anniversary date. How does it feel to be 10 years? Podcasting. [00:00:41] Speaker A: Makes me feel elderly. No, not really. No. We've been doing this for 10 years. We've been doing DFAT for 12 years. And it's, it's been a blast. The experiences that we've got to have thanks to the website and leading into this podcast, which it's become its current version as of today. You know, 10 years later, 263 episodes. It's good times, my friend. It's dedication. Dedication. [00:01:12] Speaker B: That's it. It definitely feels good. It feels good to know there's been listeners who've been there since episode one, which is kind of crazy. So thanks everybody who does, you know, who stuck with us or if you're new, you got a lot of episodes you could catch up on. But we also talk a lot of current news, so it's okay if you don't. But there's also some good one off episodes. There's a lot. You can just go back, just go back and absorb every single one of them. We need the numbers. [00:01:42] Speaker A: That's right. Download the entire library. [00:01:45] Speaker B: That's it. So other than geeking out on every single episode of Towel like Talk, what have you been geeking out on, Chris? [00:01:53] Speaker A: I've been geeking out on a lot of GI Joe. We finished the original series and then we moved on to Renegades, which I told you reminds me of like GI Joe, the A Team, which is a really cool concept. Unfortunately, it's only a one season show. I felt, I feel like it could have been more and it would have been a lot of fun, but it was, it was good. I also downloaded, I bought that GI Joe Wrath of Cobra real cheap. That beat em up game. Yes, that's, that's fun too. It's not as cool as Shredder's Revenge, but it's, it's, it's a good time. It, you know, it's a classic retro arcade stuff and I'm just waiting for Assassin's Creed Shadows to come out next week. Very excited for that. [00:02:40] Speaker B: That's it. The ninja in you is ready to be unleashed. [00:02:44] Speaker A: That's right. Samurai. [00:02:46] Speaker B: Maybe. [00:02:46] Speaker A: I don't know. I'm not sure. [00:02:48] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, I guess. I don't know. Yeah. Who knows what they'll do in that game. It's Both. Okay. That's awesome, actually. All right. I want to go back to my Tenchu days. Some of the best games ever. [00:03:03] Speaker A: Yeah, I actually. I put that on my Steam deck. [00:03:07] Speaker B: Did you? Okay, nice. Yeah, I want to play those, so I'll geek out about that when that happens. Also, Yellowjackets started back up. Been watching that. My wife and I started watching this paradise show. It's on Hulu, and it's got James Marston, better known as Cyclops, and Sterling K. Brown are like, the stars. And this other lady who's really good. I don't know her name. Anyways, it's like kind of post apocalyptic and kind of like this political thriller. It's kind of. It's very interesting. It's very much like Lost. There's a lot of flashbacks, like, but it's. Whereas loss is like, I'm gonna not explain something to you, or I'll give you one thing and then I'll, you know, give you two more questions, you know, for that answer. This is very much like, no, the thing you were thinking is this. It's very on the nose. And. And now we're gonna give it to you. So it's kind of like very, like, rewarding as well. It's an interesting show. Interesting show. [00:04:23] Speaker A: So. [00:04:23] Speaker B: And Daredevil came back. So we'll talk about that. We'll talk about that. [00:04:28] Speaker A: Sure did. [00:04:30] Speaker B: And then, you know, big news last. Was it last week or is it two weeks ago? Was Toy Fair. [00:04:39] Speaker A: Yeah, it was end of February. [00:04:41] Speaker B: Yeah. So time is daily savings time, you know, so it's. [00:04:47] Speaker A: Well, it's relative. [00:04:48] Speaker B: That's it. So, yeah, we, you know, we were There, I think, 10 years ago at Toy Fair. [00:04:55] Speaker A: We were. Those photos keep popping up on my phone. [00:04:58] Speaker B: Yeah. So just, just crazy. 10 years anniversary for us in Toy Fair. Well, I guess we've been covering it longer, but just for the podcast, which is always fun to get those interviews. So. All right, we'll talk about that in the pursuit of plastic section. So first up, big Marvel News, Daredevil. It's back, but we're in again. Three episodes deep. I didn't watch the third episode yet, so don't spoil it. But general reactions. What are you feeling? [00:05:34] Speaker A: I can't really talk about last night's episode. I'll tell you this, though. I love, I love what they're doing. So far, it's, it's, it's a return to form. So far, they've, you know, in my opinion, they've kept their promises of, of getting back and Continuing the original. The original series. Last night's episode was. Was really, really good. It's just. It's one of those ones where you're just, like, sitting there in the credits, just like. Okay, good times. So I'm happy, you know, nine episodes. I believe they're an hour. Yeah. An hour each. It's just. It's great. And I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes. I love the storylines and I'm excited. So it's good. It's good. It's good. Return to form for Marvel. [00:06:27] Speaker B: It's. Yeah, it's. I mean, you know, it's too early to say this is the. My favorite show of the year because it's only two episodes, but it's like it's back. Like, they didn't. They only made it better. Like, they did more of it comic book y. And like that. Like, that's it. You know, he's really honing in with, like, all of the hearing that they didn't get as into. I feel like on the Netflix series, like, I feel like a lot of the fighting has been more comic booky. Using his sticks or whatever. I can't remember what they're called. Batons. