Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
Welcome to a brand new episode of Towel Light Talk.
[00:00:11] Speaker B: This is Casey and this is Chris.
[00:00:14] Speaker A: We are in episode 274 as we hurdle towards 300 over the next two years.
[00:00:23] Speaker B: That's right.
Jumping those hurdles.
[00:00:26] Speaker A: That's it. We're jumping them. We're top skipping and all that stuff. Chris, speaking of hopping, skipping, geeking, what have you been geeking out on?
[00:00:36] Speaker B: I. I've got stuff to talk about this, this show because I've been able to take some time for myself.
I've been playing a couple of video games. I got addicted to Bellatra, Bellotro, Balatro. Right. So I was got back in the day of the diver because there's that new DLC coming and I had never played the dredge one. So I went back, played some beat the game actually because I was missing dang. One of the Godzilla pieces. So finally got that done.
So then I got addicted to this, this game because it's a mini game within the game.
And then I've been meaning to buy it anyway, so I did. And then also I want to play Resident Evil 9, but my wife has never seen 4 and I've been wanting to play the remake of 4. So we are doing that TV TV stuff. I've been watching Monarch, which is pretty awesome this season.
Definitely, definitely more Kaiju centric and fast paced and really, it's really cool.
But I mean, same, same heart as the. As the first season.
That's good.
Yeah. Yeah. Have you watched Daredevilia?
[00:01:59] Speaker A: No.
[00:02:00] Speaker B: No. Okay. All right. Well, I did last night. Finally. I've been meaning to do it. It was pretty great.
Okay.
[00:02:07] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm not surprised.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: It was pretty great.
And then I. I can't talk too much about it. Right. Yeah.
And then I watched Send Help last night, which was awesome.
[00:02:20] Speaker A: So good.
Did you. Was it out or you. Okay, I got it.
[00:02:24] Speaker B: I got it. Yeah.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:02:26] Speaker B: Like a pirate island and Survival island and.
Yeah. That movie's wild.
[00:02:34] Speaker A: I love that movie.
[00:02:35] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It's really funny.
It's really gross.
[00:02:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:40] Speaker B: It's like such a good Sam Raimi movie.
[00:02:42] Speaker A: It's like Drag Me to Hell just in a different way.
[00:02:47] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:02:48] Speaker A: So, yeah, he. He did not lose his magic.
[00:02:51] Speaker B: No.
[00:02:53] Speaker A: One of my favorite movies this year.
I saw one of my other favorite movies this year which was Ready or Not Ready, Player one. Jesus Christ Project Hail Mary, which is great. I. It only had a 34.34percent drop between last week and this week, which is huge. Which means word of mouth really has gotten this movie into a good place, so hopefully just continues to do so. And, yeah, I don't know what else. I finished that book. Still reading Dungeon Crawler Carl.
Be doing that for the next month, probably.
And then a giant hole will be left in my life because it's all I. All the audio books is that.
And I don't know what to do after that.
[00:03:42] Speaker B: You could get the audiobook for the new Magic the Gathering book we're going to talk about today.
[00:03:47] Speaker A: Oh, okay. I didn't know it was an audiobook.
[00:03:49] Speaker B: All right, Well, I don't. I didn't either. I'm sure that. Well, maybe that's more down the road then.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: Yeah, we.
We'll see.
[00:03:57] Speaker B: What if you see, though?
[00:03:59] Speaker A: Well, we'll hear.
[00:04:01] Speaker B: Right?
[00:04:01] Speaker A: We will let.
[00:04:01] Speaker B: There's got to be something for the.
[00:04:03] Speaker C: Right.
[00:04:03] Speaker A: All you people listening to the podcast who are also Magic the Gathering fans, we will keep you posted as to what format that comes out.
But let's get into the geeky news.
First things up. We got Marvel News.
You know, the biggest thing in. In many reasons, because it also made, like, the most amount of views of a trailer, like, insane. I think it's over a billion views or something, which is Spider Man. Brand new day.
Chris, what are you thinking, man? What do you. What did you think of this trailer? I did not watch it because I am.
I'm an idiot.
[00:04:44] Speaker B: You were waiting to see it on in front of Project Hail Mary, and it was not. Huh.
[00:04:49] Speaker A: We got to Project Hail Mary late and I missed the trailer, and I'm so angry. I didn't watch Dune either. I know we're gonna talk about it, but those two trailers, I was like, ah, great. I'll watch them in front of Project Hail Mary. I'm excited we got there.
[00:05:02] Speaker B: Yeah. Spider man trailers, pretty great.
Yeah, I. I'm just like.
You can see that. You can definitely see the difference in tone and.
Yeah. And just.
Yeah, I loved it. I'm really excited for this movie, the Punisher on the big screen. It's insane.
It just. The step and connection between the. The movie world and the TV world that has needed to exist since the beginning of the MCU and the, you know, the lackluster way they have done it in the past.
Yeah, I'm really excited to see what happens because this next thing is all related to it as well.
[00:05:47] Speaker A: Nice.
I'm into it. Yeah. I cannot wait. Listen, you know, I'm all in. I don't even need to see a preview. But you did mention Punisher, and we did get a Release date, which is May 12 for a Marvel Television special presentation of the Punisher. One last kill.
So this will be a 60 minute, kind of like they did with Werewolf by Night, but featuring your favorite, Frank Castle.
Call me up. I'll be there.
[00:06:19] Speaker B: And it's much longer. You know, an hour is like.
I didn't. Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be an hour. It's pretty awesome. It's an hour. Yeah.
Wrapping up, you know, where he has, where is he, where he's at at the end of Daredevil season one, leading up to, you know, brand new day. So, yeah, I mean, they have not held back on what the Punisher does in the mcu. So pretty excited to see what, you know, how violent, wild this gets.
[00:06:49] Speaker A: So, yeah, I'm, I'm super excited about that. And just because we're like kind of in that vein with, you know how they kind of fill in the gaps with everything. So we are going to get a little comic, five issue limited series by Hickman and Kubert which will be Spider Man Long Way Home, which is. We'll kind of see a melding of Pete, Bruce Banner and Frank Castle. Will he become the Hulk? We'll find out.
