Episode Transcript
[00:00:03] Speaker A: DFAT Entertainment.
[00:00:16] Speaker B: Welcome to a brand new episode of Towelite Talk.
[00:00:20] Speaker A: This is Casey and this is Chris.
[00:00:23] Speaker B: Episode 269, my friend.
[00:00:27] Speaker A: That's a lot.
[00:00:28] Speaker B: It's a lot of. Is a lot.
[00:00:29] Speaker A: That's a lot of podcasting.
[00:00:31] Speaker B: It's a lot podcasting.
You are correct. So let's get to podcasting because it's been a while and we got some news to go into. So first off, as we tend to do. What are we geeking out on?
[00:00:46] Speaker A: What have I been geeking out on?
I've been. I just finished my two latest TV shows this week, so I just finished watching Peacemaker Season 2, which is awesome.
It's a true Superman sequel.
Inappropriate for all ages completely and definitely leads to what's coming next in the. In the dcu.
So please go watch Peacemaker season two, because it's better than season one.
[00:01:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:01:23] Speaker A: And go finish Alien, because Alien Earth is my favorite TV show of the year, and I don't have any bias towards aliens, so it's probably one of my favorite TV shows I've watched a long time, and it really is. I. I'm really confused on how they had a panel at New York Comic Con and still haven't announced season two.
I've heard it was funny because I think they just read a letter by Ridley Scott which praises it, completely praises it as one of the. As an amazing, like, continuation and everything of that universe, which really Scott hardly ever does, you know, since he's a negative Nancy most of the time.
And there's a lot of talk with Sigourney Weaver since she was at NYCC about future involvement in an Alien franchise somehow. And then the people from Alien Earth were like, let's br.
[00:02:19] Speaker B: No more questions.
[00:02:20] Speaker A: Yeah. No. They're like, yeah, it be great. But I'm like, no, let's. Let's not do that.
Ripley. I don't know how. Where that would fit.
[00:02:29] Speaker B: Ripley. RIP even.
[00:02:31] Speaker A: I mean, that one fitting with Alien Earth. Anyways, so.
Yeah. And then what else? I've been playing Final Fantasy Tactics, which is an amazing remake of the game, and I've spent way too much time playing that lately.
[00:02:44] Speaker B: So, you know, I. I need to get into it. I was looking up Vagrant Story, and I didn't realize that Tactics and that take place in the same world. And I've been wanting to replay Vagrant Story because it's one of the most unique games ever made, and it just disappeared. There's one.
[00:03:01] Speaker A: It's funny. So does Final Fantasy 12 takes place in that same world.
[00:03:05] Speaker B: Oh, Maybe that's what it was. Maybe it's. Sorry. Maybe it's those two. That takes place in the same world.
[00:03:11] Speaker A: Your favorite story does. It's awesome.
[00:03:13] Speaker B: Yes. It. It's. I can't remember what the name of the world is. You know better than I do. But, yeah, it takes place in Evely.
[00:03:18] Speaker A: Evil.
[00:03:19] Speaker B: Evil. Then I think it's tactics as well.
Look it up anyway.
[00:03:24] Speaker A: So you look it up. You look it up.
[00:03:26] Speaker B: New York City Comic Con. Oh, what am I geeking out on before we get into that, man. Alien Earth. I did start rewatching, which.
[00:03:35] Speaker A: You're rewatching it already.
[00:03:37] Speaker B: I'm re watching again now. We're on episode six, so I'm excellent.
[00:03:42] Speaker A: Coming.
[00:03:43] Speaker B: Coming in hot.
I watched all of Marvel Zombies. It was one of the best anime not animes I've seen all year.
I loved it. It's so freaking good, man.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: It is.
[00:03:55] Speaker B: So. I agree. Yeah. Really excited. All right, so New York City Comic Con, we're going to just kind of pepper things throughout. You know, Chris and I used to go every year, and it was our.
[00:04:05] Speaker A: Greatest, greatest time of year. That's right.
[00:04:08] Speaker B: Well. Well, actually Toy Fair is better, but, you know, it's still.
[00:04:12] Speaker A: Still different.
[00:04:14] Speaker B: We still enjoyed it, but yeah, this year, you know, we're gonna hit on a bunch of stuff that's dropped. Is there any highlights, though? Anything stand out to you, Chris, that you were like, holy, holy, holy cow.
[00:04:28] Speaker A: Yes. The highlight is that there wasn't a lot of that coming.
There's not like.
[00:04:35] Speaker B: It's pretty easy news.
[00:04:36] Speaker A: It's very easy news, surprisingly. I don't know what it is. I don't think it's like, probably the state of the world and the Hellmouth has opened and.
I don't know, I just. It was very lackluster. There's some cool things in here, but a lot of the stuff, of course, is behind closed doors, trailers and things like that that.
Honestly, it's fine. But once you've shown it, you know, get it out there to the public so everybody can enjoy it.
They paid their sweaty money, so.
[00:05:06] Speaker B: Exactly. They sure made that sweaty money.
All right, so let's jump over to Marvel news.
First things first.
Spider Man. Brand new day. We're supposed to be getting the. The Tombstone actor Marvin Jones III will be playing the character in live action.
That's cool. You know, plus Tombstone, we haven't seen him cinematically, so excited for that.
[00:05:32] Speaker A: Yeah. What an interesting move.
I just, I. I think the more they do that kind of stuff, the better.
Like Nicolas Cage. Spider Man Noir.
[00:05:42] Speaker B: Yes.
Didn't get a trailer for that.
[00:05:46] Speaker A: Right, right. It's fully filmed. Right.
[00:05:49] Speaker B: What is going on?
[00:05:51] Speaker A: I don't know. I don't know.
[00:05:52] Speaker B: All right, well, anyway, Tombstone, we're gonna be seeing that. Speaking of Spider Verse, third one is announced for 2027.
It moves up one week to June 18th.
Listen, I'm excited when it comes out, but in two more years, like.
[00:06:09] Speaker A: Okay, okay, I'm sorry, but we're getting the Superman sequel before the Batman and Spider verse 3, and it's coming out, I think, in theaters before those two.
It just kind of blows my mind how long this stuff is getting pushed back.
[00:06:28] Speaker B: Right.
Yeah. But you know what's not getting pushed back, Chris, is Marvel Television's Wonder Man.
I did not watch this trailer, but did you?
[00:06:42] Speaker A: I did. I did. It looks funny.
It's definitely on, like, the farce side of storytelling.
It looks good. I mean, it's got, like, a she.
[00:06:56] Speaker B: Hulk type of situation kind of.
[00:06:59] Speaker A: Yeah, definitely more like lighter humor.
It's kind of. I believe it's a little meta, the way they. The. The plot and things like that.
Ben Kingsley's character is in it, of course, and there's some really funny stuff going on in that trailer. So, I mean, I'll watch it. I mean, have. No, I have a lot of other Marvel stuff I haven't watched, so I'll watch it, I think.
[00:07:28] Speaker B: Well, I like the actor quite a bit. I liked when he was black Manta.
[00:07:31] Speaker A: I. I would be okay.
[00:07:33] Speaker B: He showed up again.
Yeah. In Watchmen as well. So, yeah, he's just a good actor.
[00:07:38] Speaker A: So. Yeah.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: Anywho, what's coming on?
Okay, I see what you got here. So we got footage from Vision Quest, Daredevil, Born Again, and X Men 97.
So.
[00:07:55] Speaker A: Incoming.
[00:07:55] Speaker B: I didn't know Vision Quest was already filmed. Filmed.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. It's good to go.
Yeah, I just.
I always. I don't know. I'm just like. Like I said before, like, yes, these guys, these people get to see these special things, but how special is any of that stuff that you can't just release it? You release the Wonder man trailer. I mean, come on. Daredevil, Born again. Sure, sure. Like, that's top secret stuff that we all know about already.
[00:08:26] Speaker B: Well, in your New York, that's how they started the. You know what I mean? When we saw the first television panel that we did, saw the first episode, we were so. But didn't you feel special?