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. It just feels amazing. So. And then going into this Punisher, he's getting his own special. This is wild. You know, John Bernthal is going to be writing it along with Ronaldo. Marcus Green, who's going to be directing and I guess 2026. Yeah, it's gonna happen. [00:07:28] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's. I don't know how, like, there's inklings in how the Punisher is going to return in this. You know, in Daredevil, you know, it's coming. I'm really happy that they. They went that, like, they're going back to the Punisher instead of shying away from the Punisher. He's an important character. He's a popular character, regardless of your views. And the way they're covering it is actually really smart, you know, with how, you know, society is right now and stuff like that. So this special, they've also said it's like this. Like, they're going all out for it. Like, this is. This is the Punisher and it's not going to be like Disney. [00:08:08] Speaker B: Daredevil hasn't. [00:08:10] Speaker A: Right, Right. [00:08:11] Speaker B: I mean, they've been throwing. [00:08:12] Speaker A: They. [00:08:12] Speaker B: I don't remember them saying as much on Netflix. I don't think they did. Violence was there, but, like, this is like, this show is wild. [00:08:25] Speaker A: Yeah. Excellent stuff. Yeah. And so the special is gonna be like, what, like the Werewolf by Night one? Kind of in that. In that light. [00:08:34] Speaker B: I guess. [00:08:35] Speaker A: That's what I think. So I feel like they should. [00:08:37] Speaker B: Or, I mean, more of these things. I don't even think it's that. I think it's gonna be, like, just a season, not be, like, a full series. I think it's still gonna be episodes, like the Obi Wan thing, which where it's just like, we're done. This is just a little vignette. [00:08:57] Speaker A: Maybe I. [00:08:58] Speaker B: Because it's saying. No, it says standalone special. Yeah. Maybe it's like, what was that Dirty Laundry or whatever it was with Thomas Jane. Yeah. Thomas Jane comes back. It's Punishers across the multiverse. [00:09:18] Speaker A: Oh, God. [00:09:20] Speaker B: Anyways, that's why I'm not writing this. Okay, So X Men 97. Season 2 is projected for 2026. Why? That's so stupid. I do not get that. And that makes me mad. Other than I think, you know, we always say things can get better with more time, but God damn it, I don't know. [00:09:43] Speaker A: I, I. Whatever. Season one was great. Season two will be good. Maybe they're just trying to push it out longer so they get close to Secret wars and X Men showing up. I don't know. [00:09:53] Speaker B: I don't know. All right, Matthew Lillard showing up in Daredevil season two. Okay. Matthew lives on a kick right now. He's, like, back. Like, legit back. You know, we talked about last episode, Scream 7. He was in some new horror movie recently. Like, he's just been getting straight up acting roles. He's been doing a great job. [00:10:18] Speaker A: So, Yeah, I mean, he's a great actor. So we need more of Matthew. [00:10:23] Speaker B: Yeah, that's it. And then finally, Sadie Sink has been cast in Spider Man 4. So listen, it's on all of the trades. It must be official. It is. So let's. Let's see what that means. Who is she to him in this world? Who? I mean, his old friends aren't gone, you know? Like, what is this? I don't know. [00:10:51] Speaker A: They just. I know. They. They forget that he's Spider Man. Right. That's the point. They don't. Or. [00:10:59] Speaker B: No, I don't think they know. No, they, like, don't know him at all. [00:11:03] Speaker A: So Peter Parker is erased. [00:11:04] Speaker B: Peter. [00:11:05] Speaker A: Peter Parker and Spider Man. Or Peter Parker is a race from everybody's memory. Yeah, that's how it was. Yeah. The mention of Spider man and Daredevil was awesome. And I just, I'm just worried they're gonna Be like, hey, let's put Spider man back up. And he's gonna be the new Iron man and just bigger role from. But I want to see Spider man street level. [00:11:28] Speaker B: I think this is like his born again. Honestly, I feel like she. [00:11:33] Speaker A: Black Cat, you know? [00:11:34] Speaker B: Well, because he put him. Maybe. Actually, she put they. She put him back in that. That Ditko suit, so, you know, it's going back to his roots. All right, so jump across the pond. We got our first look at lanterns for the DC DC world. Whatever. A couple dudes walking down the street look like they've seen some shit. What do you think about this? [00:12:02] Speaker A: I'm ready for it. Whatever. We got kind of a look at the ring on. On Hale on Kyle Chandler's finger. But, yeah, I mean, it's. Hey, look, it's true detective. With lanterns giving me the true detective vibes. [00:12:17] Speaker B: That's it. [00:12:21] Speaker A: It's real. But it's about space cops. So real. [00:12:23] Speaker B: Hey, as long as we see those space cops doing spacecraft stuff, it's all that matters. And then Nicole Ari Parker has joined Lanterns, and I don't know who she's gotten cast at. I think she's John Stewart's mom. Yeah. Sorry. [00:12:44] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, she's. What? She's not that old, so I think we could probably see some flashbacks here. I imagine she doesn't really. She's not that old of an actress. Right. Comparatively to the guy who plays Jon Stewart or what? What do you think? [00:13:02] Speaker B: It's hard because, like, black don't crack and, like, she could be 60, for sure, you know, and this. And I know Aaron Piera is pretty young. I think he's like 30. So maybe, I don't know. [00:13:18] Speaker A: Stop