That's a good comic tie in, right?
[00:07:30] Speaker B: Yeah, no, it's a smart idea. Yeah.
[00:07:34] Speaker A: And then also in Spider man, new Spider Man. Spider Noir.
Or is it Spider Man Noir?
[00:07:40] Speaker B: I can't remember. It's Spider Noir.
[00:07:41] Speaker A: Spider Spider Noir. That's coming out on May 25th on MGM plus, which nobody owns. Or May 27th and Amazon prime, which everyone owns. Especially since Amazon owns mgm. It doesn't make any sense.
[00:07:55] Speaker B: It also owns all of us.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: Yeah, also owns all of us. But that trailer looked great speaking to Sam Raimi and I'm pumped for that series.
[00:08:04] Speaker B: No, I, I agree. Like, it's just such a weird, weird concept. I'm glad they're doing it live action with Nicolas Cage. Just wacky, wacky stuff.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: It's super wacky. I'm super glad they're going for it and can't wait.
And finally though, Marvel streaming news.
Wonder man was a hit. So we are going to get Wonder Man Season 2.
I didn't get to watch it, but everyone loved it, right?
[00:08:33] Speaker B: They did.
Which is maybe want to watch even more. So I gotta make some time for that.
[00:08:40] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely.
All the great things, including across the pond. We've got ourselves a DC News Lanterns got a more like a full trailer. And you really got to see all the Green Lantern goodness. It's been getting mixed. I Don't know. Like, what are your thoughts on it? Because it seems like it's not super well received.
[00:09:06] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I. I liked it. I. I really want to see that show, and I'm not gonna bash it until I watch it.
Yeah, I don't. I don't know. I mean, even.
Even Grant Morrison had run his mouth when, you know, David Lindoff has made one of the best comic book series of all time for tv. So I have faith in what they're doing, and I'm just, you know, I'll judge it when I watch it.
Jon Stewart is my favorite. You know, he's my favorite Green Lantern, so I'm excited to see this in live action.
[00:09:46] Speaker A: You know what I always forget and, you know, we'll talk about it a little bit more as the show goes on. But, like, don't bet against hbo.
[00:09:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:09:58] Speaker A: Because, like, that's the other thing is, like, the quality of shows that you get on HBO are almost un.
Unprecedented. Like, there's some insane. Like, even the. The Penguin could have been just a straight up regular show, but it's so good. You know what I mean? Like, obviously, you got the Sopranos, you got all the shows on there.
Like, they constantly get nominated for awards. So, like, to think that it's gonna be anything less than good, it's just stupid. And like you said, he already proved himself with an unfilmable sequel. Being Watchmen, and that show destroyed things. It was amazing. So not gonna doubt that on this.
And then finally, just kind of continuing the Lanterns nudes, Jon Stewart is confirmed to be in the sequel for man of Tomorrow.
Will we see Guy and John or, you know, some mix? I don't know. This world's only gonna keep getting bigger.
[00:10:56] Speaker B: Exactly, Exactly. I'm excited for that.
[00:11:00] Speaker A: Super, super pumped. All right, so Supergirl, we've got a bit of a composer change.
Claudia Saarn, who did Book of Eli and a bunch of other stuff that I don't even know about.
She's gonna be coming in and doing the score, and I hope that means good things. I'm not. I don't really know their work, so I can't really say 100 if that's good or bad.
[00:11:24] Speaker B: Yeah, this is like the third composer for this. Like, Junkie xl. Like, I think.
[00:11:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:29] Speaker B: Announced Junkie xl, the last episode.
So I guess that's my question. It's like, all of this, they're just writing the music post movie now.
[00:11:38] Speaker A: Okay. Ramen, you know, from Game of Thrones, was originally attached to score the film.
[00:11:44] Speaker B: Interesting.
[00:11:45] Speaker A: Wow.
That is very interesting because, like, that's a huge name. You know what I mean?
[00:11:51] Speaker B: 2. Two huge names before this one. Right.
But we'll see. Maybe it'll make this person a huge name in all of your living rooms.
[00:12:01] Speaker A: Right, that. That's exactly it. So James Gunn's DCU will expand, obviously, in television and in theaters.
And we're also going to visit some of the other Elseworld stuff. So we know there's gonna be that Dick Grayson, Jason Todd that will be animated. We'll be seeing the Brave and the bowl. This something. You know what I mean? Clay Faces on tv. Like, we're gonna get a mix of a bunch of stuff.
What do you think about all this? Like, how they're kind of coming at it from all directions, I guess.
[00:12:37] Speaker B: Yeah, it's smart because you already have the Batman, which is. Yeah, they've established is not their Batman for the DZ films world or whatever the dcu.
So what the news is is that people are kind of wondering where, you know, this dynamic duo thing takes place. And it's actually now it's. It's an Elseworld tale. So the Jason Todd Dick Grayson story, I think it is, that won't affect the main movie verse or have, you know, like, straight ties to it. So this is. This is interesting because now you have two. Two titles in their Elseworld imprint.
[00:13:23] Speaker A: Yeah. And like, does Clayface fit in with their Batman or does it fit in with Robert Pattinson's Batman?
[00:13:30] Speaker B: I think this Clayface is part of the. The DCU one. No, the other one. I think so. Because they had introduced Clay face and creature commandos. Yeah.
So that's pretty cool. So we'll see. Either way. I don't care.
[00:13:47] Speaker A: Either way, we're in, right?
[00:13:49] Speaker B: Hell, yeah.
[00:13:50] Speaker A: And then continuing on with Elseworlds and the comic book sides of things, we're going to get three new tales. We've got Supergirl Survive, which she's.
Kara is taking care of a baby Kal El, and they're kind of going through an intergalactic adventure. So that's different.
We've got Superman, Father of Tomorrow, where Jor El actually lands in Kansas. And what does that mean?
And then finally, the continuation, Dark Knights of Steel. This is two. This is the fantasy world. I really enjoyed the first one.
I'm glad that they're going back there because that story wasn't done and that can, if not can, it is its own separate world in that sense too. And I'm just waiting for the role playing game to come out. Because, you know, it is.
