Episode Transcript
[00:00:03] Speaker A: Defect Entertainment.
Welcome to the latest episode of Towelite Talk. This is Chris, this is Casey, and we are here with a Texas Toast Thick episode of Towelite Talk.
We were supposed to do a show last week, but I was sick. And so I think it actually worked out because here we are in the midst of New York Comic Con 2026.
[00:00:41] Speaker B: Live in person, but from afar.
[00:00:45] Speaker A: We used to be. We used to do that kind of stuff.
[00:00:47] Speaker B: I cry every day.
[00:00:49] Speaker A: Yeah, it was before, you know, before the influencers, before the dark times.
[00:00:53] Speaker B: There you go.
[00:00:54] Speaker A: All those. All those good. All those good times we used to have. But, yeah, we're here. We're going to start geeking out because we got a big, big show for you today. And first things up, my friend. What are you. What have you been geeking out on?
[00:01:07] Speaker B: Magic. Which we will talk about, of course.
Spooky season. So I just saw Pan's Labyrinth, 20th anniversary in 3D, which was really good. And then I went and saw right after Was the Other Mommy, which was not good.
It was entertaining. It was just stupid. Just a stupid, silly movie. But if you haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth before, go see it, because it was worth it. I was like, oh, man, I forgot just how insanely good this movie is.
[00:01:43] Speaker A: Nice. Yeah, I've been. Yeah, those trails have been popping up in the theater every time I go. So I've been. My wife, like, likes that movie, actually, as much as she doesn't like creepy, scary stuff. So, yeah, maybe I'll do that. I also just got, you know, the movie club thing.
That was it. Cinemark. So I was supposed to go see Digger last week.
I wish I could have. So I could actually have my own opinion on it.
[00:02:05] Speaker B: But, yeah, I'm curious.
[00:02:08] Speaker A: You know, I got. You know, we got Street Fighter and Clayface coming up this month.
However, I. You know, for me, I just finished Lanterns, and if you don't watch that soon, I'm going to have to jump through the screen and kick you fair.
[00:02:23] Speaker B: Chun Li style.
[00:02:24] Speaker A: Yes, exactly. It was. It's great.
Do it.
I just beat Wolverine last night.
PlayStation 5 game.
Great, great, great stuff. I also finished Dungeon Crawler Carl Book 1. Look at me finishing things like I never do.
[00:02:42] Speaker B: It's crazy.
[00:02:43] Speaker A: Yeah, isn't it?
[00:02:44] Speaker B: Thank God you got sick.
[00:02:46] Speaker A: Yeah.
It's giving me a new life.
Yes, I've joined the cult of Carl. Yes, I bought all the books during Amazon. I bought the princess donut shirt. I am. I'm in, my friend. I'm in. Like, it's.
[00:03:03] Speaker B: It only Gets. It only gets better. I can't wait to geek out more with you.
[00:03:07] Speaker A: Yeah, it must.
But nonetheless, there's so much more stuff going on. But we're going to jump right into the show so that we can cover all this news.
First things up in Marvel News, we know the X Men movie is on its way from Marvel Studios, and we have Gen V's Asa Germain, I guess, cast as Angel. He looks like Worthington III to me, so I'm in no matter what for this movie.
[00:03:34] Speaker B: Yeah, he's good. I like him in Gen V. His character is pretty creepy and weird, but I think kid's got range, so I'm excited to see his eventual fall to Dark Angel.
[00:03:49] Speaker A: Right. I mean, starting right off with the Mr. Sinister will.
[00:03:53] Speaker B: I mean, you know. Yeah, it's good stuff.
[00:03:56] Speaker A: So next up, we got Daredevil. Born Again. Season three will be wrapping up that show.
There's no other way to say it. They talked about how it may have been a yearly show for a while, but I think this is a clean way to do it and then do other things, which I'm sure they'll do.
But we have the return of all the Defenders, as we've. As we saw at Comic Con, Sands Mike Couture, you know, so. But Danny Rand is back, and I'm really excited to see how what the take is 10 years later with Iron Wrist.
[00:04:35] Speaker B: I hope this was the tip of the iceberg. I really want to see Misty Knight. I really want to see Colleen Wing. Mike Coulter just started. Started a new show like on CBS or something. So, like, I hope they got him for a cameo, but he's been one of the ones who's been, like, the most busy, so.
Yeah, we'll see.
[00:04:53] Speaker A: I mean, he. They said he's there and he was at the end.
[00:04:57] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Sorry, I didn't watch that.
[00:04:59] Speaker A: Yeah, no, it's all the Defenders, and he was okay. Oh, he's. So you watched second season, so that's not a spoiler for you. So, I mean, he shows up and then they actually mentioned, like, a Heroes for Hire arc during this season. So that's what I would like to see as a Heroes for Hire show. Spin out of maybe. That is. Yeah. Or miniseries, mini or whatever.
[00:05:21] Speaker B: You know, Whatever.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: Yeah, that'd be great.
Vision Quest drops this week on the 14th.
Can't wait. I need another show to be watching.
This one's going to be dropping two episodes a week until the last two episodes, which will drop an episode each. This wraps up the whole WandaVision trilogy. That we've, you know, Agatha, that whole storyline leading into, I guess. I guess, doomsday.
[00:05:50] Speaker B: So we'll see, I guess, right?
[00:05:54] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:55] Speaker B: You know what I mean? Like, is it Darkhold stuff?
Like, because it's just at this point, unless it's West Coast Avengers, which I doubt it is.
Like, what are you doing with those people? You know what I mean? We know the secret wars is coming.
So what's. What's this world look like from a dark side? Because I feel like, especially with the news we're going to talk about, like, they're kind of going in these directions.
[00:06:22] Speaker A: I mean, you kind of have to, like, with doom being magical and mystical, what are you doing after Doctor Strange 2?
All of this stuff, like, are you just gonna let us, you know, what you've done before and just let it hang out to dry? Who knows? So I'm pumped. This show looks trippy. It looks. It looks fun.
So I'm sure. I'm looking forward to it.
Some Spider man news from the dark side of Spider man, literally noir got canceled.
I. I was enjoying it. I didn't finish it, so maybe it's my fault. But got canceled. Then one of the bunch of Emmys. So I don't really understand what Amazon does. Decides make money.
Yes.
[00:07:07] Speaker B: Well, did you see that interview with Nicholas Cage?
[00:07:11] Speaker A: The one where he's like, wwe? Is Marvel Universe like that one?
[00:07:15] Speaker B: No, the one where he says that they were pushing for an AI contract and he said, I'm not doing it. So honestly, I think that's what it was, is that he was like, I'm not going to sign the contract where you say, you can use me for AI. He was like, I'll probably not work for that studio again. Wow.
I bet you that is the reason.
[00:07:37] Speaker A: That's a good reason.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: It is a very great reason. So they can go screw themselves, especially after winning all these Emmys.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Well, the next piece of news means that the clone saga that they announced was made completely out of AI which makes sense because it's probably the worst Spider man story of all time.
[00:08:00] Speaker B: I think it's just. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what to say. With stupid Sony doing what they do without being under Marvel, it's just ridiculous.
[00:08:11] Speaker A: It's like throwing darts at a wall without a bullseye on there. Exactly. Just the wall.
Next up, Marvel Zombies, which was awesome. The animated show that spun out a what if? Is going to be getting some animated specials. Three of them, to be precise. Called one called the Winter Soldier, one called The Last Guardian and 1. The Fist of Khonshu.
[00:08:36] Speaker B: Okay, okay, I'm. These make me excited. It's weird that they're like a year apart. Like 27, 28, 29.
But at the same time, like, I really like that world. I love that animation style. They really did knock it out of the park with what if? And that stuff. So bring it. Especially now that we're getting more Moon Knight.
[00:08:59] Speaker A: Yeah, no, for sure.
Because it was like Blade.
That Blade variant had gotten the. The Moon Knight thing, you know, so it's like. That was a cool concept from that with these being specials. I mean, they're like mini movies, basically. So I'll take them.
[00:09:15] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:09:15] Speaker A: A year.
[00:09:16] Speaker B: Yeah, sure.
[00:09:17] Speaker A: So X Men 97, Season 3, which technically should be X Men 99 by now.
Can't wait.
Deadpool will be showing up.
[00:09:30] Speaker B: Sure, why not? You know, whatever. I mean, you already have X Force like that. Okay. Yes, bring it down.
[00:09:37] Speaker A: One of the. One of the greatest things of that second season was the X Force intro.
[00:09:41] Speaker B: Yes.
X Factor.
[00:09:45] Speaker A: But they didn't. They didn't do the X Factor intro though. But having X Factor was great. Oh, when they actually made opening.
[00:09:51] Speaker B: Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes. No, that was badass. That was badass.
[00:09:55] Speaker A: Yes, that was very smart.