[00:08:40] Speaker A: No, I did.
[00:08:42] Speaker B: So I. I think they should keep it behind closed I'm fine with it.
[00:08:46] Speaker A: We'll get it eventually leaked. It's out there if you want to watch it.
[00:08:50] Speaker B: I want. Of course I do. So let's get into that X Men 97 sequel or next, you know, whatever. 2026. Season two. Season two. And then season three. Also announced.
Listen, X Men 97 was one of the greatest things I've ever seen animated. I, I quite literally believe that. I just. It was everything I had wanted from the X Men. It's better than the original series. It takes those characters to places that Chris Claremont would have dreamed about. So I cannot wait for this next season. He still does. He still keeps doing it, luckily.
[00:09:25] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:09:26] Speaker B: What are you thinking?
[00:09:29] Speaker A: I.
I'm thinking season two this summer. I'm ready for that. So. Yeah. Is it supposed to go beyond season three? I forgot if that was the. The cap.
[00:09:40] Speaker B: I don't know. Yeah.
[00:09:41] Speaker A: They have no idea what they're doing at this point, so.
[00:09:43] Speaker B: Right.
[00:09:44] Speaker A: Fired their showrunner. Which.
[00:09:46] Speaker B: Right. Which I still don't know. You know what I mean? I don't know.
[00:09:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:51] Speaker B: I don't know.
But you had mentioned Daredevil. And so along with that footage, we know that season three is coming back. We also know that season two is going to be coming in March.
So I love that. That seems like a fast slate. Right. You know what I mean? Relatively.
[00:10:12] Speaker A: But that's what they're talking about is like they want a yearly TV show.
[00:10:15] Speaker B: They do need to start closing the gaps on these freaking TV shows.
[00:10:19] Speaker A: They do. Especially when they're eight episodes and it's.
Listen, I thought about this the other day. A movie comes out every two years for first series or whatever. That's awesome. Yeah. If you get that sometimes, you know, in the. In other terms, it's five, 10 years, 20 years, whatever.
So an eight episode TV show that's very much cinematic and movie, like every year is a gift. So I don't care about shows being more than 10 on average episodes. It's. It's much better concentration. It's better money going into effects and whatever.
And just getting it a year later is amazing.
[00:10:57] Speaker B: Yeah. And I'm.
[00:10:59] Speaker A: I'm very happy to hear that kind of stuff happen. Happening.
[00:11:03] Speaker B: Exactly. Very, very excited to see, you know what.
What comes next in the fact that they're going to keep going. Which is exactly what we needed.
What else we need is more doom. We got an announcement of comic book Dungeons of Doom written by Philip Kennedy Johnson, Benjamin Percy, Cover Leno, Francis Yu, George Genty's does interiors. I mean, quite Honestly, this is one of the greatest dream teams that you can ask for.
Doing Doom. Just perfect.
[00:11:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:34] Speaker B: One.
[00:11:34] Speaker A: One world on our. Doom is ending. It's almost ended. It's been very elongated, like Mr. Fantastic.
But then there's like a little bit of.
There's a.
It's funny because there was something else that was like. I watched the other. It was Kamen Rider. It was the new Kamen Rider where they did like this Mr. Fantastic Stuff. I was like, you couldn't. Yeah, they couldn't do this.
[00:11:57] Speaker B: You guys couldn't do this. The movie years of this.
[00:12:01] Speaker A: So anyways, one world under Doom ends.
[00:12:03] Speaker B: And then there's a little bit of.
[00:12:04] Speaker A: A high, like a. A post series stuff going on. And then in December, Captain America's going to let Varia to try to make peace, whatever. But then this happens. So there's some really cool stuff coming up. Plus Doom is coming to the MCU and next year, so got to keep them on the pages always.
[00:12:26] Speaker B: So this drops 2020, January 2026.
Can't wait. We'll keep talking about that also in 26. Which is good. It's coming up.
Wolverine is dropping on PS5. This is going to be in the fall. But we did get a gameplay trailer.
It looks exactly like my favorite Wolverine game. Which is. What was that? X Men 2.
[00:12:49] Speaker A: Origins.
[00:12:50] Speaker B: Origins or Origins. You're right.
Just better.
And that's really just like Spider man, you know, the insomniac is Spider Man 2 from Activision, but better.
[00:13:02] Speaker A: Right?
[00:13:02] Speaker B: That's it. Don't break the effing mold. Just do better. And they're doing it. It looks incredible.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: Yeah. Incredibly violent.
[00:13:11] Speaker B: That game for time.
[00:13:13] Speaker A: Oh, for sure, for sure. This one is.
This one almost pushes the boundaries of like disturbing. When I watch the trailer. It does. I am just like.
This is set in the same world as a Spider man game for maybe kids. I don't know.
Yeah, it's. It's amazing looking and it's everything I've wanted from a Wolverine game. So I can't wait to go stab people in the face and have them bleed everywhere.
[00:13:38] Speaker B: I mean, it's a day. It's a day.
Yeah, It's a day one.
[00:13:41] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:13:43] Speaker B: It's crazy. And then finally, Marvel News. Black Panther and Cosmic Ghost Rider join the cosmic invasion.
So that game, that's that free one, right?
[00:13:53] Speaker A: No, this is. This is. That's side. That's rivals. This is side scrolling. Beat them up.
[00:14:00] Speaker B: Side scroller. Beat them up.
[00:14:01] Speaker A: Everybody's doing.
But this one looks ten times crazier than Even like does Shredder's Revenge.
They keep throwing new characters in. I've watched a lot of it. Really makes me want to play it. Especially when you put, you know, cosmic Ghost Rider, who is Frank Castle in the game.
[00:14:18] Speaker B: So, yeah, this will. This is going to be a buy from us because that's crazy. I didn't know that.
So let's check that out. All right, so this is fitting that you put this in here. So before we fully jump over to the. Across the pond of dc, we're getting a little bit of a merger where they will extend a crossover that they've been working on together. And now we have Superman and Spider man reunite.
Um, the two new one shots featuring the legendary duo.
So it will be Superman, Spider man, and then Spider Man Superman in March and April of next year.
The artwork looks amazing. It's throwback to both of their kind of golden eras. And it just looks really cool.
[00:15:13] Speaker A: Yeah. There's also these treasury editions coming out that will be public. Like just kind of throwing it back to some of the older issues.
[00:15:21] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:15:21] Speaker A: As well.
And this is. I just went to the comic shop the other day and picked up my Deadpool Batman crossover, which included, like the Green Arrow and Daredevil crossover within. So that was the one shot issue that just came out. So they're kind of continuing this and I wonder if it'll just move into something bigger, which I would love to see. So.
[00:15:45] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly, Exactly. So we'll keep you posted as more of those wacky team them ups drop.
Chris had already made mention, but Superman, man of Tomorrow, huh?
[00:15:59] Speaker A: Yeah, I was trying to act surprised. Like, it's.
[00:16:01] Speaker B: Oh, you're surprised. Oh, sorry. You surprised yourself.
[00:16:03] Speaker A: Yes, I did.
[00:16:04] Speaker B: Superman, man of Tomorrow, it's got that July 27th release date.
James Gunn is ready to rock and roll. And we know that the man of Tomorrow will be teaming up Lex with Superman against a much bigger threat, as one does in the comics. See that Lex suit? Are you ready?
[00:16:28] Speaker A: Yeah. Can you watch Peacemaker?
[00:16:32] Speaker B: I will, I will. I know he's in it, cuz. Stupid the Internet, but yeah.
[00:16:36] Speaker A: No, not stupid Internet.
Not watching shows on time. And stupid Internet. Yes. That's why I have to watch shows on time because of stupid. It's cause and effect. It's. It's science.
Yeah, it.
[00:16:50] Speaker B: Science.
All right, going over to Animation News, we've got a little bit of a rewrite for the Dynamic Duo, which will be the animated movie featuring Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
This film is supposed to be coming out in 2020. Eight with Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who will be tapped to write this. And then Arthur Mintz will be directing it. So new kind of animation studio is working on it. It's one of a kind, never been done before.