[00:14:37] Speaker B: That's. Yeah, that's a great idea. Yeah. I love Tom Taylor. I'm excited to read more of this. These other two sound really good.
1. So to check that out.
[00:14:49] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. All right, so let's go over to the galaxy far, far away. And in Star wars news, Wedge is back, this time in a new book calling Star Wars Star Pilots.
I don't really care about this, but, you know, what's he doing after Rise of Skywalker? Let's find out. He's old as hell, I would hope retired. But he was. Everyone never gets a chance in Star wars to just exist.
[00:15:26] Speaker B: He was. He was retired and then they pulled him back in.
[00:15:29] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I know. To recruit that movie Force Awakens, right?
[00:15:33] Speaker B: No, it was.
It was the third movie where everybody came in at the end, which was like this added. Added part to the movie that nobody wanted except for like Kathleen Kennedy, you know. Yeah, so.
[00:15:50] Speaker A: So, so many. Yeah.
[00:15:51] Speaker B: Yeah. So he's back.
If you like reading.
[00:15:55] Speaker A: If you like reading. Which we did. We've read a million Star wars books. Novels. I just, you know, we'll talk about it in this one. As the world continues to get smaller at Star Wars, I look forward to Ryan Gosling's thing every day.
[00:16:09] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:10] Speaker A: Just to see what is it like outside of the Skywalkers for once.
But things that still are in that world. But look, effing awesome. We've got Mall Shadow Lord.
This is the thing I wanted to talk to you about. This will be spoilers. First of all, what do you think of the trailer, the newest one?
[00:16:27] Speaker B: I'm not sure if I watched it. Honestly. I think I'm at the point where I watched that first trailer. I'm good. I didn't. I don't think I watched this one.
[00:16:37] Speaker C: I did.
[00:16:39] Speaker B: That's surprising.
[00:16:41] Speaker A: It is surprising because I watched the first one too. But ever, you know, I just. The animation is so sick now and it's just amazing. But the thing that I noticed from this, and I'm going to throw it out here, it's not fact.
I think he's going to be training that young Jedi and turning her into Darth Talon.
[00:17:02] Speaker B: That is.
[00:17:03] Speaker A: That is my theory.
This young Twi' lek girl who's got red skin who clearly is going to have to figure out which side of the Force she wants to be on.
I think he's going to train his own apprentice and when he dies, dies whenever they decide that is, she will continue on.
[00:17:23] Speaker B: He does die in.
[00:17:25] Speaker A: I know he dies, but like I can't remember where it is in this world.
[00:17:28] Speaker B: It's in Rebels when he does that one second fight against Obi Wan, it's the greatest.
[00:17:33] Speaker A: Crashes and I mean, lightsaber battle.
[00:17:35] Speaker B: It is a great.
And it's.
[00:17:37] Speaker A: It's well deserved. So, yeah, this is.
We'll see.
[00:17:41] Speaker B: That's smart. That's smart, Casey. It's a good fan theory right there.
[00:17:45] Speaker A: Take my. Take my theory as you see it. But you don't call me Shadow Master without having an apprentice, is all I'm saying.
Or Shadow Lord or whatever the fuck he is. All right?
[00:17:59] Speaker B: He's both.
[00:18:00] Speaker A: He's all. He's all of it. Let's go over to Star Trek. Let's get over to the Earth space side of things.
Star Fleet Academy didn't quite get off the ground. It's going to be canceled after season two.
[00:18:17] Speaker B: I'm not. I'm not surprised.
[00:18:19] Speaker A: I'm not surprised either. I think everything that's been going on over there, even with what's his name dying, it's just like, I think they don't. They were doing so good and now that all these other things wrapped up, it's like, I don't know if they know what's going on.
[00:18:33] Speaker B: I mean, it's. It's debatable, right?
I've heard mixed things. I haven't watched this yet. I want to and I still will, even if it's gonna just be two seasons, because I like the concept. But then even, even my friend was like, yeah, it's like Star Trek 90210 at times.
[00:18:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:52] Speaker B: The reverse of that is you have like a really good lead cast and trying to, you know, grow this, this Discovery universe. So I don't know. I. I also have heard that, you know, they're trying to go a different. A different direction and with making that new movie. And maybe they're just do a hard stop here. But this next piece of news also is. Is interesting because it expands that world.
[00:19:23] Speaker A: Right. And so, yeah, let's go back into that. This is Star Trek year one, which will be just what it sounds like. The new Kirk possibly leading the new team.
I don't know how this works. You know what I mean? It's basically rebooting the original series kind of.
[00:19:47] Speaker B: No, actually what it does, because when you come into the original series, it's already. Right.
[00:19:52] Speaker A: You're right.
[00:19:53] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:19:54] Speaker A: So.
[00:19:56] Speaker B: But this is not going to happen. This is not going to happen, I don't think. Because if, if indeed Paramount goes ahead and makes a new Star Trek movie universe with Captain Kirk. I just don't. Yeah, I don't see them doing a TV show as well. Right.
It just, it's just. I don't. That's not something Paramount would do.
Yeah, you know, something, one thing, right?
[00:20:19] Speaker A: No, no, no, you're not. Not incorrect at all.
[00:20:23] Speaker B: Which sucks because the. What they've set up is pretty cool, you know, so. Through strange new worlds and whatnot.
[00:20:32] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Well, again with this whole shake up that's coming on.
Let's see, you know, what is actually gonna happen when we, when we figure it out.
But we will see. Stay tuned and give you guys that news. All right, so let's go over to Crowd Sorcery.
We've got one that's about to end, which is the Godzilla role playing game.
This is by idw, who's been putting out the. The comics. It's a tabletop role playing game like you would get from a Dungeons and Dragons and everything else.
That's it. We'll just leave a link in here. I'm sure they'll still, you know, let you buy it after the campaign ends at like slightly more impressive cost. But this is good. This is cool.
[00:21:21] Speaker B: Yeah, if you.
I mean, who doesn't have an RPG these days?
[00:21:26] Speaker A: It's insane.
Everybody has an RPG these days.