Next up, we have a mysterious new liveaction show coming to Disney plus called Zodiac, which eludes the SHIELD stuff, which gets people talking about eighth of the SHIELD and Coulson and when will Nick Fury come back? Nick Fury disappeared after the crappy secret invasion show that nobody liked and went into hiding, literally. And now I. You know what, man? I. A lot of people have been questioned. I read the actress that played Daisy, you know, was always kind of upset about how it was never canon and stuff like that. So what do you. What do you think this is? This is going to be a spy show?
Will they. Will they bring back agents? The shield? Will they, I think, do something?
[00:10:44] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Because they need these things. They need some nostalgia factors to get people back because there's TV shows, like, they just were really hit or miss. Like Daredevil is a full on hit. You know what I mean? And there was parts of Winter Soldier that I love. There's parts of Hawkeye that I love. You know what I mean? Like, there was definitely some things. The Secret invasion, no echo. Forgettable, you know what I mean? Like Moon Knight, cool, but didn't reach full potential. So like they just kind of started and stopped. And so hopefully this is a way to kind of like bridge the gap of like that SHIELD Universe, which is never gone from Marvel ever.
[00:11:23] Speaker A: Right, right. And should be explored in TV format. Yes.
[00:11:29] Speaker B: It's a long form storytelling, for sure.
[00:11:31] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, No, I agree. I agree. I just, you know, the whole thing about when they used to. Even. Even the. When the Netflix shows were on and they didn't want to like, make them full canon, you know, oh, there was an alien invasion. That's all we can talk about, you know?
[00:11:46] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, that's it.
[00:11:47] Speaker A: So.
And still. Still doing it in like, Spider man movie where they can't talk about Wilson Fisk being mayor, but you can show that lady, you know? Yeah. So odd stuff.
Next up, big announcement out of New York Comic Con was that the next Universes beyond set and Marvel set for magic will be called the Darkhold Destiny, which will feature an original story, a new character being developed as a comic for Marvel.
And this is going to go into the dark side, Midnight sun side, mystical side of. Of. Of the universe.
But what really gets me about this is a full, full release. I mean, we already see the. The. The four Commanders.
You know, it's a big set coming out, but the fact that they are doing this as kind of an original thing is. Is. Is what I've kind of envisioned since the beginning. Because Spider man sucked, though.
[00:12:49] Speaker B: We are getting another commander set.
What of Spider Man? A Jeskai Commander set with just Spider Man. Spider Man. Gwen and Miles are on the COVID of it where it's supposed to be like an exclusive drop just randomly coming out. I saw a picture of it.
[00:13:07] Speaker A: That's what I'm saying.
It just. And even the Marvel set, which was okay, but just to have something that is, like, has something of a center to it. Right? Yeah. Is like. Is being built out by the magic people as a story. They sh.
[00:13:23] Speaker B: They.
[00:13:24] Speaker A: They shopped out five, whatever characters to Marvel and Marvel got to pick one to make the original comic out of. Like, this is the kind of, like, interaction and new storytelling that makes it more interesting than just some Universes beyond set.
[00:13:38] Speaker B: A thousand percent. Yeah.
Everybody that I have seen, you know, influencers or whatever from the magic community, everyone seems excited about this. Like, this is the way that you should have handled it. These are the characters that, you know, you and I had complained about not seeing in the original set. And so this will be another hit to the Wallet.
[00:14:01] Speaker A: Yes.
It's already began to be. So it's okay.
[00:14:06] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:14:06] Speaker A: Which is okay. So. Okay. That's why I work and don't.
[00:14:10] Speaker B: This is it.
[00:14:10] Speaker A: That's why I don't go out my addictions are cardboard.
Next up. Yeah, so that drops April 2027, right?
[00:14:21] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:14:21] Speaker A: So, yeah, so look forward to that. Next up, we got some Indiana Jones variants in Marvel Comics.
It's indie, like, exploring the world and finding these different, you know, artifacts from the Marvel Universe, from the Thor's hammer to the Infinity Gauntlet and more. So these are fun. Different artists are doing them. They're going to start dropping in November, which will also. I'm sorry. Over.
Yes.
[00:14:53] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:14:53] Speaker A: In November. Yep. I'm sorry. I'm also looking at this reprint of the Further Adventures of Indiana Jones Number one.
[00:14:58] Speaker B: No, you're good. Yeah.
[00:14:59] Speaker A: So, yeah, yeah, a lot of cool stuff is coming from that. Oh, no, I'm sorry. The kicking off in February.
So that's it.
[00:15:06] Speaker B: Perfect.
[00:15:07] Speaker A: Yep.
Awesome.
Next up, we have an awesome. This is the one. This is the one comic. There's a lot of stuff that was not announced at Comic Con.
They're like, oh, these number ones, like these ongoings. Now this. This is what caught my eye.
This miniseries. Magneto. End of Days by Brian Michael Bendis and Andrea Sorrencino.
Again, teaming up. One of the best team ups, I think, in comics. One of my favorites.
[00:15:38] Speaker B: Same.
[00:15:39] Speaker A: It's going to be an eight issue limited series, and it follows the life and legacy of Magneto, with each issue revealing around a different chapter of his journey. So, awesome.
Yeah.
[00:15:51] Speaker B: Old man Magneto. Cannot wait.
[00:15:56] Speaker A: Let's jump across the pond to DC News.
Did you didn't watch Night Nightfall yet, did you?
[00:16:03] Speaker B: I'm gonna do a. I just. I want to watch it all in one go.
[00:16:06] Speaker A: Yeah, like.
[00:16:07] Speaker B: Or at least like over several days. Like, I don't want to wait months at a time. So I'm waiting.
[00:16:12] Speaker A: Yeah, I can hear you.
We just got the Night Quest trailer.
I did watch Nightfall. It's okay. It's good. I liked it.
It's. It's. I mean, it's a brief telling of, you know, 15 issues or whatever, you know, so it does its job and it is brutal and it's good. So I'm looking forward to the next, you know, next chapter and, of course, the third chapter as well.
[00:16:37] Speaker B: Cannot wait.
[00:16:40] Speaker A: I bought my ticket for Clayface comes out your birthday weekend.
I'm not watching this final trailer. I'm not watching anything else for it.
I'm looking forward to it. They're like, Mike Flanagan was like, you know, I wrote the script, but I handed it over. Which is fine with me, too, because I just. I'm looking forward. Who. Who ended up being the final Writer. Actual writer for it or what he had done.
[00:17:04] Speaker B: I don't remember. Yeah. But I listen, I trust Mike Flanagan and you know, we've got more Flanagan news to talk about throughout this, but yeah, Hosan Amini. Yeah, it's most. Yeah, that's it.
It's not.
Or maybe it's Hussein. Could be Hussein. I mean, we're good at name show here.
We're throwing around horrible names, but nothing like even that guy isn't a super big.
He wrote Drive, which I love. He wrote Snowman and the Hut, Snow White and the Huntsman, which I love. So, like he's gotten some things under his belt.
Some Obi Wan stuff as well he worked on. So we'll see.
[00:17:49] Speaker A: Yeah. Yep, yep, yep. Sweet. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
It's a really interesting next like step for the DC universe.
[00:18:00] Speaker B: It is, yeah.
[00:18:02] Speaker A: People have been begging for a Clayface movie, so I have.
Last up in D.C. news, the absolute universe expands in 2027 with a five event issue or event series called Abso.
I'm sorry, written by Jason Aaron. It's going to be called Absolute Justice.
You know, this is cool. It's going to bring together all of the characters that have been getting their own little series already. Absolute Universe has been very popular, so it only makes sense that we are getting the Justice League.
[00:18:37] Speaker B: Yeah, I, I love this. And it also said like, there's no forced tie ins, which I appreciate that you don't have to read a million issues to catch up to what is going to happen in this world. And I like that they're continuing to expand it. Obviously we love Jason Aaron, so.
[00:18:54] Speaker A: Yes, absolutely, absolutely.
Let's jump over to that galaxy far, far away. We got some Star wars news.
Jon Watts, Spider man director, created Skeleton Crew, did Skeleton Crew teaming up with Simon Kinberg to write the newest trilogy that will be the next story of in the Skywalker saga.
Fine, give it to John Watts. I don't care. I. I like Skeleton Crew. Do I need more Skywalker? Probably not, but it's coming.
Probably.
[00:19:27] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe, right? There's been so many starts and stops. Listen, I'm not saying not to go forward in Star wars. You should. But I think as a collective group of fans, I think we were good. Like, at least I feel that way. Obviously you can show me something and it might blow my mind. And you know, I'm like, oh shit, I was wrong. I did need more Skywalker stories. But like, you know, right now I'm cool with Starfighter. I'm cool if you went back to the past. I'm cool with what you're about to do in Ahsoka news. We'll talk about that. But like, I don't care about more Skywalkers.
The whole galaxy can't revolve around one family.
[00:20:11] Speaker A: No.
Numb. Especially when you.
When you killed off their kid.
It was okay in the books when he had like, the Solo Skywalker family going down the line, you just. You made some weird decisions about killing off Kylo Ren. Yes. And when he was. Could have been a great character. Probably.