speculating. [00:13:19] Speaker B: We're done speculating. We're just gonna watch the show. Okay. [00:13:22] Speaker A: That's right. [00:13:22] Speaker B: Moving on. Moving on. So we're gonna have the. The. My Adventures of Superman producer confirms there's going to be a new Green Lantern show in the same timeline. So that's awesome. They are expanding that universe, which it's working on its third season, the adventure Superman. So this is my adventures with Green Lantern. Sweet. [00:13:53] Speaker A: Yeah. And then also they announced, including that there's three animated series, which includes Starfire, and also superpowers. And so this whole approach to how they're treating the DC universe or whatever you're going to call the DC Films, DC Studios. This is great. I mean, there's just. Let's go tell stories. Let's introduce the characters. Like we saw a bunch of characters in. In Creature Commandos when they did that, that flash forward or whatever. So we know it's. It's a well established universe and they just really need to make their mark with Superman and get it going. So. [00:14:32] Speaker B: So they're doing this. This is great. So they're doing it all for, like, they're all teenagers. That's great. That's a smart idea. Whole universe. All right. The Wonder Woman game that supposedly was in the works got shut down. [00:14:52] Speaker A: Yeah. It's disappointing, honestly. [00:14:55] Speaker B: Was that rockstar? [00:14:57] Speaker A: I think so. I think it was in that universe. It's just real. [00:15:02] Speaker B: Not rock star rock. [00:15:03] Speaker A: Rocksteady. [00:15:04] Speaker B: Right? [00:15:06] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't know. I just. I feel really let down by this kind of news. I'm sure it's like, because it was in production before all of this stuff, like. But it just. It's such a bad show. It's like, why don't. Why can't you make a Wonder Woman game? I can't. Like, it's just. I don't know. [00:15:23] Speaker B: Yeah, Yeah. I just think wb. I don't know. Maybe this is for the good. Maybe they saw what happened with Suicide Squad and they were like. They saw the writing on the wall. I don't know. [00:15:37] Speaker A: There was nothing wrong with that game besides their end game bullshit. Like, that game's great. It's fun until you have to repetitive. Repetitively play it. So that's what, you know, this is the problem where people talk about things and they don't play it. And then it gets such bad reviews because it gets. Everything gets review bombed. It sucks. You know, and then we don't get. We don't get nice things. [00:16:00] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:16:03] Speaker A: Because I'm sure I shit on it in this show and never played it until recently. [00:16:09] Speaker B: Quite possibly, if someone wants to rewind the tapes, we could find out. [00:16:14] Speaker A: That's right. Go into those archives. [00:16:17] Speaker B: Finally, in D.C. news, Batman Revolution. This is gonna be a new book that takes place after. Or no. So between Batman 89 and Batman Returns. So Michael Keaton's coming back. [00:16:35] Speaker A: Yeah, they keep developing this world. They did another novel. They've done a couple comic series and whatever, you know, it's. It's a great world that needs to continue to be fleshed out. You know, we got Batman Forever and Batman Robin. Unfortunately, after Tim Burton left, we never got to see his Batman 3. So, you know, whatever. [00:17:05] Speaker B: This is it. This is the Batman 3, right? Yeah. That's cool. That's a cool thing. All right, so let's get over to Galaxy Far Far Away with Star Wars News. Kathleen Kennedy is Said to retire at the end of this year. What do you think? [00:17:27] Speaker A: I don't know, man. Because I don't want to be like, I don't want to be a jerk about it. At the same time, I'm just like, what did. What did they really accomplish besides like a few things? I just don't. I don't feel like they. I feel like now it's starting to take off. I feel like now they have a better idea of what to do. And it's same thing for Marvel. But Marvel had such a great start, you know, I don't know. I just feel like somebody like Filoni could run it better than she could. You need somebody who's going to like, give it real direction instead of sitting on top of it. Like, Like a. Just like a general Hollywood producer or whatever. I don't know. I just. For me, there's been highlights over the last, you know, since 2014, of course, but overall I give it a C. You know, I give Star Wars a C. And I just feel like they could have done a lot more and I think that she, you know, I don't think she was a really good leader in a lot of it. So whatever. Moving on. [00:18:34] Speaker B: Yeah, I, I agree. Like, I think it's a big ship to try to sail. I think that they approached it in a pretty sloppy way with a lot of weird decisions, like, let's introduce the High Republic as books or the. Right. Yeah, like, okay, nobody cares now. You don't have anyone invested and now who knows if you'll go back to that time period. So anyways, we're not looking backwards, we're looking forwards as Shawn Levi's new movie is set to star Ryan Gosling in his new Star wars standalone movie which will take take place post Rise of Skywalker. [00:19:23] Speaker A: Yes, A new, new trilogy within like the whole. I guess the. It's not the Skywalker saga, but the Skywalker. Like it's weird to me. Right. So you're gonna have a new number trilogy instead of just whatever. I didn't. Wasn't sure what to think about Jude Law when he joined Star wars and then I loved it. So Ryan Gosling's even a better actor and it's just like I really want to see what this is about. But does it doesn't have to be 