Arthur Mintz created a whole new studio in Louisiana called Sway Box that's dedicated to starting this.
[00:17:36] Speaker A: Interesting. Is he teaming up Guillermo del Toro's Stop Motion that we'll talk about later.
[00:17:41] Speaker B: Which we'll talk about. Yeah. It's a mix of miniatures, models, puppetry, animatronics, and cgi.
[00:17:47] Speaker A: Sounds wild.
[00:17:48] Speaker B: I know. Well, you know, I think about that turtles, which is like claymation in CGI and stuff. So, like, who knows what this is going to look like? Could look insane. So excited to see where this comes out.
Jumping over to Comic News, we've got absolute Hawkman showing up in October. I know they showed some absolute Catwoman stuff over at Comic Con.
And so we've got absolute Green Arrow coming soon. Absolute Evil coming in October. What do you think?
[00:18:20] Speaker A: Yeah, it's absolutely great.
Yeah. This, it's funny because the, the ultimate universe for the, the new one for Marvel is supposedly ending and they're capping it. Yeah, capping it off, which they promised. I had felt the Absolute Universe was gonna this whole KO event that's coming up that has to do with how Darkseid re birthed the whole DCU and created this Absolute Universe. But apparently Absolute's not going anywhere after that, so it's not going to really affect this popular publishing initiative. So. I love Hawkman. He's definitely one of my favorite characters that, and I looking forward to this. I, I, I'm not really caught up in my Absolute titles. I know, like, this absolute Joker has been kind of insane.
I think they just did absolute Lex Luthor. So, yeah, they're really kind of pushing all this into the mainstream and it's, it's fun. So looking forward to more.
[00:19:20] Speaker B: Yeah. And I just wanted to touch on you said apps, you know, dcko. And they did finally go a lot more into that at Comic Con with some of the big mashups and like Superman versus Captain Atom, Wonder Woman versus Lobo, all that's cool. But then they dropped things like Homelander showing up and like Sub Zero and Mortal Kombat. Yes, it's getting Vampirella, but, but also things like Annabelle from. You know what I mean? Like, it's everything. And so dc, and we're going to talk about it in a second with Swamp Thing seems to be really going. You know what I Don't care. I don't care. Like, if we can throw the Turtles into Mortal Kombat, let's do it. Like, they're really expanding the license in the comic book realm. And it's kind of cool. Cool to see these. These more different mashups.
[00:20:14] Speaker A: Yeah. The. The fact that Warner Brothers owns so much has never really done this because they. Whatever dumb reasons that Warner Brother makes up, you know, they're kind of. They're kind of dumb most of the time up till now. So, no, I. I think DCK was nuts that I actually just picked up the first issue the other day.
At first it seemed like this really goofy idea, right? And I was like, oh, yeah, I'm just gonna do this WWE Battle Royale type thing. And, you know, even the covers are like wrestling variants and stuff like that. I've like, I think I bought the one where Batman's or Superman's like suplexing somebody or pile driving somebody. Wrestling ring. It said, yeah, who the artist was. I was like, because I love the artist. I was getting this. But to your point, what a weird idea, right?
[00:21:03] Speaker B: It's like, yeah, it's almost as weird as Swamp Thing meeting Jesus.
[00:21:10] Speaker A: Nothing's good on that.
[00:21:12] Speaker B: Which is. So DC's gonna be bringing back this canceled 1989 story that Rick Veach was working on and actually ended up leaving after they decided to not publish it. So came out Swamp thing original issues 88 through 91. We'll be seeing the light of day next year.
Meeting Jesus.
Interesting.
And then also in interesting Swamp Thing news, which we usually never get to see on the show, he's going to be doing a crossover from James Tinian with something is killing the children.
So again, weird. What is that crazy?
[00:21:57] Speaker A: That's cool. Yeah. Yes.
[00:21:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:00] Speaker A: So Swamp Thing killing the children.
[00:22:03] Speaker B: I don't highly doubt that now, but we'll find out when that drops next year. And then finally, I know Swamp Thing some. The Swamp Thing is killing the children. You're right.
Kingdom Come is going to be coming out as a full cast audio drama from DC and Penguin Random House.
Super excited to hear the Mark Waid Alex Ross adapted for audiobook listeners.
And yeah, that's just gonna be. We've got Mark Thompson who does almost every Star wars book. He, of course, will be Superman. Lorelei King will be Wonder Woman.
Glenn Rage as Batman. Not quite sure who that is, but, you know, there's gonna be very good name.
Actually, let's just leave the link to this because this is like, to a DC press release. You can See all the rest of the audio cast, and I don't know, I'm excited for something like this. Different way to experience it.
And I love the story, so.
Sounds cool.
[00:23:04] Speaker A: Literally. Yeah. We've seen more and more of these. They just keep doing them.
Great.
[00:23:09] Speaker B: Yeah, that's right. Keep it going.
All right, so we got. What do we got in here, Chris? You. You take this one.
[00:23:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:19] Speaker B: So more swap thing news.
[00:23:21] Speaker A: This is. No, it's. I don't. It's anti swap thing news, possibly. So I put this in between our DC and Star wars news because James Mangold just inked an overall deal with Paramount Pictures.
So what does this look like? I don't know. Does it become exclusive to only Paramount, especially for somebody, like we just said, has been working on the Swamp Thing movie and also dawn of the Jedi for Star Wars.
[00:23:51] Speaker B: I see what you're saying.
[00:23:52] Speaker A: You see what I'm saying? So, yeah, again, you know, as we always say with Star wars stuff, until we are sitting in those seats, let's not think it's gonna happen.
Yeah. So I don't know. James Mangold's a great director. I. I don't know if I'm the biggest fan of Paramount right now, but I don't know, maybe James Mangold does a Star Trek movie.
[00:24:13] Speaker B: I was just gonna say, you know, maybe does it. He pulls a JJA turtle.
Last.
[00:24:19] Speaker A: Last Ronin type kind of deal. You know what I mean? So, yep, the last Logan. You know what I'm saying? So, anyways, that's the news.
There you go.
[00:24:33] Speaker B: I'm excited. You know, to your point, whatever James Mangold decides to do, let's see what he does. Speaking of his possible involvement in Star wars, let's go over to the galaxy far, far away.
Check out the Mando and Grogu trailer. It came out a couple weeks ago, but, you know. Came out a couple weeks ago. We haven't talked about it.
[00:24:51] Speaker A: We could still talk about it.
[00:24:52] Speaker B: We still talk about it.
Star Wars, I'll be honest with you, didn't watch it.
[00:24:57] Speaker A: I'll be honest with you. I watched it, and it's pretty good.
It's a good Star wars trailer. It's not big spoilers. It's big, big action.
Mando and Grogu with some crazy stuff going on. Especially when you see Zeb do something in that trailer. That's pretty cool.
Yeah, it's.
I can't wait. We haven't sat in a theater for Star wars since 2018, 19 maybe, and that's a long damn time.
That's like back when we were kids, like waiting for Star wars to come to theater. Like that's also kind of when you think about what Disney is.
And they should have been putting out movies and doing the right thing. But whatever, this is their safe move because Mando and Grogu is the greatest thing since, you know, sliced bread for Star wars.
And it's awesome.
[00:25:51] Speaker B: So needless to say, you're excited to see it?
[00:25:53] Speaker A: Of course I am. I mean, we love the Mandalorian Straight. A great. It's a great world. A Dave Filoni world. This is just a continuation of that as we move towards whatever they're going to do.
Because I forget if this is where.
No, I think actually it's. It's on Ahsoka where they're going to do that big Grand Animal Thrawn versus Akbar battle.
[00:26:16] Speaker B: So I think so.
[00:26:18] Speaker A: Which it should be on the big screen.
[00:26:19] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:26:21] Speaker A: So when Grand Animal Thrawn becomes on the big screen for Heir to the Jedi movie adaptation that they need to do for the final movie. Let's. Let's see it. Can't wait. But I don't know, I guess we're not getting any more Mando and Grogu after this, right? This is like the wrap up.