Who cares? It was the same goddamn story. But you could have. Well, I mean, he would have been alive and not dead anyway. I'm gonna shut up now. Yeah. Next up, we 70 millimeter. This is not a Star wars show. The 70 millimeter. A new Hope and Starfighter. So the. For the 50th release of New Hope, we're gonna 70 millimeter release for a New Hope, which I love to be going and seeing and on the big screen. And of course, Starfighter. I mean, it's like you said, this is.
This is where Star wars should be heading into a new undiscovered realm, you know, years out.
And, you know, I'm excited for that. So same Looking forward.
[00:21:15] Speaker B: Yeah. See both.
[00:21:18] Speaker A: As you mentioned, Ahsoka Season 2 is on its way early 2027.
This is what I've heard. I've heard it's weird, which is awesome. I'm good with that. And the Mortis gods are going to be featured in it as well.
[00:21:33] Speaker B: Listen, Rebel Season six. Can't wait.
[00:21:36] Speaker A: Exactly. Exactly. Or seven. Right. Is it.
[00:21:40] Speaker B: They ended up four, five, and then. Yeah, I mean, he's in it. What's his name? I mean, he's back. He's got a comic.
Ahsoka comic. Like, why am I losing his name?
[00:21:53] Speaker A: The Return of Ezra Bridger.
[00:21:54] Speaker B: Yeah, there we go. Thank you.
[00:21:58] Speaker A: But as Casey mentioned. Yes. So we're getting a little tie in. Comic of it was called Ezra Brizz.
I'm gonna learn how to use English words.
[00:22:10] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:22:10] Speaker A: Ahsoka. Escape from Thrawn featuring Ezra Bridger and how he escaped, you know, as we know, shows up in Ahsoka. So all the backstory to how that happened.
Looking forward to it.
Yo. Yep. I haven't. I haven't seen a good Star wars comic that I wanted to read in a while.
And this is same. Yeah, this will be one.
Next up, we know Star Wars D D is on its way. We got some big updates from that.
First off, there's going to be two Source books apparently Star Wars Core rulebook and the Tyro Squadron adventures arrive in 2027.
Another universe is beyond for D and D is there. They're kind of calling it.
What do you think about this? This is Star Wars 5e taken over by D and D.
[00:23:03] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, and that's it. You know there's something to be said sometimes about when the fans do take hold of things and perfect what was done. Dave Filoni being example of it in an official way. But like I don't know, I don't know how they're going to make it better. Like sure they'll have pre built campaigns and blah blah. But like they did pretty painstaking process in 5e to make it seamless. And you know, I don't know if any of you guys listen, have played Star Wars 5e but you know it came out around Covid times and it got us through Covid in many ways. So yeah, this is interesting. I.
I'm gonna have to read some reviews, you know, before I want to go and invest in it. But it is coolish that we're getting it.
[00:23:51] Speaker A: Absolutely, absolutely. And then last up in the news is we know that Kevin Smith is writing a Marvel Star wars crossover, but there's some more details to this.
First off, it's been extended to six issues, which I'm surprised it wasn't six issues at least to begin with. It's kind of weird, but it will be canon to the Marvel comics universe, which is like this weird incursion where a new hope, the events of a new hope crash into the Marvel universe and they have to deal with it.
We've got some first looks at it from Comic Con, some interior looks, some cover looks, and also a really neat initiative by LEGO in Star Wars.
Like a fan, a fan contest, which is.
It's going to be a competition in honor of this crossover and fans are encouraged to build their own Star wars and Marvel themed crossover sets across three categories. Vehicles, characters and scenes. So you can submit now and then fan voting starts on December 8th. Winning designs will then become eligible to have their creations made into an official LEGO set.
Awesome.
[00:25:05] Speaker B: That may be the best piece of news of this. Like it being canon is curious how that is.
[00:25:12] Speaker A: Like it's a multiverse.
[00:25:14] Speaker B: I don't know. Yeah, yeah, I guess the covers are cool. Alex Ross.
[00:25:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:20] Speaker B: Luke and Spider Man. I mean, sorry, Take my money again, like, and there's a cover they didn't. It's not in that. But like it's Vader versus Hulk which seems Just a cool Face off idea. So, yeah, it's a thing that's happening.
[00:25:37] Speaker A: It's a thing.
And it's happening starting on January 13, 27. So stay tuned.
We're going to jump over to the other galaxy, the more realistic galaxy, and we have a Dr. Crusher comic coming our way.
This will be actually written by Gates McFadden and it's called Crusher, surprisingly.
What do you think?
[00:26:03] Speaker B: Hey, cool. You know what I mean? Like, listen, I don't know these situations when a celebrity who isn't a writer comes in and tries to take over in writing. Like with JJ's kid taking over Spider Man. Sometimes I almost feel like it's just like this weird Nepo cash grab. It's not like, who did one that was like, really good. I'm just trying to. I'm blinking, but we'll see. You know what I mean? Like, it's not what I was gonna say. Jonathan.
[00:26:37] Speaker A: Oh, fricks Number two.
[00:26:39] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, he's clearly in the world. He's directed episodes. He's written episodes. Like that guy.
[00:26:44] Speaker A: Movies.
[00:26:45] Speaker B: Movies, Right. If he. Yeah. If you told me he's writing a comic, I'll go, yeah, that makes sense to me. And it's not to say she doesn't know the character more than anyone. She does. So we'll see how it goes.
[00:26:58] Speaker A: Also, we gotta see how Jack Crusher was born. So fair. So, I mean, this is gonna bridge the time between Nemesis and the Picard show. So it has a little spot in canon. That needs to be told, I guess. I don't know.
What does need to be told is this next one. And you're like, why did it take Timothy Zahn so long to write a Star Trek? Anything?
I have the same question, Casey.
I don't know. Because he had the Endless Thrawn stories and other things. So Timothy Zion will write his first Star Trek story in graphic novel form.
It's called Star Trek Rocks Egg. And it takes place in my favorite little sector of Star Trek called Deep Space Nine.
So very cool.
Angel Hernandez is on art.
I don't know. This is interesting. It's in a graphic novel form.
[00:27:53] Speaker B: Honestly, I think it's good to get. This is his first little foray.
And I'm sure if you get Zahn, just like you get Jason Aaron for dc, just like you get whoever, they'll lock him in for a few years. So this is probably just the tip of the iceberg. And that gets me excited.
[00:28:15] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, he says he's been a trucker for Years, as he says right here, all the way back to the original series.
Good. Excellent.
We love some Timothy Zahn around here. He's a great science fiction writer outside even Star wars, so I'm sure it'll be really cool.
All right, next up in Crowd Sorcery, this first one, the Final Fantasy Origins of Light board game.
I know that it's gonna drop soon. It's right now you can wish list it. It's gonna cover the first three games and you know, I'll be buying this.
[00:28:54] Speaker B: Yeah, this.
This just sounds cool.
It's a neat idea to play through the first three games in board game form.
I.
I like it. I think it's very smart. So I'm sure it'll make a ton of money.
[00:29:08] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, exactly.
And then also next up, we have the one ring tabletop RPG.
Right now it's. It asked for $50,000. It's at $2,720,000. 10,000 plus backers. Four days left.
[00:29:27] Speaker B: So this is the thing. One free league has been making insane games forever. They did the alien one, They've done Blade Runners.
[00:29:36] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:37] Speaker B: They've just. In so many great games. So like. And it's endorsed by Middle Earth Enterprises, so it's quote unquote, you know, like endorsed by Tolkien.
This is it. Like, I understand why it made so much money. And it's gonna be. This, to me is better than even Star Wars Dungeons and Dragons. Like, this is like, okay, this is gonna be insane.
[00:29:59] Speaker A: Well, I also like about what these that company does is it makes its own systems kind of for each game.
[00:30:04] Speaker B: Right.
[00:30:05] Speaker A: They're different. So. Yeah, yeah. So that's awesome.
[00:30:10] Speaker B: You play it solo.
[00:30:12] Speaker A: Well, that's the thing about these games too. It's like the. I bought the Fallout Source book for the solo play of it, which is also makes sense because it's a solo game.
[00:30:22] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:30:24] Speaker A: Like, as much as these games are like, yeah, go and play with people, it's a social thing. They're also making it very accessible for just people who just want to play the game anyways, so board games, like even the Dungeon crawler Carl stuff, that some of that is, is one player stuff. So.
[00:30:44] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly.
[00:30:46] Speaker A: If you love Usagi Yujimbo like I do and Stan Sakai, then you'll want to get on this. I've already signed up and put my dollar down so I could get the special print.
This is a brand new book. It's coming to Kickstarter. It's collecting over 200 pieces of art by Sakai.
Beautiful showcase Book with all of his iconic work through his journey through comics.
Love it. Like I said, put your email address in there, put your dollar down, you get a beautiful print as part of your.
As part of your pledge.
And this will be hitting Kickstarter real soon.
[00:31:25] Speaker B: Yeah, beautiful. 200 pages of just beauty.
[00:31:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah. And we'll talk about another Stan Sakai's thing coming up too. But first, Casey, what. What time is.
[00:31:38] Speaker B: Is the time for pursuit of plastic.