Yeah, like, absolutely everyone does. But hey, you don't have a Godzilla one yet. Pick it up. So leave that Kickstarter in as well as Build A Boy. For all of you who grabbed yourself a Lego Game Boy and were sadly disappointed by the trailers that didn't let you actually play it, there is a company, Build A Boy, who's probably going to get sued out of existence from lego. But at the moment, we're leaving the link in here where you might be able to upgrade your LEGO handheld with authentic retro parts.
Cool, cool, cool idea. Let's see if it makes it.
[00:22:05] Speaker B: But who.
Who the hell thinks you're gonna get a playable Lego Game Boy at that price point?
[00:22:15] Speaker A: I did.
[00:22:16] Speaker B: I. I'm sorry. No, you didn't. Not seriously, dude.
[00:22:19] Speaker A: I did for about 12 seconds when I was like, oh, that's a really cool idea. And then they didn't do it. And I was like, I feel like there's a mess here. Listen, they could have charged you an extra $50 and threw those parts in themselves is all I'm saying.
[00:22:34] Speaker B: I don't think so.
50 bucks.
[00:22:38] Speaker A: I'm just saying it didn't happen, but I would have loved it.
[00:22:45] Speaker B: Fake news. Fake news. AI generated it is.
[00:22:49] Speaker A: So we're not getting it, but, you know, hey, there is. There's still hope for you as well as in pursuit of plastic.
I know you guys have all been waiting for a Godzilla stop motion battle royale in the form of toys.
It's here. We're gonna leave the link to it because it's a fun little trail. Or not. I don't even know. Trailer teaser.
[00:23:15] Speaker B: Short.
[00:23:16] Speaker A: Short. Yeah, but get your Godzillas ready. Get on your stop motion hats and. And live it up in that way.
[00:23:26] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:23:26] Speaker A: All right. So, yeah, it's fun. It's just fun.
All right, so Turtles have been going strong across all mediums, and Mezco is no different. And we finally had something that te since the beginning, which is our Splinter. It's officially released. We'll leave the link here to the entertainment Earth, where you can snag it yourself.
Going for $116. You get a bunch of random stuff with it. And if you are a Splinter fan who doesn't want real hair but instead wants it sculpted, this is the figure for you.
[00:24:00] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. It's all right.
[00:24:04] Speaker A: It's all right.
[00:24:05] Speaker B: It's all right. Because it. I think that the NECA one is great.
I do, too. So whatever.
[00:24:12] Speaker A: I mean, I. Yeah, honestly, I do, too. So it's. It's fine. I'm not complaining about it. It exists for those who want it, and, hey, snatch it up.
[00:24:22] Speaker B: At least.
At least they're putting it out like these ninja Turtle figures out on a regular schedule.
[00:24:28] Speaker A: You're right.
[00:24:29] Speaker B: Shredder had just gotten free of it. And, you know, so there's a good timing, which is unlike Mezco.
[00:24:35] Speaker A: So, no, no, you're good for.
[00:24:37] Speaker B: Good for them.
You are absolutely right.
[00:24:41] Speaker A: And finally, in pursuit of plastic time and news, Mondo in their Animated Series line has put out Daredevil, which was from. It's actually not even really from it. Right from Spider man, the Animated Series.
[00:25:00] Speaker B: I don't know about this first appearance. Maybe it's in, like, a flashback or something, but I know that Daredevil showed up in his costume, but I don't remember the first.
This is just a variant of. Of a figure. Of a figure.
[00:25:13] Speaker A: Yes. I have this figure from Marvel Legends, and I know. And it's part of that blister pack of Spider man, the Animated Series of things that, like, didn't necessarily exist on the show, but maybe it did for 12 seconds. Anyway, you can buy it if you're a Daredevil or Spider man completionist fan.
[00:25:37] Speaker B: You can't, because it's sold out.
[00:25:38] Speaker A: So oh, it is sold out. You're right.
Well, notify me when it's restocked, and hopefully you grab your hands on it. That's right. All right, let's jump over to comic news.
Have you ever wondered, Chris, why Dracula has his brides? And why we never learned the story about why they're just living at his house and sucking on any sort of Keanu Reeves when he stops by?
[00:26:05] Speaker B: No, I. I just figured he was Mormon.
[00:26:09] Speaker A: Well, now you can find out. Charlotte Cross is bringing you the Bride's new novel, which will explain why Dracula's three brides came to be, how they showed up, and all that stuff.
I'm okay with this. I. I think it's kind of an interesting way to do a prequel. I also think it's funny because it's like we've never thought about this for the last, I don't know, hundred years or whenever Dracula came out.
[00:26:37] Speaker B: I've been asking for it.
[00:26:39] Speaker A: You have? That's true. Well, now, now. Now you get your chance. So that's coming out.
It should be hitting bookshelves pretty soon, so keep an eye out for that. All right. King of the Monsters continues down his just weird and wacky path, as now we get our own version of the Odyssey, but from Godzilla's perspective.
So instead of Homer, he's going through there. I see there's a Clash of the Kaiju variant cover, which is pretty awesome.
If you've been wanting to read this classic story over the last thousands of years, well, now you can get it in Godzilla form.
[00:27:23] Speaker B: It's the reading companion to Christopher Nolan's the Odyssey.
[00:27:27] Speaker A: That's it. And I think it's probably going to be a bit of its own.
Awesome. They're calling it a Greek goddessy, which, hey, it's.
[00:27:40] Speaker B: That's so clever.
[00:27:42] Speaker A: So it is clever. It is clever, all right. As is John Carpenter. The Halloween legend continues. He came out with a video game recently, his zombie game that we talked about last one. And now we're getting his first graphic novel, which will be called Cathedral, put out by Storm King Comics, which is actually founded by his own wife, Sandy King. So John Carpenter, we're going to see what his take is on a couple of detectives who have to go into a church and discover some unsettling secrets.
[00:28:17] Speaker B: I'm just. This is his first graphic novel or period. Listen, it's feel like he's had his own comic, right, For a while. Right. So.
[00:28:27] Speaker A: So Storm King Comics has come out since 2015, and they've released John Carpenter things.
You Know what I mean?
[00:28:35] Speaker B: Like adaptations by other people.
[00:28:36] Speaker A: Different. Yeah, different stories. I think this is his first one produced by him.