Yeah.
[00:26:39] Speaker B: I don't think there's a season four. I think that's the end.
So I'm excited to see it because it's a great show. I've enjoyed the characters. I want to see how they transition out or maybe they'll show up in other things later on, but they will.
You know, we're. We'll see how this goes.
The publishing world dropped a lot more news though for Star wars over the weekend.
So. Including, we've got Star Wars Legacy. It's a book written by Madeline Rue, who's written a certain point of view stories.
But this book takes place between Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker and focuses on that relationship between Leia and Rey that we, we didn't see at all.
[00:27:24] Speaker A: Cool.
[00:27:24] Speaker B: What do you think?
[00:27:25] Speaker A: I just said it.
Very unenthusia.
[00:27:29] Speaker B: Okay. I gotcha. I don't.
[00:27:31] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I read, I read about.
Sounds okay. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna on it, but I just don't care. At the same time, Leia's gonna what, Talk to her about the, the Jedi arts that she doesn't really know.
Do some training that they're going to talk about Luke and just kind of like have blue milk over his, you know, his death.
Blame each other and it sounds really shitty actually in comparison to the books we used to get when we were enjoying reading Star wars books.
[00:28:04] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, I.
We'll see.
I am excited.
[00:28:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:28:11] Speaker B: About this Jar Jar Binks book written by Ahmed Best and Mark Guggenheim.
[00:28:16] Speaker A: Me too.
[00:28:16] Speaker B: It's a one shot coming in.
[00:28:19] Speaker A: Great.
[00:28:19] Speaker B: Coming soon. Coming February.
Artist Star Wars.
Yeah, it's manga, actually. No, it's not manga.
[00:28:29] Speaker A: Tsukumo. The Another Visions book is coming out. Yes, we're getting that.
[00:28:34] Speaker B: Yes, yes. That has got like, it looks like a, I don't know, like a Jedi Stormtrooper blend type of thing, which is kind of cool.
[00:28:44] Speaker A: As only manga can do.
[00:28:46] Speaker B: Exactly. And of course we'll get a ton more Grogu and Mando books.
We're getting another Vader. Red, white and red. We are getting a Lost Stars manga which. Did you ever read Lost Stars?
[00:28:59] Speaker A: Oh yeah, yeah. I just let my friend borrow it actually.
[00:29:01] Speaker B: She read Great book.
[00:29:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:04] Speaker B: So we are, you know, and we're getting some cool stuff.
Definitely in publishing. Star wars always does exceed expectations, I find.
Yes.
Yeah.
[00:29:18] Speaker A: Pretty cool.
[00:29:20] Speaker B: All right, so let's jump over to the other side of the galaxy. Our side, which is Star Trek. We've got a Starfleet Academy trailer.
This is cool.
[00:29:31] Speaker A: Yeah, I didn't have a chance to watch it yet.
It comes out in January, which is the next chapter in Star wars or Star Trek. Stiff set in the world of Discovery after they reinvented Starfleet.
Some revisiting characters from the past along with some Discovery characters. And of course, of course Paul Giamatti is a villain who I can't wait to see in the Star Trek universe.
[00:29:59] Speaker B: Yeah. And we got Holly Hunter in there. Like man, super, super excited to see how this rolls out, especially since it does have characters that I like from Discovery as well.
Yeah, fun, fun trailer.
When is the show? It's going to come out January 15th. January 15th. So very soon.
We also got the official announcement that LEGO will be doing a. What are they doing the Enterprise?
[00:30:33] Speaker A: I don't know. It looks like they're doing a Star Trek probably big set to begin with.
The tease was only like Jean Luc Picard and later form, which the rumor has been that it'll be the Enterprise D which after they just released that thousand dollar Death Star, I'm more and more worried this is going to be like a 500, 600 set, which it's appropriately has to be if you want to do it in like a good scale. The number of minifigures you're going to release with it.
[00:31:03] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:31:04] Speaker A: And More so who knows what this leads to. This doesn't even just look like a Lego's idea. This looks like a main release where you can get multiple sets. So. Yep. What, my Bird of Prey. That's it.
[00:31:19] Speaker B: That's right. And.
[00:31:22] Speaker A: And the DS9.
[00:31:22] Speaker B: Yeah, that's darn right. All right, so let's switch over to crowd sorcery.
Our friend Mark Millar has a new book out.
This is called Conquered Volume 1 of 4. Which I thought was kind of wild. It's kind of like his own fantasy Dungeons and Dragons sort of thing with Valerio Gian Giordano on art.
[00:31:52] Speaker A: You did well with that one, I thought.
[00:31:54] Speaker B: So they wanted 26,000. It's at 57,000 at the time of this recording. Got over two weeks to go. I of course had to back it because I love Mark Millar. And we'll leave the link in there.
[00:32:07] Speaker A: Backed it, backed it.
[00:32:09] Speaker B: That's it. This one. This is you. What do we got here?
[00:32:14] Speaker A: Chalk it up as things I shouldn't be buying this. This.
Berserk, the board game by Monolith, who does amazing miniature board Games.
For only $200, you can have as many Berserk miniatures as your heart desires.
This game is featuring one to five players playing through the different stories of Berserk from the beginning through the.
[00:32:44] Speaker B: Any one exist. How does that work?
[00:32:47] Speaker A: One what?
[00:32:48] Speaker B: One to five? Like you can.
[00:32:50] Speaker A: Because a lot of these. Yes, a lot of these games, like the Drist game, I have the D and D. Like those D and D ones are one player games. So it's actually there's another really cool one I had back. So it's, it's cool because you can. You can role play and play a board game by yourself and not have to have a party or have people over and, and just waste your money on miniatures, which.
No, but anyways, yeah, you can get this.
It's. It's a huge set. They actually also have an add on for more for like 80 pounds, whatever that translates into shitty American money.
Yeah, this looks, this looks great. And it also.
Yeah, I mean I, I may or may not have ordered this. So.
[00:33:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
And the last thing in crowd sourcery, which I know you did not order, which is the Tron has Lab Heroes of the grid.
[00:33:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:51] Speaker B: $260 for Tron. Like if you're a huge Tron fan, then this is for you.
[00:33:58] Speaker A: Are there a huge trudge? Like big enough?
[00:34:00] Speaker B: I don't know if it's made money yet. I can't tell on the website, which we'll leave in here.
[00:34:05] Speaker A: It'll be a good. It'll be a good tell if TRON4 should be made.
[00:34:09] Speaker B: No, it's already made. It's made no money. I think Tron is dead after this weekend.
[00:34:14] Speaker A: It's been. It's been dead. The only thing that keeps Tron alive are those amazing soundtracks.
And if you haven't listened it, I'm gonna plug it. Go listen the Nine Inch Nails soundtrack for Tron Aries, which is awesome.
[00:34:26] Speaker B: And you know what, Chris? I'm gonna do it. Let's do it right now. We're gonna go to commercial. We're gonna listen to the Tron Airy soundtrack. We'll be right back.

[00:35:14] Speaker B: We've been looking all over for this one.
[00:35:16] Speaker A: Let's get him in our sights and.
[00:35:18] Speaker B: End this hunt now.
All right, all right.
[00:35:22] Speaker A: Steady, steady now.
[00:35:25] Speaker B: Got em.
[00:35:27] Speaker A: It's the pursuit of Plastic.

[00:36:08] Speaker B: We are back after those luscious commercials. And Chris, what time is it?
[00:36:13] Speaker A: It's time for the Pursuit of Plastic.
[00:36:18] Speaker B: There we go. So Toys R Us is back again.
Back, back, back, another, another time. They're opening up in Chicago for the holiday season.
What do you think of this?
[00:36:31] Speaker A: They're opening 13,000 square foot stores.
All right, this isn't just like a little section in Macy's that everything is on the floor. There's clothes littered all over it. And know you're, you're lucky if things aren't like bent to hell. I mean, you're lucky anyways if you go to the store and things aren't.