[00:31:44] Speaker A: Very excited, as you can tell.
Always some good news coming out of, you know, New York Comic Con as far as toys go. And there's going to be.
There's a lot more out there. So go look at the pictures online.
This dropped a little bit before, but we'll be getting some alien Earth NECA toys, of course. I mean, NECA's been doing the alien series since time began and they only look better and better.
[00:32:11] Speaker B: Yep. Yeah. I mean, this is. I was actually just talking about this series, like when is the next episode, you know, season, like. Yeah, yeah. I thought the alien was a really cool design.
[00:32:22] Speaker A: Really brutal.
[00:32:24] Speaker B: Yeah, this is great. Fantastic.
[00:32:26] Speaker A: Yeah. Just give me that sheep.
[00:32:29] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. That plushie's so cute.
[00:32:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
Next up, one of my favorite things from GI Joe are the dreadnocks and their Thunder Machine. So right now, this isn't even crowdsourced. This is just get your pre arrow on for the classified sized Thunder Machine. Very cool.
Drive around, you collect that stuff. So it's great.
[00:32:55] Speaker B: I don't know if it's $124 great, but it is great.
[00:32:59] Speaker A: I mean, it's 6 inch scale. It is. You know, so yeah, that's the thing. It's not like it's the four inch figures. It's the big, big. The big boy.
[00:33:08] Speaker B: It's just like if you can give me a castle Grayskull for 79. Like, are you kidding me?
[00:33:13] Speaker A: I doubt you can't anymore.
[00:33:15] Speaker B: Yeah, well, never mind.
[00:33:18] Speaker A: Before the dark times, right?
[00:33:20] Speaker B: I gotcha.
[00:33:21] Speaker A: You know. Yeah.
I was always kind of wondering what Playmates was doing next after Ninja Turtles and all that stuff.
Well, guess what? They're doing Dungeon Crawler Carl and I actually was able to pre order Carl before it sold out.
So. Very happy.
[00:33:39] Speaker B: It's. You can get it at Hot Topic. I've seen people online picking it up.
Oh, it's, you know.
[00:33:46] Speaker A: Yeah, they're out now, right? Yeah, they're dropping.
[00:33:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:49] Speaker B: So you can. You can find them at a local Hot Topic near you.
I do hope another, you know, some other people get the license Like, I like obviously for the price and blah
[00:34:03] Speaker A: blah, blah, blah, blah.
[00:34:04] Speaker B: But I just want to see a little bit better articulation and sculpting and
[00:34:09] Speaker A: you'll get it shocked.
[00:34:10] Speaker B: Neca didn't get it.
[00:34:11] Speaker A: So you'll get, you'll get more.
[00:34:13] Speaker B: We will, we will.
[00:34:14] Speaker A: I mean, there's blind bags, all of this stuff.
[00:34:17] Speaker B: Like, oh, it's just the tip of the Carl iceberg.
[00:34:20] Speaker A: Yeah. I went to this, I went to this thing called a mall yesterday.
I don't know if you guys have seen those before.
And I'm just like, why aren't. Why is. Why doesn't Spencer's and Gamestop and all these places have merch yet? And it's coming.
[00:34:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:34:36] Speaker A: And it's gonna be, we're gonna be like inundated with that kind of stuff soon once it really hits, especially the TV show. So.
[00:34:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:34:46] Speaker A: It's only. It's only begun.
So Walmart Collector Con is, is happening I think as we speak.
But cool enough. Is this Stan Sakai? Oh, we have more Stan Sakai news.
You get a Usagi Ujimbo and Leonardo two pack. The figures are, have already been released because they released them single form and also that four pack not too long ago. Yeah, this is a special, like seasonal box. You can get all four seasons of the same figures but in different box art. Very cool. Very limited.
[00:35:27] Speaker B: Very cool.
[00:35:30] Speaker A: Next up, we got some LEGO news.
Lego's doing this cool mock up of the Jock Joker cover that's so popular.
I like this kind of art stuff that they've been doing. And this is a really neat way to do it.
[00:35:46] Speaker B: I'll be buying this. I mean, I love Jock. I love that cover and just they really went crazy with that design. I think it's better than the Spider man one that they did. It's just a really well done Lego piece. And so it's all art.
[00:36:02] Speaker A: I love it.
Yeah, exactly. Buildable art. Yeah, interactive.
Another little piece of buildable art is this Marvel skyline. I always thought the skyline stuff was cool. And the buildings they do and stuff like that. This is cool. All the, like the Marvel New York City skyline, you know, the Avengers building, all that stuff, including like a little Galactus walking around, a little Spider man swinging around. Like this is the kind of thing that I would get, you know, for cool display.
[00:36:33] Speaker B: I definitely like it. I, I don't love it. I, I guess I want it bigger. I don't know. Like in Galactus is not ever going to be that tiny. So I, I like it. I I like the idea behind it, but it to me felt like if you're going to do something like this, and this is a good price point, it's like a hundred bucks.
I want the bigger. Give me the 400 version of this thing, then go.
[00:37:02] Speaker A: Then go buy the main, the actual
[00:37:04] Speaker B: view and buy the building.
[00:37:06] Speaker A: Do that for yourself.
[00:37:08] Speaker B: Hundred dollars. You're right.
[00:37:09] Speaker A: Go build yourself a table.
I want it to sit right here.
[00:37:14] Speaker B: Yeah, it's fair. Like I said, it's a good price point. It's a good way to get people to get it. Yeah, they're smart and they are always smart.
[00:37:22] Speaker A: Absolutely, absolutely.
Speaking of smart, the Nacelle people have done this really cool little crossover between their cool biker Mice from Mars line that they've been doing. Now they're doing a little Judge Dredd homage figure.
And it's. It's cool as hell. I love it.
[00:37:43] Speaker B: It's very neat. It's a neat little crossover. And. And so talk about things. You know, Nacelle would have killed Carl because of this. You know what I mean? And maybe they still will, but this is really a great way to do it. And it looks awesome.
[00:37:58] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
All right, let's jump over the comic and book book news.
First up, Highlander Number one. It comes out in December.
This is basically the screenplay how they've been doing this kind of thing, like with Alien 3 and different things like that.
[00:38:21] Speaker B: So, yeah,
[00:38:24] Speaker A: I'm happy for this. This is fine. This is from Gregory Wyden 4 issue with Art by Seisman Kogransky.
I've already. Already pre ordered my issue for this.
I'll be buying this for the cool. And you actually, actually get the virgin cover of it for same price. So I did that, which is very rare. You can do that. You know, I'm a big Highlander man. I mean.
[00:38:50] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, I think it's a cool idea for sure. And I think, you know, we've got a Highlander movie coming out next year, so, like, let's get the hype train going a bit.
[00:39:02] Speaker A: Right, Right.
Boom. Studios doing something kind of crazy.
If you're like, if you remember, something is killing the children. Well, guess who's killing children now, Swamp Thing.
In a world where the fears of children manifest the living, breathing monsters, this crossover brings one of horror's most iconic characters straight to the slaughter. Verse.
This was announced, this is saying in last. Last year's Comic Con.
Now they've. I did not know that. I did not know this was.
[00:39:37] Speaker B: I didn't know we. Sorry, we didn't say anything. Yeah, you're right.
[00:39:42] Speaker A: But however, it's coming out in December 2nd, the covers are out. You can pre order it.
Yeah, I. I don't even know what to say about this. This is such a wild idea. It's written by Tinian, illustrated by Werther J. Adara.
Neat idea, weird idea.
[00:40:01] Speaker B: Both things are true.
Absolutely.
[00:40:07] Speaker A: We've been getting some Magic the Gathering comics lately and the latest that we'll be hitting was a 12 part series dropping in 2027.
It's going to feature.
Who is that? Teferi the faerie. Yes.
So, yeah, more. More stuff to tie into your card playing extravaganzas.
[00:40:31] Speaker B: Yeah, I think, you know, Hasbro announced that magic made them over a billion dollars. And so this is the tip of the iceberg. We're getting an adult animated series, maybe a live action series. You know, they're running really good with the cards, obviously, like we talked about. So.
Yeah, keep it, keep it going.
[00:40:52] Speaker A: Don't stop.
From the Last Ronin universe, we're going to be getting the first Ronin, which is good by Stan Sakai. As I mentioned earlier with artist Suli.
This is a neat idea. Honestly. It's not going to be mutants, it's going to be yokai.
And so little Japanese monsters will be the ninjas or whatever in this story.
So I'm interested to see where this goes. Honestly, it's a cool idea.
[00:41:26] Speaker B: This is a great idea.
[00:41:27] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:41:28] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, I'll be buying this. That's so cool.
[00:41:32] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. And also you got the final chapter of Last Ronin coming soon. So true. Yeah, good stuff, good stuff.
Just little. Couple little things here. We've. Grant Morrison will be writing James Bond for idw.
That's awesome. I'll read that.