10 to 12. Like I feel like they're just still grasping at straws and trying to like, they're just trying to like set the, like set sail again with the same ideas, but whatever, then get it on track. Well, let's see what happens. I'll go see Mando and Grogu in theaters. So any Star wars movie, you know, that's. [00:20:19] Speaker B: Any Star Wars. That's it. So let's jump over to the other side of the galaxy. Star Trek Con prequel cast its lost star in the title role. So Naveen Andrews will be Khan. I love Naveen Andrews. That guy, he's great. So always like playing a pretty, like, I don't know, sometimes he's sinister, sometimes he's a nice guy, but always just a great actor. [00:20:55] Speaker A: Yeah, it's like a really, like playing Con is a really good fit for him, I think. We've been talking about this podcast for a while. I'm really excited for it to come out. So. [00:21:06] Speaker B: So that's good. So, okay, we got some news on it. It just doesn't say the date yet, but we'll keep you guys posted once hear more about it. And then season four of Strange New Worlds, the production has finally begun. So we should probably expect that next year, right? [00:21:26] Speaker A: I would. Yeah, probably Season three comes out soon. Really looking forward to that. It's a great show. I'm really happy to hear that they've. That they're moving forward with another season. So maybe, maybe they'll try to spread it out more. Who knows? [00:21:43] Speaker B: And who knows what side, you know, shows we'll get from that show. [00:21:49] Speaker A: Right. [00:21:50] Speaker B: And just keep, keep it going. You know what I mean? So. All right. So, Chris, what time is it? [00:21:57] Speaker A: It's time for the Pursuit of Plastic. [00:22:00] Speaker B: So we talked about Toy Fair and you know, the biggest toy event, I would say, of the year. We've got a lot of, lot of, lot of good stuff. I mean, you combine some of the comic Cons, you do get some releases, but Toy Fair is like, that's it. It's. [00:22:18] Speaker A: We know. We've lived and breathed it. [00:22:21] Speaker B: Yes. [00:22:21] Speaker A: The show is the show. [00:22:24] Speaker B: So, you know, you've got some stuff. I'm gonna have you run through these because you are far more intelligent on most of them. [00:22:32] Speaker A: I wouldn't say intelligent. [00:22:35] Speaker B: Educated, sure. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Being, you know, big fans of 80s toys. Mask is back and the loyal subjects is tackling the. The new series. And so they revealed the, you know, the upcoming releases and there's four of them. And it's great because we got Matt Tracker and all of your favorites back again. I remember like the flying car, that semi. Like seeing this stuff again really reminds me of like, of playing with these toys. That's it. [00:23:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:23:13] Speaker A: And to be like, hey, oh shit. I do Remember this time when I went over to my friend's house and we play with all of this and it's great. And we're getting the updated versions and it's going to be hard not to get at least one of these, like, tracker in that car. So, yeah, it's great to see more and more of these retro properties coming back from the 80s. [00:23:36] Speaker B: I know. I love it. The only thing I'll say, the price tag was, like, pretty high. [00:23:44] Speaker A: It is. But I'm like, when I consider, like, a smaller company, like loyal subjects, doing this right. And it's going to be more of an indie company. You have these rising prices from China. China, due to this tariff. And I've been purchasing these GI Joe Transformer collaborations, and they're like anywhere from 65 to $100 each, and you're getting two figures and transforming vehicle. So, I mean, the price point, honestly, is accurate to what you're getting, especially these days. And they're also getting on the understand nostalgia. So. [00:24:22] Speaker B: Yeah. And they added some extra articulation. I mean, they. They look amazing. They really do. All right, what's next? [00:24:29] Speaker A: Well, Mattel is regaining the dc. Sorry, I'm like, ground blank. The. The DC rights to make toys for dc, especially with the new DC universe coming up and the Superman dropping. But what I've heard, like, McFarlane has been doing a great job. I think he's done an amazing job. Like, I'm like, Mattel did some good stuff, like with the Four Horsemen and their DC universe classics and a lot of really cool stuff. It's just weird to, like, have them regain it. But I also heard that McFarlane is still in, like, negotiations to continue making figures for dc. So we might. We might be getting the best of both worlds. So we'll. We'll see what happens. But this was a. This was big news. [00:25:18] Speaker B: Yeah. It's just we've. I don't know. I. I haven't heard anyone complain about McFarlane. You know, maybe some of. Not much. I don't even know. He's just been putting out so much that it's hard to complain because he's got something for everybody. And now there's statues and everything else. It's like, it's price points. All price points. You can't really say anything. [00:25:44] Speaker A: No, you can't. I think that. But the biggest problem here is, like, if you. If you do a hard stop, it's automatically stopping collectors again. Yeah. Finishing teams. He's been doing this new Superpowers line, like. Yeah. What happened? Like, what happens when. This is the frustrating part about collecting is when you can't finish. And that was the same thing with Mattel. So we'll see. We'll see what happens. It could be the best of both worlds, like I said. Speaking of McFarlane, though, he did pick up two really cool things. He's going to be