[00:28:41] Speaker B: Right, right.
[00:28:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Coming out in August. So. Cool. That'll come out.
[00:28:45] Speaker B: I'll read it. All right.
[00:28:46] Speaker A: And then the next two are gonna be magic related.
We have Strix Haven, Omens of Chaos.
In case you didn't know, Secrets of Strix Haven is the next set that comes out in the magic universe. And so they're.
I think they're going a little bit more all in than they have in the other sets. Right. Like.
[00:29:08] Speaker B: Yeah, interesting enough. It's like a lot of cool tie ins.
Well, well, scheduled tie ins. Like this book is.
It's, it's, you know, it's being sold as a prequel to the set.
[00:29:23] Speaker A: Right.
[00:29:23] Speaker B: Includes an exclusive command tower from the set.
You know, it's. It's cool. I just, I think it's. They're going all in period with, you know, their monthly releases. And this is, this is no different. And I think this is actually really smart because I.
You want people to get interested in your real lore.
With all these ubs out there, you know, kind of changing the game, it's good to go back to basics.
[00:29:55] Speaker A: I agree. And so whether you get a book, it looks like there's gonna be a Kindle edition, audiobook edition, all of the things available.
And that makes me excited. I will be buying it.
[00:30:09] Speaker B: I do.
[00:30:10] Speaker A: Especially for that card.
And then finally, in magic bookish news, Dark Horse will be putting out the untold stories of Jace, one of the premier blue planeswalkers.
And again, another thing I'm excited about because we're gonna learn more about his story, how he came to be. And it's just Michael W. Conrad is on writing it. Oh. Illustrated by Caitlin Yarski. I did not know that. That makes it even better. She's so she is from Rochester and I've met her a couple times.
She's done. So she got started with an indie book.
I can't remember what the indie book is over at Image. And so since then she's done a lot of Black Hammer books. She did Living Hell, which is her own book. She's done some Master of the Universe, some Stranger Things.
And it looks like she's doing all of these jaces, so.
[00:31:20] Speaker B: Great.
[00:31:21] Speaker A: Good for her. Yeah.
So we'll leave the link in there for these two so you guys can take a look at that. But in the meantime, while you're browsing your book history, Chris and I are going to take a quick commercial break.

[00:32:10] Speaker B: Oy. Over 20 points of articulation, great sculpting. And look at the paint job on her.
[00:32:16] Speaker A: We've been looking all over for this one. Let's get him enough sights and end this hunt now.
All right, all right.
[00:32:24] Speaker B: Steady, steady now.
[00:32:28] Speaker A: Got him.
[00:32:30] Speaker B: It's the pursuit of plastic.

[00:33:10] Speaker A: Welcome back from those extra special commercials. Chris, are you ready to talk about TV streaming?
[00:33:20] Speaker B: I am.
All right, let's.
[00:33:22] Speaker A: Let's do it. First things first. I can't even believe this.
Treasure island. Getting his own TV series for Paramount plus MGM plus which doesn't make any sense.
Are you ready for this? This should be, you know, Robert Lewis Stevenson swashbuckling epic. We've got David Aolo and Haley Atwell. Jack Houston, what's your thoughts on this?
[00:33:52] Speaker B: Yeah, Pirate adventure starring Haley Atwell.
Luscious pirates are. Are in the mainstream Zeitgeist, you know, One piece and that movie over at Amazon, I still need to watch.
[00:34:08] Speaker A: I know it's on my. The bluff.
[00:34:10] Speaker B: The bluff. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, I. Whatever, man. I mean I love pirates, so bring it on.
[00:34:20] Speaker A: I.
No, I agree. You know what? I'm actually going to put this in the.
I'm going to put this in here too.
There's adding news. I am adding news because we're talking about pirates, but I totally forgot about it until.
And I'm going to put it into crowd sorcery. So there's this movie called Pirates of the Secrets of the Lamp and it is a fan film that I watched the trailer for last week and I totally forgot about it until for doing this. It looks legit, like it it looks like, you know, a lot of fan films just look cheap and shitty. Cgi. Etc. This right here looks like a. There's some cgi. That's not great. But overall, the costumes, the feeling, I was like, I would watch this pirates movie in a heartbeat. It's about them trying to find, like, a genie lamp and then dealing with that.
Anyways, I put it in crowdsource if you guys are pirates fans, and I do like Treasure Island. Check it out.
So I put that back in there.
All right. Kevin Williamson is, you know, Scream. He's supposed to be putting a Universal Monsters TV series together.
I don't. This is fine. It's just. I can't get super excited until we actually start seeing things from Universal Monsters. Because everything in that world feels like it's at Blumhouse, it's at Universal. Is this got kids in it? Is it like, what's a TV series look like? I don't know.
[00:35:59] Speaker B: Me neither. Casey.
Okay.
Yeah, it sounds fun. It sounds like a great, great idea. And then I don't. I. Yeah. Is it Monster Squad TV show?
[00:36:11] Speaker A: I know, I know.
So I don't know. I. I will get excited about this as we continue to give you guys more information, because it sounds like a good idea, but we'll find out.
All right. Garfield is getting a new animated series over at Paramount. Plus, Lamorne Morris will be famously voicing the cat.
You know, we grew up with Garfield.
Normal, all those fun guys.
I would like to introduce my kid to a new generation. She has no idea what I say when I say you're like a Garfield of how much you like lasagna.
[00:36:50] Speaker B: Going to mail you to Abu Dhabi.
Yeah, for sure. I love Garfield.
I mean, we grew up with a thing called newspaper and comic strips.
[00:37:00] Speaker A: And I was telling her about that, too.
[00:37:02] Speaker B: A staple. Man. Remember those? Remember those Garfield books? The long ones? And they would just compile. It was just like the omnibuses of cartoon comics. Absolutely, dude. Good stuff. I mean, it's just that it was a staple of our childhood.
[00:37:15] Speaker A: It was a stable of our childhood. So we'll see how that. How that ends up.
We'll keep you posted. Other things that were a staple of our childhood, or at least our teenage years, was. Buffy.