[00:41:50] Speaker B: Yeah, they did a cool little intro again. We're getting more Bond. Like they. They know who the actor is. They have not announced who it is yet. So like, I don't know if this will tie into that because Amazon is Amazon or if this is like a whole different thing, but either way, you know, I like Morrison. I love James Bond. It just makes sense.
[00:42:14] Speaker A: Yeah, it's a. It's a pyramid in heaven.
Next up we have IDW Dark and Blumhouse.
They announced some titles that will be like from the. From their movie Verse, right? What?
[00:42:27] Speaker B: Yeah. So, yeah, Megan, Happy Death Day and the Purge are all getting.
This is for the IDW horror imprint. IDW Dark.
And so there's some other stuff, you know, exorcism at 1600 pen. Like there's other things that are coming out from that label. But this to me just made sense to kind of give these two franchises something.
[00:42:53] Speaker A: Yeah, no, that's great.
And speaking of spin out imprints, Skybound has announced Skybound Visions, which will be more like single character centric from like, let's see, we got like Turok is actually coming, which is kind of cool because we have a new game coming up that we'll be getting like a Bumblebee series.
Let's see. Dr.
Mindbender.
Yeah, really kind of neat idea here to take single characters from the, from those universes. Especially if this is like. I think Skybound is kind of covering Energon and regular GI Joe. So I'm not sure if it's going to be like Energon tied in for like the Transformers GI Joe stuff. So we'll see.
[00:43:44] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll see.
[00:43:48] Speaker A: I just, I just saw this this morning. I. And luckily before I. We started the show. But there's a new comic coming from Brian K. Vaughn and Cliff Chang, two of our favorites here. It's going to be called Rowan.
[00:44:01] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:44:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:44:02] Speaker B: Is this the one that's like Power Rangers?
[00:44:05] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Did we talk about this?
[00:44:09] Speaker B: I just found out about it actually. Darius sent this to me yesterday.
He was like, why don't we start writing Power Rangers?
But yeah, you know, those two worked on Paper Girls together and that was really great.
The artwork, whatever. It's just those two. I'll read anything they do together. So that's all.
[00:44:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I Love, I love 50 page,
[00:44:31] Speaker B: first issue in February.
[00:44:33] Speaker A: That's crazy.
[00:44:35] Speaker B: Well, read this next thing. Or I can read it.
[00:44:38] Speaker A: Why don't you? It'll warm me up for the second half of the show.
[00:44:41] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, right. So last thing in comic book news, I again just saw it just popped up, Dungeons and Dragons, Dark sun, which comes out in April from Dan Abnett. And this is going to be a 56 page hardcover that is about a team of anti heroes, including a gladiator and a cannibal who has to fight across and survive the wasteland.
Heck yes.
[00:45:06] Speaker A: Sounds like a good footy comedy.
[00:45:08] Speaker B: And miniatures are coming out too. So whatever this new area is, maybe it will be a set, you know what I mean? Or within the Dungeons and Dragons universe. But this sounds cool. I like the idea of it a lot. And yeah, count us in.
[00:45:25] Speaker A: We're in. And we're also in for a commercial break because like I said, this is a thick episode. So come back for more towel. I talk after this commercial break.

[00:46:06] Speaker B: There the bugger is. She's a big one, ain't she?
[00:46:09] Speaker A: Oy. Over 20 points of articulation, great sculpting. And look at the paint job on her.
[00:46:16] Speaker B: We've been looking all over for this one. Let's get him enough sights and end this hunt now.
All right, all right.
[00:46:24] Speaker A: Steady, steady now.
[00:46:27] Speaker B: Got em.
[00:46:29] Speaker A: It's the pursuit of plastic.
[00:46:31] Speaker B: Listen to the podcast from the creators of don'tforgetatodel.com Geek out about toy news, hunting and histories on your favorite collectibles.

So as you're hitchhiking your way through the universe, don't forget to travel safe and don't forget a towel.
[00:47:10] Speaker B: We are back after those luscious commercials and we're gonna jump into something kind of weird. So it's been 30 years since we saw Trick or Treat, and while we eagerly await Trick or Treat two.
[00:47:25] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:47:25] Speaker B: Which isn't happening. Michael Dougherty is doing some other things to continue the franchise and he's going to be doing the soul of Halloween.
It's going to be a lot of different multimedia ways of like, continuing that universe, including animated shorts, illustrations, short films, artist collaboration, and other things to kind of like bring about the Trick or Treat verse, I guess, for lack of a better term.
[00:47:58] Speaker A: So technically, trick or treat 2.
Yeah.
[00:48:01] Speaker B: Trick or treat 1.5.
Yeah, yeah, basically same thing. So listen, I'm not going to complain. That's one of my favorite movies of all time. I watch it every Halloween season. I've got toys and everything else. So like, it's cool. Just give us more.
[00:48:20] Speaker A: Awesome. Yeah, absolutely. I agree.
[00:48:22] Speaker B: Can't wait.
And then before we get totally into streaming news, we got a couple of big announcements, including Sega and Netflix's kind of deal that they've started together. And their first project will be a film adaption of Crazy Taxi written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who wrote the Naked Gun reboot.
This is going to be a thing. I mean, I love those games. I don't know what this means.
[00:48:57] Speaker A: Just Go with it. Sounds great.
[00:48:59] Speaker B: Yeah, no, you're right. Exactly. And so we're getting more Sonic the Hedgehog and another movie based on the action adventure game Stranger Than Heaven, which I never played before.
[00:49:12] Speaker A: Me neither. I have wanted to. I know I have it.
So. So they're going to take Sonic away from Paramount.
[00:49:22] Speaker B: I don't think so, because there is already a Sonic show that is a Netflix show. Okay. And so it's like a kids one and it's gotten a couple seasons so far, so that has been there. And we've got Devil May Cry, which has got the anime. So this is just a further kind of development of the overall deal, I think.
[00:49:43] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah.
[00:49:45] Speaker B: So we'll see what else comes.
And then finally we are getting closer to the Paramount and Warner Brothers big deal. It's supposed to be finishing Conglomeration. The Conglomeration.
And they'll be calling it just Skydance, which has been around for that name, has been around as a production studio for a very long time. Skydance itself has earned more than $8.7 billion at the box office, including things like Tom Cruise has got days of Thunder 2 coming out, which is weird.
You know, there's got more Jack Ryan, stuff from John Krasinski, the Atom project.
Ryan Reynolds has been doing stuff. So it's nothing new as far as the projects go. But just how it's all coming under this umbrella and probably potentially just erupting Hollywood forever.
[00:50:43] Speaker A: Yeah, just that.
Yeah, I don't like it, but what can we do?
[00:50:49] Speaker B: Yeah, that's it.
[00:50:50] Speaker A: I know what I'm going to do.
[00:50:52] Speaker B: What are you doing, Chris?
[00:50:53] Speaker A: I'm going to not subscribe to this next thing. The hbo, Max, Paramount plus, baby. Um, whatever that is. I'll just not subscribe to it. It's like I don't subscribe to Paramount Plus. So.
[00:51:06] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It is kind of. You know, when I watch and we'll talk about Blade Runner some more. When I watch 2049 and you just see all of the mega conglomerate ads in there and it's really crazy that we just keep getting closer to that future.
[00:51:23] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean we, we saw in the. The Fifth Element. Right. It's like all of these like.
[00:51:27] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:51:27] Speaker A: Things that were science fiction. Remember that? Science fiction. They're not either fiction or science anymore.
[00:51:34] Speaker B: Yes, you are. Absolutely.
[00:51:36] Speaker A: It's more like idiocracy, actually.
[00:51:40] Speaker B: Absolutely. You could not be further from the truth and I agree with that.
But let's go over to some news that gets us excited for the future in TV streaming news. First up, Netflix is working on a D and D live action Ravenloft series. They scrapped the Forgotten Realms and instead are going to, you know, Strahd, listen.
Fine, great.
Awesome. I'm there.
[00:52:09] Speaker A: I think having it a little more concentrated is a good idea. Forgotten Realms is such a huge, like, taking on of D and D lore. Might as well start somewhere smaller. And I think that's a really cool idea because people love horror.
So do it.
[00:52:25] Speaker B: One thing I just wanted to mention. So the series is going to be brought on by John August, who's done things like Go and Corpse Bride and Big Fish, but also Alfonso Cuaron, who has done just like Children of Men and Harry Potter 3 and, like, so 100%, that's it.
Other things that I've been waiting for my entire life is a Pacific Rim prequel series. Now, this is supposed to be in development over at Amazon prime, but I think we had mentioned this Eric Hessier, who's worked on Pacific Ring comics throughout the years.
So we're going to see what this looks like. You know, we've already had a cartoon show. We've had some comics.
I don't know what this is going to be, but I know. I love Pacific Rim.
[00:53:17] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, Kaiju are big right now. I mean, literally. But get on it.
Do it while it's hot.
[00:53:27] Speaker B: So, yes, 100%.
Kaijus have never been bigger.
[00:53:35] Speaker A: Yeah, that's it.
[00:53:37] Speaker B: Sticking around, though, with animated series in the Netflix world.
Diablo is the next TV series brought to you by Blizzard and Netflix.