doing Ninja Turtle page punchers at the 5 inch scale based on the IDW comics. So those. That's great. And it's another scale, you know, to collect, but you're also getting, you're going to be getting figures from that. Really. I mean, it's such a long, long run of comics and some really cool stuff, so. And also he's going to be doing a line called mk Mortal Kombat Classics and Classic Spell with a K, of course. So he wants him, you know, going back to the original figures, doing them up Farland style. Beat it. [00:26:57] Speaker B: I just, I also just saw he's. He's doing Berserker. [00:27:02] Speaker A: Yes. [00:27:03] Speaker B: It's. So that's going out from Boom as a Walmart Collector con exclusive for 50 bucks. [00:27:12] Speaker A: Yeah, that's coming up. Walmart collector 13th. Yeah. Yep, that'll be. That's right. It's right around the corner. So tomorrow as we're recording this podcast. So yeah, there's, there's that. And with Berserk, we're talking about Berserker in short, you know, so there's, there's gonna be a lot of high demand for that. I'm kind of. I'm sure we'll get another version of it. It just won't be this collector version of it. [00:27:36] Speaker B: Right. [00:27:36] Speaker A: Once it sells out, you know, so very. [00:27:39] Speaker B: That's wild. [00:27:45] Speaker A: Hasbro teased something from the Energon universe which I've been waiting for. Yes. So they showed Jetfire and the two characters from Void Rivals, which. [00:27:56] Speaker B: Yes. [00:27:57] Speaker A: That right now is rumored to only be an SDCC exclusive. Hopefully, you know, it gets a wider release and we get more Energon figures because both of the Void Rivals, there's anything from the Energon universe I'd love to get, but I do want those Void Rivals and they're. They're with O Ring. They're like, with which, you know, Super 7 has been doing now with the super. The reaction. Plus these collaborative figures that I talked about earlier all have O Rings. So they're, you know, they're getting away from that five poa. And they're, they're doing this great stuff. And that scene with Jetfire is like what really launched the whole thing that this is a crossover that Void rivals. Yeah, that's it. So I hope, I hope I can get my hands on that. [00:28:40] Speaker B: Yeah. This. I have nothing else to add. Yes, I want that. [00:28:48] Speaker A: During my, my, my long watching of GI Joe, the original series, there was a, there's an episode where there's like this cobra rock band called, called Slither in the Knox are dressed up as like 80s rockers. And so of course it's funny because the newest wave of reaction plus is doing Zartan as in that costume. And then Hasbro's doing a four pack with all of them with their instruments and all that cool stuff. So this is also going to be a San Diego Comic Con exclusive. But this is in classified series scale of 6 inches. [00:29:32] Speaker B: Those are fun. I'm just like, yeah, those are funny. [00:29:36] Speaker A: It's a really catchy song too. It's good times. And then last up, there's a lot of other news, but we can't get to all of it. But this is this Lego Shire set. You know, after the Rivendale set and the, the tower, I can't even pronounce what it is, but this is the next epic Lord of the Rings set with more minifigures that you can. Then you can count and it's the Shire. So that's it. Looks great. It's gonna be expensive and I'll never own it. [00:30:14] Speaker B: There you go. Yeah. I mean, this is wild. Oh, gosh. Yeah. If someone says it could be better. If it's not saying, I'm not getting it. [00:30:30] Speaker A: This is always two handed comments. [00:30:32] Speaker B: Yeah, that's always. [00:30:33] Speaker A: I hate it. [00:30:35] Speaker B: Exactly. All right, well, with that we will cut to a commercial break and we will be right back. [00:30:48] Speaker C: D FAT Comics is the publishing branch of Don't Forget a Towel. The only place to travel geekly. Great sculpting. And look at the paint job on her. [00:31:24] Speaker B: We've been looking all over for this one. [00:31:26] Speaker A: Let's get him enough sights and end this hunt now. [00:31:30] Speaker B: All right, all right. [00:31:32] Speaker A: Steady, steady now. [00:31:35] Speaker B: Got him. [00:31:37] Speaker A: It's the pursuit of plastic. [00:31:39] Speaker B: Listen to the podcast from the creators of Don't Forget to Tell.com Geek out about about toy news, hunting and Histories on your favorite collectibles. So as you're hitchhiking your way through the universe, don't forget to travel safe and don't forget a towel. [00:32:18] Speaker B: We are back after those delicious commercials and we're going to some comic book, book, book news. First up is John Carpenter is back to the comic book world with Tales of Science Fiction. And this is Pause is the latest comic book that's produced by him. So this could be a six part limited series which publishes through Storm King Comic. This is cool. [00:32:48] Speaker A: Yeah, no, absolutely. Written by Matthew Banning with art by Connor Boyle. You know what? I love indie comics and I'll support anything John Carpenter. So yeah, I'll check this out. [00:33:02] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. Kevin Smith is also returning to comics and this time he's going to be writing Archie meets Jay in Silent Bob. Now Archie has had many collaborations throughout the years and some of them can be just completely risque. So I'm kind of curious, would they let him do the Clerks cover with the Archie characters? So, like the clerk's poster. So let's see how far they go on this. [00:33:37] Speaker A: Yeah, no, absolutely. I mean, there's even. We can already see a buddy Jesus down here. Oh, yeah. [00:33:42] Speaker