[00:36:50] Speaker B: But yeah, this is big.
[00:36:52] Speaker A: I mean they're opening this in Chicago. It opened up in September and this isn't it. This isn't the only one.
And seemingly it doesn't seem like it's just going to be for the holiday, which I really have missed a toy store and, and I, I've heard there's going to be more of them.
The store will also have an arcade area. Now that's innovation right there.
Something new.
But yeah, I mean I'm really excited. I love Toys R Us for the most part.
You know, it's. It was kind of a sad day when we no longer had massive toy stores where you can go. Like now we're.
You gotta buy things from department stores which are horribly stocked or you have to buy them online, which can be really tough. So.
And I missed the Toys R Us exclusives. I just wanted to be a Toys R Us kid again. Casey.
[00:37:54] Speaker B: Well, nothing makes me feel more like a kid than Mondo.
[00:38:00] Speaker A: For sure because.
[00:38:01] Speaker B: I wonder if they would sell them at Toys R Us. But Mondo gave a big reveal of some of the things that they have coming up. Not only in 1:6 scale which they've been destroying at, but now they're also releasing 1/12 scale including real Ghostbusters.
Masters of the Universe.
We've got some stuff from turtles like DC Marvel Animated. It just keeps going. What do you think about this? Just non stop.
[00:38:30] Speaker A: Well, this new stuff, right. It's crazy. So they had been doing this Thundercats line. So they showed the Chitaro from that. Then they like I didn't know they were. I thought I knew they were doing these, these big TMNT ones.
[00:38:42] Speaker B: And I did not know this.
[00:38:43] Speaker A: I didn't know they were like, like this.
[00:38:45] Speaker B: No, I did not this until this exact moment.
[00:38:48] Speaker A: They look mean and they look awesome.
Gargoyles is going to get the 1:6 treatment, which is amazing. I don't need them, but they're going to look great.
And then this, like you said, the 1 12th scale stuff, they moved into that with the Master Universe 2000X line. And these look amazing.
And it's really like I love the designs from that. A lot of them were designed by like four horsemen, stuff like that for that show. So this is cool to see.
The real Ghostbusters continues to just really slam it. And even a Janine like sitting at her desk figure set.
And then we see Ray finally because I think it was like Egon and Peter at first we didn't want to seen so Now Winston and Ray are finally a part of it with their bonus ghost that you get for the special pre order. So there's like the regular order, then there's the deluxe one where you get the cool ass ghost.
Yeah, this is.
This is awesome. This is some of the best stuff I've seen coming out of a toy company. It's really impressive.
Yes.
You know, too bad I spend my money on magic now. No, actually much more.
[00:40:02] Speaker B: Says the guy who's about to spend all his money on those turtles. Reveals.
And then finally, Hasbro Pulse has released a new Optimus Prime. This one from the Energon universe. It'll be $80 something. A much more digestible amount of money that we've gotten out of Hasbro. And you can pre order that now. We'll leave the link for that one.
[00:40:27] Speaker A: I did. I did.
Because it's awesome and he has the Megatron arm and I need to get caught up in my comics because.
[00:40:37] Speaker B: Exactly.
[00:40:38] Speaker A: It's crazy. It's a really cool figure and. And it's a decent price for that. That size too, so.
[00:40:44] Speaker B: And the comic continues to be sweet. So speaking of comics, let's jump over to.
Archie will be doing a crossover with army of Darkness and even more. They already did Jane Silent Bob.
They did Versus Minor Threats. We had seen them do Predator a bunch of things, but yeah, now we'll be seeing Ash come into the Archie world. And why not?
[00:41:18] Speaker A: Yeah, why not?
[00:41:19] Speaker B: Why not?
[00:41:20] Speaker A: It seemingly is always popular.
[00:41:24] Speaker B: That's it.
[00:41:25] Speaker A: Archie of the Archie of Darkness. That's it.
Yeah.
[00:41:29] Speaker B: Can I. Cannot wait.
And then since we are in spooky season, idw, Dark will announce some new horror titles.
We've got Smile for the Camera, which takes place in the Smile universe, which I have been geeking out on. That quiet place. We've got a book coming there. We've got one for an exorcism at Buckingham Palace.
And also Operation Iron Coffin, which is kind of like a new type of Castlevania meets Metal Gear and Hellboy. So what? Really getting some cool ass, you know, new stuff from idw. And I like that they just keep diversifying their profile with the IP that.
[00:42:12] Speaker A: They have, you know, Operation Iron Coffin. A British bomber drops an iron coffin containing Dracula on a Nazi train carrying super weapons in order to stop Hitler from creating a vampire army.
Yeah, yeah. If that doesn't be made a movie, I'll cry because I need to see this and read this.
[00:42:32] Speaker B: I mean, it just sounds effing bonkers. So that is coming out. Check that out at A local comic book store near you. All right, let's jump over to TV streaming as he man continues his day in the loincloth. We're gonna be getting a new prequel movie, which is weird, coming out in 2026. And of course, movie inspired toys will come along with it, including Scare Glow, etc. Okay. It's a prequel to the movie movie. The live action movie.
[00:43:07] Speaker A: So.
[00:43:07] Speaker B: Okay, this. This sounds.
[00:43:08] Speaker A: Yeah, prequel animated series.
You know how they do like shorts sometimes with character specifics and things like that. And yeah, it's all a good lead into them building this universe out.
[00:43:22] Speaker B: This is exactly the kind of announcement that I wanted because, you know, not every company can go and spend money on doing toy line because if the movie sucks. But like, it's he man, it needs toys. And so this just.
[00:43:38] Speaker A: It was birthed by toys.
[00:43:40] Speaker B: Exactly. So, you know, Transformers, like Turtles, even, like to a certain extent, like all these Companies from the 80s really get it. So, yeah, great. Bring on the series. Bring on the new toys. Bring in the loincloths.
[00:43:52] Speaker A: Yes. When is that accessory come out? I can't wait. Yep.
[00:43:56] Speaker B: It's come just for you, Chris. Real fern cloth and sword.
We are also getting a conjuring TV show and we've got the showrunner for that who will be Nancy Wan.
And then we'll be seeing Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires coming on to the series writers. So I cannot wait for more conjuring. I still haven't gotten a chance to see Last Rights though. I know I made a ton of money.
I'll wait for it to come out. Yeah, yeah.
[00:44:31] Speaker A: Very good things.
[00:44:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
And hbo, honestly, they've got dairy coming out soon. Like they get it. I like that they're doing this kind of stuff with their own stuff.
[00:44:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:44:43] Speaker B: So excited for that. And then more spooky things.
Afterlife with art Archie is coming to Disney plus They did amazing things with Netflix with Sabrina Archie. The Afterlife is a really cool comic series. And to see that come to Afterlife on TV will be pretty sweet, in my opinion.
[00:45:06] Speaker A: For sure.
Yeah.
[00:45:08] Speaker B: And then finally in TV news, Game of Thrones, A Night of the Seven Seasons. We got a trailer for that.
I did not get a chance to see it.
[00:45:16] Speaker A: No.
[00:45:17] Speaker B: And I do want to. Is it cool?
[00:45:19] Speaker A: It is very cool. It is very funny.
Which is, I think the interesting twist on this is the humor in this trailer. And it just.
It actually, like, I wasn't really that in the House of the Dragon. I want to watch it. I just kind of fell off it. It didn't really pump me up, right? And it was like, oh, all right. More Game of Thrones. And that.
Whatever. This I watched, I was like, not even thinking about. I just said, I'm gonna watch this. I wasn't even that interested in the show. And now I'm interested in the show because of the. The humor in this trailer. And it looks cool. So, yeah, go watch it.
[00:46:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I love that. Okay, Cool, cool, cool.
Yeah, so that's. That's coming out next year and get ready for that.
So let's jump over to movie news.
We've got good news, bad news for Mortal Kombat.
[00:46:18] Speaker A: It's not bad news.
[00:46:20] Speaker B: Second one delayed in the theater to.