Again, adult animated.
So far, Netflix has really, really been killing it. And so to see what this could be and what it's going to turn into, like, and what it can mean for, like, opening up other things that Blizzard owns, like Starcraft and World of Warcraft, we are on the tip of the iceberg of what other things can come from Blizzard Entertainment. So I'm very pumped up about this.
[00:54:12] Speaker A: Yeah, the Blizzard Con was nutty.
We'll talk about that soon enough.
[00:54:18] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. 1,000%.
Okay. So coming actually this week at the time of this recording, we did get a final trailer for Crystal Lake. This is the new Bryan Fuller Jason prequel series.
I don't know what else to say other than I love Bryan Fuller, I love Linda Cardellini playing Jason's mom. This series will probably be pretty jacked up because of what he's done with Hannibal and whatnot.
[00:54:47] Speaker A: I.
[00:54:48] Speaker B: Bring it on.
[00:54:51] Speaker A: Yeah, no, absolutely. I mean, it's spooky month. It's coming.
Yeah. I just. I think it's really great that it's about to drop, and I'm really excited for it. So. Something to watch during Halloween season.
I'm gonna just put this back in here because you took it out because you thought it was in news, because they. So Stargate.
They canceled what they were doing or whatever. Amazon had this idea to do a Stargate show, and then they just announced that they're going to be doing a stargate show from WandaVision creator Jack Schaefer at Amazon.
So Stargate is back on the table, Boys.
[00:55:33] Speaker B: Yes, it. Absolutely. No, I was just moving things around in the background and accident.
[00:55:38] Speaker A: Oh, you were.
[00:55:39] Speaker B: At the same time that you put it in.
[00:55:40] Speaker A: I thought you just didn't like Stargate. I thought you just hate it so much.
[00:55:44] Speaker B: I think we saw that movie together in the theater probably.
Yeah. That was one of the. Actually is one of the best cinematic experiences of my life. Still remember it when the screen opened, when they went through the Stargate. And then, of course, the cartoon series is great, so. Or not cartoon, but the TV show is great. So shows bring us more. Bring us more in that world.
Let's do it.
This is for all you quacktastic fans who've been waiting to hear something from Darkwing Duck outside of a comic book. But finally, Disney has added a reboot series with Mark Hamill and Seth Rogen taking on voice roles. You got Lizzy Kaplan, Dan Stevens.
[00:56:28] Speaker A: What?
[00:56:29] Speaker B: It's a good voice acting cast, and I am very excited to see kind of what they're going to do 35 years later.
[00:56:42] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, the Disney afternoon just has a special place in my heart. I mean, all of us that grew up in that time period of those shows, and Darkwing Duck is one of the coolest things that come out of that. So I can't wait.
[00:56:56] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm very, very happy that we're going to be getting those people back. And good casting.
All right, so Peacock is working on a fast and furious TV adaptation set for a 2028 premiere. Obviously, Vin Diesel will be there as producing.
I don't know, kind of where this takes place in the Fast and Furious world. We still have the movie coming out in 2028, which is still, like, wild that it's taken this long to do it. But, you know, they just open up the ride at Universal in California, so, you know, and I heard it's amazing or it's one of the best rides ever.
[00:57:44] Speaker A: So.
[00:57:44] Speaker B: Yeah, they're kind of riding that ride in that wave.
[00:57:49] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, I'VE heard it's all about the family.
And, you know, the show shouldn't be about the family. I think this show should do something different.
Heist show or something with new characters, maybe. I don't know. I just might be.
[00:58:04] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:58:04] Speaker A: Yeah.
So who knows? I wait patiently to see what they do.
[00:58:11] Speaker B: Exactly. I'm. I'm here for it. Just, you know, we'll see a trailer first.
I like the idea behind it, sure.
But finally, TV streaming news. We talked about it earlier. As far as Blade Runner is concerned with 2449, we got our New York City Comic con trailer for 2099.
That series is dropping November 25th on Prime. It's a limited series, so I'm curious as to, like, how they tell this story and what the plans are for it. But listen, more Blade Runner. I'm not going to be there.
[00:58:50] Speaker A: Big movie, basically. That's what it is.
[00:58:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:58:53] Speaker A: Yeah. Not watching this trailer. You can wait a couple weeks. So I'm ready.
[00:58:57] Speaker B: Same, same. Not too long from now. So let's go over to movie news. And first up, Godzilla minus zero dropped its final form trailer. But with it, we've got news that we are getting our first ever rated R Godzilla movie.
What does this mean, like, to you when you hear this?
[00:59:21] Speaker A: It's gotta just be like, monster. Like, monster versus monster is not enough to give you an R rating.
[00:59:27] Speaker B: It is not.
[00:59:29] Speaker A: This means people are getting, like, shredded. It's gonna be like death on a mate. Like a big scale.
[00:59:35] Speaker B: Yeah, because it's not gonna be swearing. It's not gonna be sex, probably. So. No, only violence.
[00:59:40] Speaker A: It's complete monster violence. And it must be so intense that, that they have to warn us.
I don't know what's gonna happen. I don't know that Monster Zero is coming. And I don't want to watch anything else. And I do not want to see it until the big screen. I will. I will do my best to avoid everything. I bought my IMAX tickets for opening weekend and I will be there.
I'll be there. And I can't wait.
[01:00:11] Speaker B: So, yeah, we're less than a month away from seeing it, and so, gosh, I just can't believe it. So I cannot wait. And that's it.
We've been waiting to hear some news on Zelda. We thought we were going to get a trailer. They didn't, because I literally don't know why. But we do have a release date of next April 30, 2020.
[01:00:35] Speaker A: And the title?
[01:00:37] Speaker B: The Legend of Zelda. Chris, come on.
[01:00:39] Speaker A: Isn't that original? Isn't that.
[01:00:40] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. I mean, what did you want it to be? Zelda and the Tears of the Wild? I mean, like, of course it makes sense to call it this.
[01:00:47] Speaker A: No, that's what I wanted to be called.
[01:00:50] Speaker B: Tears of the Twilight Princess in the minish Cap.
[01:00:55] Speaker A: The. So the Salty Tears of the fandom.
[01:00:57] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[01:00:59] Speaker A: Of course it would be called Legend of Zelda. I'm very excited for this movie. And I also do not know why.
Are you any.
[01:01:06] Speaker B: What.
[01:01:06] Speaker A: Are we getting anything from this movie? Not even a special look at the movie.
[01:01:11] Speaker B: I know.
[01:01:12] Speaker A: They're like, no, here's the York Korean of Time remake trailer, which, yeah, it's magical.
[01:01:19] Speaker B: I'm. I'm guessing we'll get a trailer by year's end because of all of the stuff that's coming out by the end of the year. But also, listen, I wouldn't put past Nintendo, of all people, to just not just be like, no, we're just going to drop it. And we know you're going to spend money because it's Nintendo and it's Zelda and our fans are rabid.
[01:01:40] Speaker A: That's it. I. I wouldn't drop anything, including me. Because the Internet sucks.
[01:01:45] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:01:46] Speaker A: Why give the Internet even, like, five minutes to talk about anything? Like the Internet.
[01:01:50] Speaker B: Is Mario getting on at first.
[01:01:53] Speaker A: Exactly.
[01:01:54] Speaker B: That movie's perfection. Well.
[01:01:56] Speaker A: And even the second one's fun on this stuff.
I don't. I hate people.
[01:02:04] Speaker B: People that I don't hate, though, are Alan Richardson.
He's joining a Helldivers game. So this is. I think it's a Sony game. Right. Like, I don't know if it's for all systems. Helldivers.
[01:02:16] Speaker A: Helldivers is for all systems PC, too.
[01:02:19] Speaker B: So, yeah, they're making a video game of it. Alan Richardson is going to be in it. That's fine. I'll be there.
[01:02:25] Speaker A: Yeah. And it's been delayed. That's the latest news.
[01:02:27] Speaker B: Oh, great. Okay, cool. Well, eventually. But you know what hasn't been delayed, Chris? And it's still crazy that we're getting this thing.
We are getting the Further Misadventures of Cliff Booth due out on November 25th. Again, everything is coming out, like, right on Thanksgiving Day. And this is coming to imax. Not only will you be able to see it on Netflix, but I'm very excited that it's also going to be hit in theaters, which means we're going to get a chance at more things.
But, yeah, this is the DLC of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
[01:03:07] Speaker A: That's the best way to put it. Yeah, exactly.
[01:03:11] Speaker B: Yeah, that's it.
All right. So Brad Bird's next movie, the director of Iron Giant and the Incredibles. My favorite Pixar of all time, Ratatouille. His next movie is a noir, 1939, but also with aliens and everything else. It's coming out in select theaters on December 4th and on Netflix on December 18th. I read a review of it today and have heard it is absolutely amazing.
[01:03:41] Speaker A: Yeah.
Did you say it's getting a small release in theaters?
[01:03:45] Speaker B: Yeah. A week before it comes out?
[01:03:47] Speaker A: Yep. Awesome. Go see that big screen. Hell yeah.