B: Okay. [00:33:43] Speaker A: Like all this great stuff. So, yeah, this is great. And I'm. I'm really excited. I'll read this. [00:33:51] Speaker B: Yeah, it'll be fun. IDW is doing a new part of the Godzilla universe with the Kaisei era. So they will be putting that out later this year, which is. That's pretty awesome. [00:34:07] Speaker A: It is. We got three, three comics coming from this and they all sound really cool. So we have basically, it's a Godzilla main title. Then there's Godzilla Escape the Dead Zone, which is like this human Kaiju hybrid. It's about that. And then Starship Godzilla, which is a space adventure where they're floating around in Mechagodzilla like a ship made of Mechagodzilla. All three of these. It kicks off in July. One is actually by Tim Seeley as well. So, I mean, these all sound great. And it's just to launch this new kind of like storytelling era is a really good idea with how popular Godzilla is. And at first I was like, oh, yeah, I'll check out one. But then I read every one. I was like, man, these sound great. They sound really cool. [00:35:00] Speaker B: So they're all in the same world. [00:35:04] Speaker A: Yes. [00:35:04] Speaker B: The way that Energon is. [00:35:06] Speaker A: Yep. [00:35:08] Speaker B: What? Okay, well, this is insanity. [00:35:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:35:13] Speaker B: I mean, it's crazy that every publisher has a Godzilla title right now. [00:35:17] Speaker A: It is, but IDW is, like, really killing it with it because, like, Marvel has their own stuff going on. But right now, like, I read that Godzilla heist is really good, and I really was kind of mad at myself that I didn't. I didn't pre order it before it sold out. But I'll get that. I'll get that trade or whatever. But also, Godzilla versus America. I've heard it. Like, we talked about that one. That's going to be, you know, benefiting the fires of LA when the. Yeah, it goes la, but the Godzilla Goes to Chicago one got really good reviews. So that actually just shipped for me today, so I'll be reading that soon. [00:35:50] Speaker B: That is awesome. [00:35:51] Speaker A: Yep. [00:35:51] Speaker B: Okay. Godzilla. And speaking of, at least Monsterverse, they're getting to expand a bit more with Return to Skull Island. This is going to be a comic book from Titan and Legendary, so that's, you know, set in the world of the Skull island animated series, which was on Netflix. [00:36:14] Speaker A: Did you watch that? [00:36:15] Speaker B: I did watch. I didn't watch all of it. I watched a couple episodes and it was good. So I should return to Skull Island. [00:36:24] Speaker A: Yeah. We loved it. We were actually kind of upset that it never came back because it's, like, it's. It's violent and it's, like, mature. Like. Like Skull island is. [00:36:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:36] Speaker A: So, yeah, I'm really excited that they're going to be continuing this story. [00:36:39] Speaker B: Yeah, me too. I just. I love the monsterverse. Like. [00:36:42] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:36:43] Speaker B: You know, we're seeing both sides of Godzilla, and it's just amazing. Both sides, though, they're really more Kong focused. I mean, that last movie really doesn't have much. [00:36:54] Speaker A: God. [00:36:54] Speaker B: So. [00:36:55] Speaker A: No, but they needed to because they. They've been doing so many Godzilla things right. So it's. [00:36:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:00] Speaker A: Kind of Godzilla heavy, too. [00:37:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I. I'm fine with it. [00:37:04] Speaker A: And I love that movie. I love Kong. You know, Skull Island. Skull island might be my favorite movie out of all of them. You know, it's like just a great way to, like, open that whole universe up. So. [00:37:14] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, you're right. So speaking of Open Universe is up. John Carpenter is back on the road, and he's got a rare New York City show, which is where we saw him 10. When did we see him? 10 years ago. [00:37:32] Speaker A: Like, 10 years ago. [00:37:33] Speaker B: 10 years ago. So a lot of anniversaries Here. So John Carpenter, one of the best directors and musicians. Like I listen to his guys albums all the time. So yeah, he's on the road. [00:37:48] Speaker A: Yeah, his other tour, like he's going on tour elsewhere but like this New York City shows like a special one. Right. Tickets are up I think. So if you want to go see it, go get them. [00:37:57] Speaker B: That's it. That's it. And then also in kind of audio news, Doug Bradley and Michael Berman and a hell of a lot of other like just random B C lister, like horror people are doing a podcast called the Temple of Killer Tiger Monkeys podcast. It's a, I think it's a 26 part saga and it's streaming and there's like a trailer that's. It's a whole thing. This one surprised me when you put this on here. [00:38:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I thought you'd like that. [00:38:42] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh man. So that's, that's if you're a horror fan, you know those guys are all iconic. So check it out. All right, so over on TV news we got our clip of Alien Earth and then it immediately got taken down. So did you see it? I didn't get to see it. [00:39:06] Speaker A: I did, I did get to see it. I mean it just only gets more exciting. And also, I mean they're doing stuff for south by Southwest right. Right now or is that what's going on? Yeah, so we're going to see stuff sooner than later. This show is due out this summer or something like that, I believe. So I'm, I'm excited. I. Whatever, man. Bring