We've been talking about this reboot for a long time, but finally the news came out that Hulu is not going forward with it.
Honestly, there's been a lot of mixed messages about the tone of it. And, you know, was Chloe Zhao making it weird? Was this executive who works at Hulu making It weird.
I don't know. And I don't know if we'll get more Buffy, but I'm also okay if we don't.
[00:37:57] Speaker B: Yeah. I'd like to see this pilot, honestly. And I just.
[00:38:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:38:01] Speaker B: Yeah, it's unfortunate, I guess.
And then again, we don't know we were getting ourselves into. So Sarah Michelle Geller was on board for it and was happy with Chloe Zhao's vision, you know? Yes. So, yeah, I. It's really unfortunate. Do you think it would find another home?
[00:38:23] Speaker A: I think so. For whoever wants to give the money.
I also think this was one version of a Buffy remake.
There's other ideas out there.
And I don't know. You know what I mean? Like, I heard, oh, Buffy only says one line at the end. And I read that, but then I was like, well, maybe that's all it needed. Maybe it's really cool leading up to that. Maybe you see this new girl dealing with vampires and finally she gets overwhelmed. And at the end, it's like there's only one person to call to get me out of this.
[00:38:57] Speaker B: The original Skywalker.
[00:38:59] Speaker A: Luke Skywalker.
[00:39:00] Speaker B: Sounds like Awakens to me.
[00:39:02] Speaker A: Right?
[00:39:03] Speaker B: Or the Slayer Awakens.
[00:39:06] Speaker A: Listen, I don't know. I don't know if it was bad or good. I know Chloe Zhao was. Won numerous Oscars at this point. And I don't know if that's a good idea. Just turn your back on that either. So we may never see it.
We may see it somewhere in a different network, who knows? But for now, Buffy is dead, where she has been for a long time.
So. Anyway, speaking of things, though, that do keep coming back. Also from Joss Waden is Firefly.
We've got news on a animated series coming out.
I don't know if this is gonna actually happen because they're waiting to try to get some support from. For it. All I know is that everybody's coming back. With the exception of the preacher. He's dead.
Technically, is dead.
[00:39:58] Speaker B: No, no, no.
[00:39:59] Speaker A: It's gonna take place in a different world.
Outside of canon.
[00:40:04] Speaker B: No, no, no. It takes place between the end of Firefly and. And Serenity, which is the best place for it. All those people are alive, right?
[00:40:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:40:14] Speaker B: It's smart, in a way.
Makes the. I mean, come on. I mean, you go from the TV show to the movie, and then it's just over.
People wanted more adventures.
There's no way, like, you could do a live action.
[00:40:28] Speaker A: They've been doing, you know, mix, but it's not the same.
[00:40:30] Speaker B: It's not the same. Not when you're gonna have the whole voice cast. And it was very clever, you know, cleverly done, the way that they did those social media things.
[00:40:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:40:38] Speaker B: And then they announced it. Awesome Con or whatever it was. So I. I don't know how to. I don't know how to feel. I mean, I love that world. And I just. I. I don't want to get too excited because, like you said, there's still no home for it.
They have everything else in place.
Yeah. Just. Let's see what happens. And, you know, it's. It's animated, so it's not like it's going to take forever to get it out either.
Right.
[00:41:04] Speaker A: So they're waiting for it to get picked up, but I have no doubt that it will somewhere.
[00:41:11] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:41:11] Speaker A: Assassin's Creed is going to Netflix, and they're working on their live action. They've been adding some casting, including Numi Repace, which is good, because I was literally just thinking about her, like, why isn't she still doing stuff around here? Like, what's going on there? I know she has a huge career outside of America, but anyway, we find out that we're gonna get her added, as well as some other Ramsey, Bad, Sean Harris, Corrado, Inver, Nisa are all getting added.
And the setting will be in Rome, which totally makes sense because that's the beginning of the series. And I'm cautiously optimistic because of how well Fallout is.
I'm also just kind of like, how are you going to set this apart from, like, a West world with, like, the stuff that's happening outside of the video game and, like, how it affects. You know what I mean? Like, you get that?
[00:42:12] Speaker B: I do, yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Do you. Do you just do a series that doesn't include that. That virtual world? You're just.
[00:42:21] Speaker A: No, it says it in this.
[00:42:22] Speaker B: Oh, it does.
[00:42:23] Speaker A: This article, it's about, you know, this company that's trying to, you know, face off our future with what's happening in the past, which is the games.
[00:42:35] Speaker B: So cool.
I don't know.
[00:42:39] Speaker A: I didn't watch the Michael Fassbender movie to know either how they handled it. I don't know.
[00:42:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
Yeah. I. Yeah, it's forgettable.
[00:42:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:48] Speaker B: I don't know, man. I just. It's funny.
Those are my least favorite parts of the games.
[00:42:57] Speaker A: Something. Yeah. When they go back, you're like, I don't care. Just back in that setting, please. Apparently, something's going on with America or the world, but I don't care.
[00:43:05] Speaker B: I was just jumping across Rooftops. And now I'm not. Now it's limited play.
[00:43:11] Speaker A: Yeah, I remember that. I do remember that. So we'll keep you posted. Not to say we. It's bad or, you know, always again with these things. Let's see what it looks like. A trailer.
All right.
Speaking of video games turned something. Final Fantasy 9 is supposed to be getting an animated series starring Vivi, everyone's favorite mage.
Black Mage's Legacy follows the children of EV. And it's supposed to come out sometime in 2028.
We'll see.
[00:43:42] Speaker B: Yeah, it's great.
I. That came out of, you know, left field. I. I've heard that this has been in the works anyways, but now that it's moving forward.
Yeah, I just.
More from that world. I just don't understand, like, how we got through. It's. I don't know what anniversary was. 30th anniversary, 25th anniversary, something like that. And there wasn't a whole lot, except for, like, merchandise announced.
[00:44:09] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:44:09] Speaker B: People were like, where's The Final Fantasy 9 remake?
Remasters.
[00:44:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:44:15] Speaker B: Or just the, you know, remaster. Whatever.
Yeah. Just so much.
So many rumors out there that it's actually kind of cool to be getting something like this.