[01:03:51] Speaker B: Yeah. So very, very excited to see what Brad Bird.
[01:03:54] Speaker A: He.
[01:03:55] Speaker B: Listen to me. Tomorrowland is a bit of a miss. I didn't really like it. But everything else that he has done I have enjoyed. So no reason for me not to like a rated R Brad Bird movie.
[01:04:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:04:08] Speaker B: Especially a noir crime thriller like, who knows what that's going to be about. And rated R. Okay.
[01:04:14] Speaker A: That's wild. I didn't know it was rated R. Yeah. Yeah.
[01:04:18] Speaker B: Speaking of things that also could be rated r and took 40 years to come out is in 2028, we'll be getting Gremlins 3 finally. We've been talking about this since the beginning of our lives, let alone dfat our adolescence, basically. Yeah. And so October 6, 2028, they will not be using CGI. They will be using puppets.
That's all I needed to know.
[01:04:48] Speaker A: That little teaser was cute.
[01:04:49] Speaker B: It is very cute. And cannot wait for that.
Also coming out this year, Friend Christmas is Werewolf, the next movie by Robert Eggers. The guy who did Nasaratu and the Lighthouse and the Witch.
This will not be your.
Your grandfather's werewolf movie.
This looks completely horrifying and I absolutely cannot wait for this.
[01:05:23] Speaker A: Yeah. Just the way it's like, he's already an interesting filmmaker to begin with.
[01:05:28] Speaker B: He really is. Yeah.
[01:05:30] Speaker A: This. This trailer, the way it was, how this movie looks filmed is just even different. So. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't wait. It's very weird.
[01:05:41] Speaker B: Very weird. Very much looking forward to the creepiness that he's going to present to us.
We've been Talking about this G.I. joe new movie, I guess, for a while was Danny McBride versus Max Landis. Thank God they kicked his ass out. And Danny McBride finally announced his first casting for the movie, which will be Bradley Cooper.
He'll be set for Duke in the role of Duke. And I'm good with this.
I like Danny McBride. I like Brad Cooper.
I'm getting reminiscent thoughts about the A Team, but I am, which is a great movie.
[01:06:23] Speaker A: Yeah. It's funny because it's also.
The approach, supposedly, is from the idea of Springfield and the Cobra town. So it's not this big. Maybe not this huge scale of, like, what they did with the other movies, but this more like.
Like you said, maybe like almost like an A team little. Little militia thing going on. So who knows how they're going to approach it. I just hope they just. I know that Danny McBride loves GI Joe.
He knows what he's talking about when it comes to that. So I hope they do something unique and special for this one.
[01:07:00] Speaker B: Yeah, I am. I'm excited.
I'm a Joe fan. We're Joe fans, so we'll see more.
This is weird. This. This news dropped this week. It's very strange. Steven Spielberg is supposed to be coming back to Transformers. Michael Bay is supposed to be coming back to Transformers. This is after we've been talking about a skybound sort of, you know, big shared universe, and they even hinted at it. And the last Transformers movie with GI Joe being there.
And now I don't know what this means. You know what I mean?
Like, what was your thoughts when you heard this?
[01:07:39] Speaker A: Well, Casey, I'll tell you what I thought.
I don't like it one bit.
I think that Spielberg is a little spun out after Disclosure Date was not a great movie.
[01:07:53] Speaker B: I really did not like that movie.
[01:07:55] Speaker A: So he's got to come back with his charm of walking robots. I'm going to tell you one thing. Original Transformers movie was great. And it was like this whole idea of how, like, CGI was like. It was like Jurassic Park. Right? Same guy. Groundbreaking. This is no longer groundbreaking. Groundbreaking is.
Let's see a goddamn Energon universe movie series. If you're going to do anything. I don't want Michael Bay back at Transformers, but he's complaining about Michael Bay of Transformers. You go and make Bumblebee, which was a great movie.
Even the one after that was a good movie. Like, get away from this other Transformer universe that nobody wants anymore. Do something different. That's what I just seen about the GI Joe thing.
I don't. I don't like one.
[01:08:41] Speaker B: I will hold my, you know, my thoughts until we see something. But, yeah, the news does not excite me. And it's a very strange, weird announcement, you know, for that franchise.
[01:08:52] Speaker A: So.
[01:08:54] Speaker B: But things that are not weird and are actually pretty freaking awesome.
I'm gonna put these two together because it's both Mike Flanagan, but Mike Flanagan's next film will be The Exorcist Martyrs. We got our trailer for that. This is the ScarJo movie.
This is cool because
[01:09:15] Speaker A: it's.
[01:09:16] Speaker B: It's a really different take within the Exorcist franchise. I was hoping it wasn't going to be a reboot and it's not. This is like a really weird, just kind of religious film and it looks effed up and I cannot wait.
[01:09:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I gotta watch that trailer still. I gotta. I actually gotta binge all my Comic Con trailers I was trying to watch before the show, but. Yeah. And when I've seen the pictures and stuff, it just looks different. Looks good.
[01:09:45] Speaker B: Yeah. And so far in Flanagan we trust.
[01:09:49] Speaker A: Exactly.
[01:09:50] Speaker B: Speaking of his possible next film after this is Warhammer. I just read this.
So the Henry Cavill. I think this is an Amazon film.
[01:10:03] Speaker A: I believe it's tied into it. I think get a whole Amazon approach. I think we actually talked about this before.
Yeah.
Because remember, it was like, they're going to do like an animated something for Warhammer and then the 40k thing is like delayed. And then Flanagan jumped on board. We're like, oh, yeah, this is a cool idea.
Yeah. I don't know. I would.
Can Flanagan finish the Dark Tower series before he starts this? Possibly. That'd be great.
[01:10:35] Speaker B: Yeah. We'll. We'll. We'll see how Flanagan handles all the things that he does. But I actually just downloaded the audiobook for the first Warhammer because I. I want to get into the lore. I've heard it's insanely good. And it's like. And especially with this.
[01:10:55] Speaker A: So I'm not laughing at you for doing it. I'm laughing at the fact that the Warhammer lore is so incredibly huge.
[01:11:04] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:11:05] Speaker A: Like, my friend, he tries to talk to me about it, and after a while I'm just like, you need to stop talking.
[01:11:09] Speaker B: Because that's what I mean. Like, I don't. I don't want it to be like that anymore. I want to have like. I guess there's. These first three books are supposed to at least give me like an idea of what we're getting into. And like, that's it. Will I go fall deep into it? No. Like, the more I learn about how that game is played, the more I'm like, I already know too much math from magic. I cannot do like, like measuring tape and painting miniatures. And like. No, no, no, no. I don't. I don't have the time.
[01:11:40] Speaker A: No. I mean, I.
There's also like, what's he's shown with me is like, you can watch. I've watched some YouTube videos to try to really just understand the basics of it.
[01:11:48] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[01:11:48] Speaker A: I mean, it's freaking epic and insanely like, the 40k world is insane. Okay, so. Oh, and speaking of that, I just also heard that Warhammer Survivors is going to all. All the systems real soon.
[01:12:04] Speaker B: There we go.
All right, so we got some news. Speaking of Godzilla, Shin Godzilla 2 is set to be in the works with starting filming in November.
I.
What is your take? Because, you know, this is more your speed. I like Shin Godzilla. It's just like.
It's kind of crazy, like, how much Godzilla is happening simultaneously on the big screen.
[01:12:32] Speaker A: Well, this is what I think. This is exactly what Toho was talking about.
Because they're just like, let's just do it.
Let's do the minus minus one world. Let's expand on that. Yeah. I didn't understand why there wasn't a Shin Godzilla 2 soon.
[01:12:48] Speaker B: Right, right.
[01:12:49] Speaker A: It was like 2017, 1617, and the way they left it.
I like that movie a lot. I just. It's very different.
The. Just the pacing of it and the monster's awesome. And what they set up is really cool. So I can. There's plenty of room for Godzilla's everywhere, I think.
[01:13:11] Speaker B: And I think that's it. It's like we're in a place now where it will make money. You know what I mean? Like, if you're a Godzilla fan, you're going to see all of them.
[01:13:21] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, Kaiju are big these days, bro. Just like we said, they're big. They're bigger than ever.
[01:13:27] Speaker B: There you go.
And then finally, in movie news, staying around Paramount, we've got a Cyberpunk 2077 live action film in development, you know, taking place in Night City.
It's supposed to be kind of a new original story, not a one for one remake of the game's plot.
[01:13:52] Speaker A: Many plots.
[01:13:53] Speaker B: Many plots.
[01:13:55] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, it could exist. Now. Where's Edgerunners two Second?
[01:14:00] Speaker B: That's. Well, that is coming. I mean, that one, like anime of the year. I mean, it's coming. Yes.
So I'm fine with this.
That's it.
[01:14:13] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. Cyberpunk stuff is great.
[01:14:17] Speaker B: Give us more cyberpunks.
All right, so we're going to go to gaming to end the series, the end of the show today. First up, Final Fantasy 7 revelation. That is also in April. April is a huge month for video games and movies next year.