me more alien verse. [00:39:31] Speaker B: Yeah, that's, that's just it. And Noah Hawley, like, it's, it's gonna be good. And then finally we're gonna be getting a new Viking drama called Bloodaxe that's coming to Amazon. Hey, let's, let's get more Vikings. People did many, many seasons there was. He did 89 episodes of the History Channel One. So get right back into it. [00:40:01] Speaker A: Yeah, I never, I never watched, I think I watched an episode of Valhalla. So I never got into that yet. I need a, I need to do that. I love, I love Vikings. It was such a good show. [00:40:12] Speaker B: Yeah, everyone says they're great. So hey, clearly he's got more material. [00:40:20] Speaker A: Vikings are centuries of stories. [00:40:22] Speaker B: So that's it. That's it. Going over to movie news. Shrek's back after, I don't know, 20 years or something. He's. He's back and his daughter in the movie is Zendaya. So that's something. [00:40:40] Speaker A: Sure is Casey. Sure. Something. No, I love Shrek. I do, too. It's time. I mean, why not Mike Myers come back, Right? So. [00:40:52] Speaker B: Yeah, let's see. [00:40:53] Speaker A: What's he doing? [00:40:55] Speaker B: Right? Yeah, that's it. [00:40:58] Speaker A: Pitching Shrek for the last 10 years. [00:41:00] Speaker B: That's right. Now, we've been hearing, actually about this for a little while that Hasbro wants their own verse of games based off of their games. And apparently John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein, who did Dungeons and Dragons, I believe they did all those Spider Man Homecoming and stuff, too. So they're gonna write the Monopoly movie, which, you know, I. I don't know how you don't do it without it being kind of like Jumanji, you know? But what do I know A lot, Casey. [00:41:42] Speaker A: You know a lot. And, you know, the signs. Sounds kind of stupid at the same time. Just. I mean, we can be nice about it, but where's Risk? The movie? Hours of Warfare? We already got Battleship. [00:42:00] Speaker B: We did get Paddled, actually. Bell Shift wasn't that bad. [00:42:03] Speaker A: Right, Right. [00:42:04] Speaker B: That wasn't that bad. [00:42:07] Speaker A: I mean, Monopoly could be the story of America right now. I mean, it's just like, you know. [00:42:11] Speaker B: I don't know what they're gonna do with this plot, but we will keep you posted. And do not go. Do not pass go. Right. Speaking of Berserker, Justin Lynn is set to direct Keanu Reeves in Berserker for Netflix. You know, why wouldn't he be in it since he co created the comic and it looks exactly like him, and people are in a Berserker rage fest right now. So let's get this going while the iron's hot. [00:42:43] Speaker A: Yeah. This has been a long time coming, and now it's big news, so bring it on. [00:42:51] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, that's it. You know, we'll watch it. They did a great job with the old guard. [00:42:57] Speaker A: They. [00:42:57] Speaker B: They do good stuff with their comic book adaptations, I think. [00:43:01] Speaker A: For sure. [00:43:02] Speaker B: So. All right, and let's go over to gaming Nooms. Acclaim is back. I remember doing an article for DFAT about, like, how there was. Maybe I read it. I don't know. Anyways, how they used to do, like, THQ and all these places would do these, like, based off of IP video games, and they, like, just went away and, like, so Acclaim was one of them. And apparently they're coming back. I don't know. No new games were announced, but they just said they're back. [00:43:42] Speaker A: Whatever. I mean, this is. This is kind of the thing where everything kind of got a video game back in the day. And we had this. Yes. Lull of like they made some video game movies. Like video games based on comic book movies here and there. But you could easily do side scrolling beat em ups, all of this stuff instead of doing these AAA games. There's a, there's a, there's a want for that and there's a freaking market for it. So stop trying to not reinvent the wheel and reinvent the wheel and just, and just give us like oh this, this alien earth show. Okay, well we're going to do an alien side scrolling video game or something like that. I don't know. Like there's a lot of, there's a lot of market out there that they could just pump out a game that doesn't take 10 years to make. So. [00:44:34] Speaker B: No, I, I agree. No, no, I agree. I, I was just gonna say like. So I didn't write it down but Tony Hawk Pro Skater announced three and four remastered. Wasn't that a claim at that time? I feel like I don't remember. [00:44:52] Speaker A: I think you're right. [00:44:53] Speaker B: I think it was so. It's just interesting. Maybe that's their first game. Anyways, moving on, the team behind Shredder's Revenge and Streets of Rage 4 is making this fantasy beat em up called Absalom. It looks just cool. I don't know, you know, like it looks like a really fun kind of. I, I don't know how best to describe it. It's like Jotun graphics kind of like those cartoon. You know what I mean? Like it looks like an 80s like cartoon come to life. [00:45:30] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:45:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Looks awesome. [00:45:32] Speaker A: And that's. This is. These are the games that you and I will buy because they look fun and they look, they don't have to be dragged down. Like if, if I can play my Steam deck and it's a new game, I'm happy, you know, I mean it's just. Those are the options. I don't need to always have my PS5 on or think about getting the next gen console in order to play a fun video game. But more and more we've proven that these indie games are just more and more beautiful