[00:46:24] Speaker A: Summer from the fall from now, which we were just saying, like, how the fall has been kind of shitty. But I would put that movie in the summer slot too, though. I mean, they're not wrong. It sucks for us, but yeah, definitely. It's a smart move, honestly. At the same time.
[00:46:45] Speaker B: Right. As long as they can compete with all the things that we talked about in 2026, whether they had literally no competition this October.
[00:46:53] Speaker A: So. Yeah, but it's a different. Sure, yeah, but it's also different.
Are people going to theater now? Would they have gone? I don't know. Know.
[00:47:02] Speaker B: I mean, we're going to talk about something coming up where they will go to the theater. So I, I.
[00:47:06] Speaker A: Exactly.
[00:47:06] Speaker B: Personally, I think it's not the best move when maybe you have a bunch of movies coming out maybe.
[00:47:11] Speaker A: And I want to see it now.
[00:47:12] Speaker B: Right? Like, right now there is nothing out. Dude. Yeah, when was it, dude, Taylor Swift.
[00:47:19] Speaker A: Movie, you know, have tickets for that all week, every day.
[00:47:22] Speaker B: Right, exactly. So anyway, it was supposed to come out in October. It's not now.
[00:47:26] Speaker A: God damn it, Now I'm dead.
[00:47:29] Speaker B: The third movie did get announced and it is coming out. And that's exciting whenever they start filming that because.
Yeah, that's exciting.
[00:47:39] Speaker A: All right. Keep it going.
[00:47:41] Speaker B: Also coming to theater. This came out of left field and I'm not sad about it, but we'll be getting Kill Bill, the Whole Bloody Affair, which will be both movies put together with 70 millimeter and 35 millimeter releases. This will go nationwide on December 5th of this year.
I have only seen it once on a Korean bootleg dvd. I believe that I owned that. I have since Lost, and hopefully this means that I will get to see that because I saw it without the black and white.
It had full color and it was insane. In this release, you'll get a seven and a half minute animated sequence that was never released.
So yeah, man. Let's see what this means.
[00:48:28] Speaker A: And finally, both movies together on one disc. Home release.
[00:48:32] Speaker B: That's what I'm saying. Like, I'm hoping you get our 4k the way it's meant to be seen.
[00:48:37] Speaker A: I mean, it's. What is this, 23rd? How many years is this?
[00:48:41] Speaker B: 2011.
[00:48:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Wait, no, that can't be right.
Whatever it is, 2003 was the first one, and then 2004 for the second one.
[00:48:53] Speaker A: We're like 20 years.
[00:48:53] Speaker B: 20 something years.
[00:48:54] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:55] Speaker B: So finally we're going to see those in the theaters.
Predator, Badlands, possibly the biggest movie of the entire year. And even more so now of.
[00:49:06] Speaker A: Of our time, of our generation, of.
Of the world, the universe.
[00:49:13] Speaker B: May I say it is getting a PG13 rating. And I'll be quite honest with you, it's one of the only times where I'm happy because it means more money for this movie. It means kids age 5 and up will be seeing this movie in the theater and including maybe my daughter, depending on just how violent it is. And I cannot wait to see it because like, yeah, you want to go kill a bunch of aliens and not humans, fine. I don't care what you're killing, Just bring me a great story.
[00:49:44] Speaker A: Yeah. Which it already looks like it is.
I. It's my most anticipated movie of the year because we don't have much left.
So overall, it's been my second most anticipated movie of the year. And I. And every time I see these trails, I haven't watched the latest trailer, the final trailer yet. And I probably won't because we have less than a month until it drops.
[00:50:06] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:50:07] Speaker A: And to your point, it's like, is not hunting humans.
Put it out there for the general audience and there's no reason why you still can't do crazy ass things with it.
And they announced that one day only Prey and Badlands double feature, which is on a Wednesday, unfortunately. And hopefully, like we've spoke about, that they expand the Prey theater run. Because I would love to see that in theater as well.
[00:50:37] Speaker B: Yes, that's right. That's right.
[00:50:39] Speaker A: They're great things happening in that universe.
[00:50:41] Speaker B: Yep.
Yeah, some. You know what, I don't know why tickets haven't gone on sale, because like you said, it's less than a month away. But yeah, that's dumb.
You had hinted at this earlier, but Netflix owner Ted Sarandos and Guillermo del Toro are going to be doing a stop motion studio. It'll be in France. It will hopefully push the very boundaries of space and time. CTHULHU himself is supposed to be a teacher there.
So I cannot wait to see what they cook up.
[00:51:18] Speaker A: I don't have anything to say.
[00:51:20] Speaker B: All right.
So whatever movie they decide to sounds amazing. The elder gods grant them. We will watch and we'll tell you about those.
And finally in movie news, Happy Death Day three is moving forward.
I love the first two. I cannot wait. It's supposed to be the ending of Trees trilogy and they can make Happy Death Day movies for as long as they want in my opinion. I'm happy with those. So we'll see see what happens with this.
[00:51:49] Speaker A: Agreed.
All right.
[00:51:53] Speaker B: Let's go on to some video game news.
Metroid for the long anticipated Metroid Prime 4. Sorry. Anticipated game is finally going to get a release date which is December 4th of this year. It will be open world. It will be using a motorcycle kind of.
[00:52:12] Speaker A: Open world kind of. They. They were kind of like Open world.
[00:52:17] Speaker B: Is Nintendo lets you honestly.
[00:52:19] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean Breath of wild.
[00:52:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:52:22] Speaker A: But I mean to the. To your point. It's like they. They kind of pushed that and then they kind of retracted it.
But cool. I mean Samus on a motorcycle sounds like fun.
Yeah. This will. This makes me want to buy a Switch too. I. I really want to see if they put out a Special Metroid Switch 2 bundle.
That's what I'm kind of waiting to see if that happens. And I kind of want to buy the Metroid Prime 1 remaster which is supposed to be really amazing for Switch. So just to get back into it.
[00:52:57] Speaker B: Other things that are not quite amazing for Switch. Depending on your point of view is the Virtual Boy will be getting re released. It's a hundred dollar replica that you can plug into your Switch. They'll be releasing 14 of its 28 total games.
I just remember. I think Eric Myers had it. I remember burning my eyes playing Mario tennis and never looking back again. Or the same again.
[00:53:30] Speaker A: I mean chalk it up. Is things that don't need to exist just like the original.
[00:53:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:53:36] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't know. I don't know about this.
I don't care.
[00:53:42] Speaker B: Why did we put it on this website?
[00:53:44] Speaker A: No, we need because. So we could make fun of it. Yeah. No I. I agree. Exactly.
It's such a weird thing to do.
[00:53:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:53:53] Speaker A: I would rather just buy a Lego Game Boy and And make it work like everybody.
[00:53:58] Speaker B: Oh and mod it.
[00:53:59] Speaker A: That's cool news. Right. That's the. Why aren't you doing that Nintendo.
[00:54:04] Speaker B: Exactly. But things that are weird that are getting done as well are a theme park based Sim based off of Mars Attacks.
I read this news. I was very confused as to the sentence I read out loud, as I still am. But you can control the theme park where you can do Mars Attacks type things, which I assume means melting people's faces because that's what typically they did in those tops cards.
[00:54:35] Speaker A: Yeah, this.
Sim games are fun. And this sounds like the ultimate sim game. Yeah, this kind of stuff. Just weird.
[00:54:46] Speaker B: So weird. I guess they just. They seem to never really know what to do with this franchise. No. Let's just do this same thing with like Mar or not. Mars Attacks Starship Troopers. I feel like they both just take huge swings out there. But hey, it's. It's happening.
I don't know if you got a chance to see this preview for Mad King.
[00:55:06] Speaker A: I did because you put it on the show. Notes actually did my homework.
Yeah, I said this.
[00:55:12] Speaker B: Like I really. I was shocked at this. So this is some random game called Mad King Redemption. They dropped this trailer. It looks like a normal 2D beat them up. And then all of a sudden it gets insane. So it's like Golden Axe, but it's a roguelite. There's some weird 3D type of elements in the animation which we've never seen before. It's like since the Lion King running from Wildebeest.