[01:14:33] Speaker A: Yeah, this. This final chapter of the remake looks as they've said as well, is even. Is bigger than the other Games.
And it's to be expected.
I'm really excited. Gives me a reason to finish part two, finally.
And then Renaissance Resonance, whatever is. It's dropping in a couple weeks. Resonance.
Yeah. I played that demo.
[01:14:59] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:14:59] Speaker A: It's extra beefy demo. Generous demo, as I called, is awesome.
And I can't wait for that game to come out so I can have time before this comes out.
All Final Fantasy.
Yeah.
[01:15:17] Speaker B: No, I know, dude. Like, seriously, it's just. It's so much coming out. So.
But hey, no complaints on my end. Very, very excited to see it end.
We. So we mentioned it. We did get the Zelda direct and we did get an Ocarina of Time trailer.
You know, controversial take. I never played Ocarina of Time.
It's just. It didn't have a GameCube, and so I just missed it.
[01:15:47] Speaker A: 64.
[01:15:48] Speaker B: 64. I didn't have. I didn't have any.
[01:15:50] Speaker A: I'm sorry. Yeah. 64. Yeah.
[01:15:52] Speaker B: 64.
[01:15:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:15:53] Speaker B: Did I have that either?
[01:15:54] Speaker A: So I never. I've never finished it. I. Okay. When I got my gamecube, when they first started the virtual whatever it was, I did start consoles. Yes.
[01:16:04] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:16:05] Speaker A: But I've never finished it.
[01:16:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:16:08] Speaker A: And I found it. It was tough game to play.
[01:16:10] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:16:11] Speaker A: After you're used to jumping and all these other cool things that came in. Video games after effect.
And I love Zelda and I've played almost every Zelda game but never finished this game, which is insane to me. So I'm extra excited to do that on this. This game looks gorgeous.
[01:16:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:16:30] Speaker A: It's nuts.
Just I. I have nothing else to say besides dropping in this slew of video games that are coming out over the next five months, which is nuts.
[01:16:41] Speaker B: Yes.
We haven't even.
[01:16:45] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:16:45] Speaker B: Touched Iceberg. I mean, GTA comes out next month. I mean, it's like so many things.
[01:16:49] Speaker A: So many things.
[01:16:51] Speaker B: All right.
[01:16:52] Speaker A: And this.
[01:16:53] Speaker B: In this. So Metroid, Ravenous, we got a trailer for that indirect.
This comes out in January.
It's a 2D Metroid game. I don't know what else to say other than those words, you know what I mean? Because, like, it looks freaking awesome.
[01:17:10] Speaker A: Did you play Dread?
[01:17:12] Speaker B: No, I didn't.
[01:17:13] Speaker A: Oh, so this is a sequel to Dread.
[01:17:15] Speaker B: Okay, well, that's great.
[01:17:16] Speaker A: And Dread is just awesome.
It's. As much as I like the prime series and what they did do with
[01:17:23] Speaker B: the 3D shooter, I didn't like it as much.
[01:17:26] Speaker A: Yeah, you gotta. You should play that. Remaster the first one. It's awesome.
[01:17:30] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:17:31] Speaker A: It's just. It's when they went to like the Wii controls and the pointer and stuff. It was kind of like for me it got tough.
[01:17:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:17:39] Speaker A: But I think originally it come out on GameCube, so it was originally a controller game and it plays awesome on the Switch.
I'm really sad they haven't made Remastered 2 and 3, which maybe they will. And I still need to play four, which I've heard is okay. Like people like it, but it's. They said it's okay, but Ravenous looks freaking crazy and Dread did some really cool things with like that 3D 2D world side scrolling thing. So it's classic Metroid and it's badass. So I would, I would play it if I were you. I don't even. Maybe I have $60 still.
[01:18:17] Speaker B: I just looked.
[01:18:18] Speaker A: If I have the disc, I'll send it to you. But I think I bought it digitally. Maybe I can let you borrow it.
[01:18:23] Speaker B: I don't know.
[01:18:24] Speaker A: No, that's Switch two. I think I switched two stuff.
[01:18:26] Speaker B: Yeah. Anyway, listen, I do want to play it. It sounds awesome.
Also I have been a Kirby fan since I was a kid. This new one, Kirby and the world beyond looks adorable. Looks badass for Kirby. You know, again they just, they keep making these games just a bit better with tweaking the controls, tweaking the scale yet keeping it classic so you don't, you know, you recognize the characters.
[01:18:56] Speaker A: It looks so fun.
Yeah, this trailer sold me on this game and my wife. It's just like it looks awesome. Looks a lot of fun.
[01:19:05] Speaker B: I thought about Aaron actually when I saw this. Yeah. So we talked about how Diablo is coming to Netflix. So these next pieces of news.
Continuing with the Blizzard thing, we got an announcement for Diablo 5.
You know, I never even got to play Diablo 4 all the way yet and so this is going to force me. Listen, this won't come out for this has got announced. I probably got a couple of years before I need to really worry about it, but. Well, that's the thing happening.
[01:19:36] Speaker A: That's the thing. Like this Blizzcon was kind of interesting because even the Starcraft teaser, the Starcraft game doesn't come out till 2030.
[01:19:43] Speaker B: Are you kidding me?
[01:19:45] Speaker A: No, it's just like they just announced it. Right. Okay.
And the Starcraft game is, is, is not your classic like RTS StarCraft. It's, it's. It's a story driven, I think third or first person shooter game from what I understand. But yeah, like the Blizzcon drops some heavy crazy stuff. I didn't See a return to Starcraft coming, you know, at any time. Did you watch the Starcraft?
[01:20:10] Speaker B: I did, but I guess I didn't. I. I just assumed, you know, that it would be another rts, so.
Okay, well, I love Starcraft.
[01:20:22] Speaker A: Well, you can play on the PlayStation 6 at that time, so it'll be all right.
[01:20:25] Speaker B: You're right. You're right.
And then finally in Castlevania news, Castlevania, Belmont's curse. The demo is out now. Did you end up playing it yet?
[01:20:37] Speaker A: I just beat it last night, yeah.
[01:20:39] Speaker B: Oh, you did? Did you put on easy mode? Because I got my handed to me,
[01:20:42] Speaker A: there is no easy mode. I.
I sat there.
Nope. I sat there for an hour trying to beat the fallen.
[01:20:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:20:52] Speaker A: And I had to go look at a YouTube video because what it is, it's about timing and knowing what to do.
[01:20:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:20:59] Speaker A: And it took me a while, but I finally got it. And I remember now how freaking rewarding that kind of stuff.
[01:21:07] Speaker B: It is. It is.
[01:21:08] Speaker A: I think it does dumb down the, the scale a little bit, but I'm not sure because I did just end up being getting much better at beating it and kicking the crap out of the monster.
[01:21:18] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:21:19] Speaker A: So it's either it scales it down after you get your ass kicked a few times or you just get that much better because you keep practicing, which is what those video games were about in the old days. So I, you and I talked about this a little bit and I do agree with what you're saying about the refinement. Like the way it looks.
I don't think it's as clean as, as like these, these other Metroidvania games have been coming out like you said, like Ori and things like that.
I don't think.
But I think it's very much like from the dead cells, people. And you can see it in that. Yeah. And it plays like a Castlevania, which those games are based on anyways, so I, I'm really looking forward to it. I've been waiting for another side scrolling Castlevania adventure for a very long time. I think the last ones were like what, 3Ds or something? Like crazy.
[01:22:08] Speaker B: It's been a while. Yeah. Yeah. Listen, it looks great. I like the idea of the card system. I like the mechanics. I, I like that it's kind of a spiritual successor to the Netflix series.
[01:22:20] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:22:21] Speaker B: So I will get it. It checks off the boxes. I just got my ass kicked a bunch of times. Yeah.
[01:22:27] Speaker A: But what's weird is it does have a Switch 2 version of the game. It's come just for Switch.
[01:22:32] Speaker B: Interesting.
[01:22:33] Speaker A: So. Yeah, but I mean, what is. What's the difference? I mean, you're just going to upscale the graphics for a game that was built for Switch.
[01:22:39] Speaker B: Right, right, whatever.
And then finally, we've got Castlevania 40th anniversary. We got, like, a nice little trailer for that, as well as free on mobile for a limited time. So if you've never played Castlevania, I guess you could do it. Yeah, get in there. Good.
[01:23:00] Speaker A: Good luck. Because it's hard as hell and you'll turn off the game after about 10 minutes if you're just a casual game player. So have fun. Or not.
[01:23:11] Speaker B: Or not.
[01:23:11] Speaker A: There you go.
[01:23:13] Speaker B: So, Chris, where can you find us?
[01:23:16] Speaker A: We are all over the interwebs at a website called dontforgetatowel.com and we're definitely not on social media anymore. So you can also hashtag DFATENT and you might find some weird, wild stuff from the past.
[01:23:32] Speaker B: That's right. This is Casey saying, go read your comics.
[01:23:35] Speaker A: And this is Chris saying, don't forget a towel.