because you're making 16 bit games that have these amazing backgrounds and more intricacies and all that stuff. So same narrative as a claim coming back. See more of this stuff. [00:46:15] Speaker B: That's it. Speaking of what is old is new again. Command and Conquer source code has been recovered from EA and what that means is you can now mod Command and Conquer titles. So they've opened up at the Steam Workshop. You can Start adding the mods to that. I did not read this news previous to this sentence being said out of my mouth. And I am so excited right now. Like, that's wild. [00:46:43] Speaker A: It is. [00:46:44] Speaker B: I love Community and Conquer games. [00:46:46] Speaker A: Did you. Did you buy that pack when I sent. When I shared it with you? When they were super cheap. They still probably are super cheap. Maybe they might have. I might have. So that's it. I mean, it's on my Steam deck and I can mod it and I can play. Like, who knows what they do with it. I know it's open source now, so it's amazing. Like just kind of running through the graphics. [00:47:08] Speaker B: Like people could do wild stuff. [00:47:10] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Here's looking forward to that. [00:47:15] Speaker B: Exactly. You were talking about getting ready for Assassin's Creed Shadows and they've released a bunch of little shorts for it. Like 35 second little anime clips. But they're pretty rad and show off, you know, characters or scenes probably from the video game. It looks pretty awesome. [00:47:34] Speaker A: Yeah, it only gets me more excited for this game. [00:47:38] Speaker B: Yeah, it's on Crunchyroll, so that's pretty awesome too. Magic. The gathering just continues to get more and more ridiculous by staying completely away from fantasy. And now they've released two more just obscene entries to their lineup with SpongeBob SquarePants and Spider Man. One of which I spent all my money on and one I don't care about. [00:48:09] Speaker A: Yeah, it's funny. Like spongebob was never in my zeitgeist. Yeah, that's really like so many people love spongebob. I'm just like, okay, cool. Enjoy. Yeah, I mean, but I guess the biggest thing is Spider Man. I actually did order one thing from it. I ordered that scene set because it's just like throwback to those trading card days of ours. Putting the scene together. I thought that was a really cool idea. So that's the one thing I'm ordering from the Marvel thing. Everything else can go to hell for like here. [00:48:45] Speaker B: Yeah, I definitely bought all the things. [00:48:50] Speaker A: No, real quick though. Also there's. There's more up there. There was a reveal that there are some Marvel secret layers coming up as well. So more, more Marvel, more Marvel. [00:49:03] Speaker B: Speaking more. More about magic. And now D and D. Their next crossover is going to be set in Larowyn Shadowmoore. So this will be a new crossover book that explores this new plane. It doesn't contain any humans in this plane, just creatures like elves and giants and of course little furry. So this is cool. This is. This is a. I like this. A lot. You know, I think it fits perfectly into both of their realms, and I think it's a really cool idea. [00:49:39] Speaker A: Yeah. What was the other ones like? Strixhaven. [00:49:43] Speaker B: Lauren has existed before, and. [00:49:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:49:46] Speaker B: So it's just this mix. [00:49:48] Speaker A: I think there's like two. Two other source books from before, so. Very cool. Yeah. See more of it. Like Thunder Junction. [00:50:00] Speaker B: That's right. Thunder Junction. Speaking of crossovers you never thought would ever exist with fantasy, Mr. Potato Head and a beholder for the new DND Mr. Be Tato Head mini sprouts up. I don't know why this exists, but it does. It's cute. It's going to be available on the Wizkids website. Actually, you can pre order it now. So we'll leave a link in there for that. [00:50:26] Speaker A: So that's what I'm like. It's a mini, but it still has the Mr. Potato Head. [00:50:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:50:32] Speaker A: Features. That's really cool. Really goofy. Really goofy. [00:50:36] Speaker B: It's very goofy. You're correct. And then finally, in Dungeons and Dragons news, you thought that there was more. There is. Wizards of the coast announced that their mysterious Project Sigil, which is now going to be their fully immersive 3D tabletop, which will be integrated with D and D beyond. This is something that they have been working on for a really long time. It's been beefed up with the Unreal Engine 5 graphics. And so for a price, you can use it. [00:51:17] Speaker A: Yeah, this is great stuff. They did a little test with some of the Baldur's Gate miniatures on there as well. So. Yeah, I don't know, man. Kind of makes me want to play some D and D on the 3D virtual tabletop. [00:51:35] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree. You know, D and D never gets old to me. Like, no matter what, it's still like a fun adventure. And this is a great way to still interact with you and your friends, but you have cool avatars to go along with it. So that is the end of this episode. Chris. Where can they find us? [00:51:56] Speaker A: We are all over the interwebs at a little website called don'tforgetotel.com also DFAT Entertainment, where you can find various other podcasts from. From yesteryear. And go look at that DFAT archive that we've been talking about as well. And then also on the socials at Facebook and Blue Sky. [00:52:19] Speaker B: That is right. And this is Casey saying, go read your comics. [00:52:24] Speaker A: And this is Chris saying, don't forget a towel.