I mean it really looks. You remember that in the game when you're just like, how did they do this for Super Nintendo?
Disney Magic Alchemy.
[00:55:45] Speaker A: That's it.
[00:55:46] Speaker B: Clearly the Mad King also seeps the same alchemy juice because this game looks awesome.
We'll leave the trailer for that in here.
[00:55:56] Speaker A: So please do.
[00:55:57] Speaker B: Final Fantasy is just getting all sorts of more stuff as we knew. What's next, Chris? Tell us. Tell us what's coming.
[00:56:05] Speaker A: So it's funny because they're re releasing or another new.
Finally re or re releasing 9 for North America release on switch and also 7 and 8. Finally the remasters for Switch of North America. Because the only way to order that was through. They've only made them for like outside the United States. Which is fine because Nintendo is open.
What is it? Not open source but not region free. It's completely region free. So you can. You can buy the English version and get the PEGI 16 and all that crap.
But I actually just bought both of these recently for less money than what they're going for in North America re release. But it's nice to see that they're. They're releasing these three games because one of them is my favorite Final Fantasy of all Time. And the other two are. Are fun.
[00:57:00] Speaker B: The other two exist.
[00:57:02] Speaker A: Guess which one is which.
[00:57:03] Speaker B: That's right.
[00:57:04] Speaker A: Leaving. Leaving the comments.
[00:57:07] Speaker B: Exactly, exactly.
And then finally there's a. Oh, I'm.
[00:57:12] Speaker A: Sorry, one more thing.
[00:57:12] Speaker B: Oh, God.
[00:57:13] Speaker A: And Disidia Decidia, which is a hit or miss fighting game, you know, back from the PSP era, which, when they were good and then they released the, the PlayStation 4 one, which actually I just picked up the other day off of ebay because I wanted to play it.
That became like an arena, more arena battle esque game. Yeah. And it wasn't as popular as the first two, but there's a preview, there's a coming soon video on the Square Enix website for a new Dissidia mobile game which will also become like a team based arena battle.
[00:57:48] Speaker B: We'll leave the link for that one so you guys can check it out.
My thing is these mobile games from Final Fantasy keep getting destroyed. Like they keep getting canceled. And I've played some and you've told me some and I'm like, oh, this is cool. And the next time I log in, it's gone. I'm just like, all right. I just, I can't get invested anymore.
The one thing I can't get heavily invested in and how we'll close out.
[00:58:15] Speaker A: The show today is for the next two hours.
[00:58:17] Speaker B: So you guys strap yourself in. If you're not a magic fan, this episode is done. Bye. But if you are a magic fan, there was a lot of stuff that just got released, including the entire release schedule and there's just a ton of thing. What do we got? 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 main releases and then a ton of things that we don't even know about. But some of the highlights include the non traditional magic releases such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Marvel superheroes, Star Trek.
[00:58:50] Speaker A: Oh, and the Hobbit.
[00:58:53] Speaker B: Yes, but he's still universe expanded.
[00:58:56] Speaker A: It is, but I.
[00:58:57] Speaker B: It is universe expanded. But I'm saying like Final Fantasy. I know it's universe expanded, but it's still fantasies. Whereas like Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, like, I think Tolkien invented fantasy. They could. Do they. I'm sorry, you can't complain about that.
[00:59:10] Speaker A: I don't. I. Am I complaining?
[00:59:12] Speaker B: I know you are not.
[00:59:13] Speaker A: I'm. I'm complaining. How much money has to go into 2026.
[00:59:18] Speaker B: Word.
Yeah, that's true. I think we need to get to one of these cons, to be honest with you.
[00:59:23] Speaker A: Next year we need to go to Las Vegas together. That's. I think that's. I Think that's the. A good one to go to sounds. I've never been to Vegas and you say go to Vegas, Chris, and it's hours from me.
[00:59:35] Speaker B: I love Vegas.
[00:59:35] Speaker A: I can drive there.
[00:59:37] Speaker B: Yes. Very, very fun. So other things that got announced and.
[00:59:41] Speaker A: Can I start. Can I say something?
[00:59:43] Speaker B: Do what you got.
[00:59:44] Speaker A: Just. Can I say it's your podcast too. It is, yes.
It's half my podcast.
Just real quick in this, this Ninja Turtle thing before we get to it, because when they released this calendar. Okay. Before we actually get into that. Yes, I was after they released spongebob and we knew they had this Paramount deal and we knew it was gonna be Ninja Turtles. And then they put this calendar out with, oh, this is mystery Universes beyond sets coming.
It just makes me very happy that we could see the future.
And that's all I wanted.
[01:00:20] Speaker B: That's fair. That's fair. So, you know, we could go down a whole path of all these things. But I guess to the point of the things that were announced and I'll just say in between all that, we do have Laurewin, which is coming out. Lauren Eclipse. Yeah. We got secrets of Strixhaven and whatever reality fracture is going to be. What, Chris.
[01:00:42] Speaker A: The first two, which is kind of cool, I hear, is because these actually have DND tie ins as well. Right. Strixhaven has been tied into D and D with a source book. I think they just did a Lorawind one as well. So this merging of galaxies, not galaxies, worlds of fantasy.
It's very exciting to see more of that and more possibilities of MTG showing up in D and D.
Yeah.
[01:01:11] Speaker B: I did not realize that Lauren did Strixhaven. They dropped something 5e in 2021, but while ago. Yeah. So, yeah, Lauren jumping in there. That's been recently this year. So I do like that crossover. Yeah, that's the thing. I like a lot of this stuff and I actually don't really have any big issues with anything that was announced because Marvel, to me will be the most left field.
You know what I mean?
Turtles technically is two actually. Never mind.
[01:01:43] Speaker A: I'm sorry.
[01:01:44] Speaker B: So Star Trek.
[01:01:44] Speaker A: Star Trek.
But I mean, we knew that. That's another thing where it's like, it's Paramount owned. They did Edge of Eternities where like they're. This Star Trek rumor stuff is true. And now I just like, oh, it's gonna be a secret layer. No, it's not a secret layer. It's a. It's a freaking release. And that's even crazier to me. Like what they can do with that.
[01:02:03] Speaker B: I think people forget with magic that robots exist, pirates exist, detectives exist. Like, all of these things have existed before Universe Beyond.
And while you might want to fight that, Assassin's Creed does not belong in this. Well, there's assassins, and they've been there for decades. So, like, we can't really. Like, there's been turtles. There has been. Now, there hasn't been Spongebobs or Mr. Fantastics, but, like, My Little Ponies.
[01:02:32] Speaker A: Don't play with them.
[01:02:33] Speaker B: There's My Little Ponies. Yes.
[01:02:35] Speaker A: But here's. There's my argument. You created a game that has to do with multiverses. Multiverse, where they go to different planes of existence where different things are happening, and then people want to sit around and complain, like, this isn't going to happen, when it's, like, making this. Com, like this company so much money. Like, the people on their. On their. On their YouTubes and their podcasts complain about it, and then they're, like, fully embracing it when it comes out because they. They like their commercial money. You know what I mean? So it's like.
I get it. Like, the original people that play this game, they don't like it. It doesn't fit for them.
But it does. It does fit, and it makes the thing money, and it keeps the thing alive, and it brings new players into it. So it's like, it's so tough to argue against this stuff when you could easily argue that it exists within the magic realm of magic.
[01:03:28] Speaker B: Right, right. And so, you know, I'm embracing the releases where there's a secret lair that's coming out tomorrow. Tomorrow, right. That's a little bit more secret Scare, they're calling it. Where we're getting things like Jaws.
[01:03:48] Speaker A: What?
[01:03:49] Speaker B: The Office, which is just so.
[01:03:52] Speaker A: Evil Eddie.
[01:03:53] Speaker B: Evil Eddie. Iron Maiden.
[01:03:55] Speaker A: Love it.