[00:44:28] Speaker A: And I agree. I agree.
It's.
Yeah. We want to see more from these worlds, and so let's. Let's bring it on. You know what I mean?
[00:44:40] Speaker B: For sure.
[00:44:41] Speaker A: Let's see what it looks like.
All right.
We've got Stranger Things is getting a 4K release of the entire show.
I have been waiting to hear something like this for a very long time because Netflix is really notoriously shitty with their physical releases. But this is Arrow, and Arrow is one of the leads at physical releases right now.
This is a 25 disc set.
Every season gets multiple extras.
I don't know. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know what to tell you. Arrow does it and I love them. So I. You can pre order it right now. It's gonna be 270 on 4K. 250 on Blu Ray.
Honestly, Arrow does so many sales as well through Mondo and whatnot that you could hold off and see if you can get it for a cheaper price. But I also think, like, that's not a bad price for an entire series. Plus extras. You get a crate book, 4K.
It seems okay to me.
[00:46:00] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I mean, I feel like that would sell out anyways. Like, they're not gonna make a ton of them.
[00:46:08] Speaker A: No. But you know what I'm gonna do? I'm Just gonna leave the arrow thing in here, so you can just pre order it. So if you guys are interested. It's here. It's in the link.
Speaking of stranger things, we also got a Stranger Things 85, which is the new series full trailer.
I'll be honest with you. I think it looks stupid. I think it. It makes the world smaller.
I think it adds. Adds more questions. Again, when you add in these things that didn't exist in the show and it's like, well, why didn't we see that? So I just, I. I actually felt really kind of disappointed. I thought they could have done something like, here's the other numbers.
Here's what they're doing. Show me. It's not in the comics on a book. Just show me in an animated series. It's cheap. But instead, this looks like a money grab where all the actors continue to go on, tell you a bunch of adventures about things you never saw, they never talked about.
Stunned to me.
[00:47:10] Speaker B: I can see that.
[00:47:13] Speaker A: So any. Yeah, that's it.
[00:47:16] Speaker B: No, I. I have nothing to say. All right, that's fine. That is. That's a very valid point, my friend.
I. Because they keep telling us we're gonna get more from that world. But then I was surprised at this too. I heard that Robert England is voicing a character in this a second and
[00:47:33] Speaker A: I'm sure there's probably cool stuff. I just.
We'll see.
[00:47:39] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:47:40] Speaker A: Trailer didn't do anything.
All right. Wheel of Time, which has kind of just been having a bunch of problems. You know, nobody really seems to kind of stick with it, but it's getting a new life as an animated show as well as a PC mobile game.
Yeah. It only lasted three seasons in live action, but it is one of the biggest game or sorry. Series ever made. A fantasy. So we're going to be getting an rpg, which is an AAA open world role playing game, as well as animated series.
Yeah.
[00:48:17] Speaker B: I watched the first season of the show.
I liked it. And then it got canceled. So I didn't watch the second season.
So I jumped back on board for this.
I'm sure my wife would love to watch me play that video game. So. She loved that. She loved that show. So.
Yeah.
[00:48:38] Speaker A: Yeah, I.
I'm excited to see the video game. I'm excited. To be honest with you. It's just intimidating because again, I think it's like 13 books more than that.
[00:48:47] Speaker B: I think.
[00:48:48] Speaker A: You think so? I think like, hold on, I'm gonna look.
[00:48:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:48:53] Speaker A: Because his. He died and then his son took over so Robert Jordan with Brian Sanderson. Sorry. Brian Sanderson came in and did the last three installments.
So 14 volumes.
That includes a prequel novel and three companion books.
So, yeah, I think he only really did 11 or 12, and they added in a little bit more to flesh it out.
I've also liked to read.
[00:49:22] Speaker B: You could do it.
[00:49:23] Speaker A: Brian Sanderson stuff, which is also intimidating to read.
[00:49:26] Speaker B: I. I believe in you. Actually, there was a humble bundle out not too long ago in all of those books for $18.
I should have gotten at that point. Did I?
[00:49:35] Speaker A: Right.
You tell me.
[00:49:37] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:49:38] Speaker A: You tell me.
All right. And then continuing the adult animation track a little bit with Powers, Brian Nichols Bendis's book with Michael Avon, Omeg, which, if you guys remember, came from Dark Horse. We got a weird PlayStation TV show when places.
[00:49:58] Speaker B: Yeah, that's. That's what it was
[00:50:01] Speaker A: with Charlotte's old Copley, you know what I mean? So, yes, PlayStation TV lasted about 12 seconds and so did that. That's right. Hey, now we're in the Animated Series to kind of bring you guys back and see if you can get back into that comic.
[00:50:19] Speaker B: Do we need to.
[00:50:21] Speaker A: This is why I say at the end of every episode, go read your comics, because it all comes back around
[00:50:31] Speaker B: defunct Boomerang.
[00:50:33] Speaker A: It really is crazy. All right, Harry Potter Skin the TV series. To reboot the whole thing. We got our first teaser slash trailer.
Did you watch this?
[00:50:47] Speaker B: I did.
[00:50:48] Speaker A: What do you think?
[00:50:51] Speaker B: I was sitting next to my wife, who thoroughly just did not enjoy it, and I was trying to be positive about it. And then I listened to what she had to say, and I. I agreed with every point that she said.
I.
What did she say? She said, she's like, we are we. She says she already has a Harry Potter.
She already has a Harry Potter, and she can go watch those at any time. That this.
This did nothing.
Nothing to excite her.
[00:51:23] Speaker A: Who.
[00:51:24] Speaker B: She loves Harry Potter. And I'm not a big Harry Potter fan. I like Harry Potter. And, like, I got some, like, all right, we're going back in the Harry Potter world as a TV show. Like, I'm there for it, I guess. But then also, like, I've heard things like how the author wants to use the money from it to do stupid things. So it's such a. I don't know. It's hard. It's hard for me to get excited about something that.
I also really enjoyed those movies. And when I watched this trailer, the stuff that I saw was just like, a lot of them.
I don't know. It didn't make me that excited.
[00:52:02] Speaker A: So we'll see how Harry Potter turns out.