[01:03:55] Speaker B: You know what I mean? Like, we're getting a lot of PlayStation drops. The trick or Treat drop. I probably will. I'll probably get that because I've wanted Veto Voja and Wilhelt. I have held off from buying those people, and I want all of them, even the Liberator. Urza's Battle thopter will go into any artifact deck that you ever will have because it's an insane card.
[01:04:19] Speaker A: Which one?
[01:04:21] Speaker B: Urza's Battle Factor.
[01:04:23] Speaker A: Is there a reprint of that? Because I have that in my. It's my artifact deck, anyway.
[01:04:27] Speaker B: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. But, like, that Trick or Treat one is great. There's furries. It's a really very weird lineup of things. But that's Secret Layer. It should be weird.
[01:04:37] Speaker A: It's.
[01:04:38] Speaker B: Your same cards just changed. So I don't really fight too much about it.
[01:04:44] Speaker A: Not always. And I'll talk about that.
[01:04:45] Speaker B: Not always. Sonic wasn't like that. I understand.
[01:04:48] Speaker A: No, Sonic. I mean, still. They tie in these cards that.
Because Sonic had multiple drops. Right. And they tie in these. They tie in these reprints in with. With the new commanders or whatever you want to call them. The. The new cards to finish with this secret layer. Scary drop art looks good on a lot of these. I am definitely getting in line for the Jaws tomorrow because it's Jaws, but moving into this next one with, like, the PlayStation one.
My biggest frustration is this. It's like, I don't want a lot of these reprints, and it's very expensive with this $10 increase on each one to be like, yeah, I want to go get my Kratos and I want to get my Aloy, and I want to get my Nathan Drake, but I got to buy three sets.
I feel like, do a Commander Bundle with your main characters as well. I get what you're doing, but it's also like, I'm not going to. I don't want to buy all of this stuff.
Yeah, I don't.
But I want, like, will the single for Kratos be cheap? I don't know. Maybe, like, the Sonic ones are cheap.
[01:05:58] Speaker B: So I. I think yes. I. I think what happens with these secret layers and these universe beyonds is that you do get a surge of players. So you get 70% of new players buy these things that just think these cards are cool. Then I'd say probably of those, maybe 15 actually stay on playing the game. And so you get, like, these really big surges of money. But then the people who are actually staying with the game, it's not all of those same people.
And so I think for them, like, they keep seeing this surge of money, and it makes sense month after month to release one of these. But I don't know about. When I go to the game place, I don't see spongebob cards. I don't see any of that stuff because the people playing don't typically do it all the time.
[01:06:46] Speaker A: I. It's weird because I've. When I go through the singles at my shop, like, the S ones are in there. There's a lot of, like, these secret layers that are just not. Like, the ones are less popular. Yeah. Somehow they just end up in there. And it's just like the drive this price drive the scalping drive also is what kind of like, as we know from years of collecting, is frustrating at the same time. Right. Because what. What is the difference between a Final Fantasy Drop and everything's still up that much money? And then, like, what happened with Spider Man? They. It boosted all that scalping idea.
[01:07:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:07:25] Speaker A: But it's like, there's still Spider man secret lair sitting in the store unsold. Right. And so it's not like, the demand is weird for this.
And I also think it's the quality of the cars they're putting out. So, like, I. I really like those Daily Bugle cards for the look of them.
[01:07:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:07:45] Speaker A: Are they great cards?
Not really. There's one in there I want for maybe, but I can go buy it for five bucks. The regular release, you know, I don't know. Is dropping two secret layers at. Within the same month, two weeks later a good idea? How is that. How is that feasible for people's wallets? That's crazy. Yeah, that's crazy.
[01:08:07] Speaker B: Constant. They're.
[01:08:08] Speaker A: At least there's no reason to release that now. You could have done it in November, honestly, unless you got two more coming.
[01:08:14] Speaker B: So I 1000% agree.
But let's just talk Turtles real quick here.
Yeah, I think we both are on the same page that we're excited.
[01:08:26] Speaker A: Oh, I've been. I've been excited about this since I made it up my head that it was going to happen until they didn't do Ninjutsu. But whatever. Sneak is cool anyways.
Please continue.
[01:08:38] Speaker B: No, no, I.
[01:08:41] Speaker A: I'm very spider.
[01:08:43] Speaker B: You know, as a huge Spider man fan, um, I was really disappointed with the release. I didn't really like a lot of mechanics. I thought the Legendary was just too out of control. And the artwork, more especially, just didn't really excite me. And Turtles is the exact opposite feeling. Where I love every legendary that I'm looking at. I. I like almost everything that I have seen. Like, individual cards where I'm like, yeah, I could use this. I could use this. Yep. You know what I mean? And, like, the flavor text, the names of the characters, you know what I mean? Like, it's pretty insane. The only thing I wish I have not seen yet is like, a Casey Jones where I can pair it up with a Raphael. But I wouldn't be surprised if we just haven't seen it yet.
[01:09:31] Speaker A: Oh, for sure.
[01:09:32] Speaker B: From the spoilers, because I love the partner mechanic, and I'm glad it's back.
[01:09:37] Speaker A: I.
Yeah, to your point, with the Spider man, like, the whole Marvel thing, I'm Just like, I just bought a Spider man card for my deck, right? Whatever. I'm gonna buy singles from the. From these Marvel sets, but I'm just. I wish I could be excited about it. I just don't want to be. This, however, it's not like I don't think Marvel should be in magic. Whatever. It's there. It's, It's. It's gonna happen. They're gonna make cool cards. This, however, is something that really fits in with, like, something like I want to do. Right. I want.
[01:10:07] Speaker B: It also fits into, like, the decks, right?
[01:10:09] Speaker A: Like, it does, like, the artificial artificer stuff.
[01:10:12] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:10:13] Speaker A: The big green Mikey.
There's just. There's the. The Agro Raphael and Casey Jones, to your point. Like, the thing is like, here's the thing, like, with the Spider man release, because it was supposed to be like Assassin's Creed, and they tried to expand it, but it's actually a very small set. Right. It's like 100 something cards. If that.
And if they do a full 200 something card release for Ninja Turtles, we don't know what's coming. Especially now that we've seen this multiverse, these multiverse cards. And I was just like. At first, I was like, are they picking one theme? You pointed out that they're not that you see these, these.
These mirage ones or these, these 80s turtles, and then we see these more modern ones and then their own take from what they. What they want to do. So I think it's really cool.
The product. The product line that they're releasing is pretty cool to. To, I guess, to the most part. I really kind of. I like that versus bundle, like the.
The bad guy bundle, where you. You and a friend team up against the villain deck, and you just play that way. That's a cool idea. Will I buy it? Probably not, because I want to buy other things.
The Pizza Land cards, that whole pizza bundle, of course, they've been doing collector bundles, so that's cool. But they're right. Those Pizza Lands are going to end up being kind of like a collector's thing because they look fun and they're neat. And I just like when they can expand on that kind of stuff and make artwork that doesn't make sense. But when they do it, it's. It's unique and it'll go in your deck. Like, why not?
And let's talk about the Commander. I mean, we thought there was going to be multiple commanders. I think the way they did it was smart.
[01:11:57] Speaker B: Yep. I think just to many points, like economically speaking it was smart too because you know what I mean? Like what do you do? A five deck, four brothers and then a shredder or something. And so handling it as one commander they throw in a bunch of the great cards in it.
Cool. Done.
[01:12:17] Speaker A: Bought it.
[01:12:17] Speaker B: Done.
[01:12:17] Speaker A: Make your own. Make your own commanders.
[01:12:20] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, you always do, which you always do. So couldn't be more than excited. We might be in the minority but I don't care. Chris, where can you find us?
[01:12:31] Speaker A: We're all over the interwebs at a little website called don't forget a towel dot com.
It's your place to travel geekly everywhere in the universe on the socials I guess. DFATent. It's DFATent Hashtag hashtag and multiple hashtags.
Awesome.
[01:12:52] Speaker B: This is Casey saying go out there as we talk about the entire show, go read your comics.
[01:12:59] Speaker A: And this is Chris saying Don't Forget a Towel.