And, you know, I'll be there.
We'll make the changes. But I agree with you about J.K. rowling. She's a piece of, of human garbage. And I also don't want to give her any more of my money. So it's, there's that double edged sword. It's a double edged sword.
[00:52:23] Speaker B: All right.
[00:52:24] Speaker A: Finally in TV news, we got X Files casting. We've got our.
Are they even called Scully and Mulder or are they just completely new?
[00:52:33] Speaker B: I'm not really sure. I haven't really read into it too much and I'm hoping they're not.
[00:52:38] Speaker A: No, it says new original character. So we've got Daniel Deadweiler is.
Sorry, Danielle Deadweiler. She will be partnering with Himesh Patel for the H. For the Hulu series.
[00:52:56] Speaker B: Have they said if it's set in a different world? Like, is it, like, what are the details for the show? I haven't, I've not really read into it and I kind of don't want to because the more I do that, I'm gonna be like, oh, all we
[00:53:11] Speaker A: know right now, dude, is that it sounds like a reboot. Like they're getting assigned to the X Files, these two characters in the world that we live in. I wouldn't be surprised if it's like, oh, there's some stuff from a molder and Scully in here. You know, I, I would not be surprised if they decide to do that. But Chris Carter's coming in as well on ep and so I just.
[00:53:40] Speaker C: We're good.
[00:53:41] Speaker B: I'm good. It's Coogler.
[00:53:43] Speaker A: I'm good. Yeah, we're good. It's Coogler. It's Carter. We're good. All right, so let's jump over to movie news.
Speaking of people we trust, Mike Flanagan.
He's added to his Exorcist cast that stars Scarlett Johansson. But now John Leguizamo is coming over there as well.
Again, do we need another Exorcist? I don't know.
[00:54:06] Speaker B: I know.
[00:54:07] Speaker A: I love Mike Flanagan.
[00:54:09] Speaker B: That's it. If it wasn't Flanagan, I'd be like, who cares? Who would he be on here?
[00:54:13] Speaker A: Pretty much.
Pretty much. Yeah, you're right. We probably wouldn't give a. But we do love him. So, like John Leguizamo as well.
[00:54:22] Speaker B: Oh, for sure.
[00:54:24] Speaker A: We've got ourselves a scary movie 6 trailer.
I didn't watch it. I did not watch it. And that's only because I'm probably just gonna watch the show and I. I just don't. Or. Sorry. The movie.
[00:54:37] Speaker B: And yeah, I watched it. It was. It's funny. Like, it's. It's good. To get back to spoofiness, I also, I just watched screen 7, which wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. And then it was. So.
[00:54:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
And then it was okay.
[00:54:55] Speaker B: And then it was.
Yeah. So I don't know. Whatever.
[00:54:59] Speaker A: It's.
[00:55:00] Speaker B: Scream's still coming out. Scary movies need to be coming out. So we'll see how it goes. All.
[00:55:05] Speaker A: All the.
[00:55:06] Speaker B: All the OGs are back.
[00:55:07] Speaker A: So I.
That's it. You know what I mean? Like, fine, whatever.
[00:55:12] Speaker B: We'll watch it.
All right.
[00:55:15] Speaker A: We've got a new Game of Thrones movie in the works.
This is the story of Age Aeons Conquest, which had started off as a development in series, but now we're going to be possibly getting a movie of it.
It's supposed to be a huge new feature written by Bo Williman, who did andor in House of Cards.
[00:55:41] Speaker B: That.
That sounds pretty good. It does sound pretty good. Yeah. It's. I mean, we've only gotten TV shows from the Game of Game of Thrones world, so a movie will be awesome. They can just put even more money into it.
[00:55:57] Speaker A: Yeah. I think, honestly, last year, Warner Brothers had the biggest year at the box office financially, as well as, you know, awards with sinners and weapons and whatever else it put out. And this year and next year are also looking to shape up as we'll continue. I'm just going to stay with Warner Brothers. Right now we've got an announcement of Lord of the Rings written by Stephen Colbert.
I'm on the fence with this announcement because we've already got this Gollum movie that's coming, which is going to be in the time of Lord of the Rings. And then we also have this movie that's supposed to be about, like, Sam's Daughter, written by Colbert, which again, I think takes place during Lord of the Rings. And I'm like, is it though?
Because when you read, like when you watch the video of them talking about it, Peter Jackson and him, he's like,
[00:57:01] Speaker B: I'll tell you what it is. No, I know. I know what you're saying.
[00:57:05] Speaker A: They've announced it as a sequel. But then when you hear them talk about it, it says it takes place during.
[00:57:12] Speaker B: I know.
[00:57:12] Speaker A: So I. I'm confused because.
[00:57:14] Speaker B: Don't be confused. There's chapters in the. In the original novel that they did not tell, like Tom Bombadil and stuff like that. Right.
[00:57:20] Speaker A: I remember that.
[00:57:21] Speaker B: This will include those. How? I don't know.
But this is. There's Untold Stories from Fellowship and the, and the trilogy that is going to be a part of this movie.
Flashbacks, maybe, but the, the main writing is a sequel because he's talked about how the other hobbits are grown up and in this.
[00:57:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I've read that too. So I'm just. We'll see what it ends up being. But again, in, in canon.
Lord of the Rings sounds good.
[00:57:53] Speaker B: In canon. Peter Jackson world. Like Gollum is, right?
[00:57:56] Speaker A: Yeah. Doesn't sound good. Great for me, but everything else sounds good.
[00:58:00] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:58:01] Speaker A: It's like we already know what happens to Gollum. Why do I need to see the Hunt for Gollum?
[00:58:05] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't really.
[00:58:07] Speaker A: This is dumb.
All right. Dune 3 got a trailer.
I didn't watch this trailer because at the top of this, I said I went to go see Project Hail Mary. I missed the trailers and I didn't watch this one. What did you think?
[00:58:24] Speaker B: It was good.
It's good.
[00:58:27] Speaker A: What does that mean?
[00:58:28] Speaker B: It was good? I, I, I. Because I get pissed at myself every time because I, I'm like, I'm gonna go see this on imax and I don't even go see it in theaters, so. And I watch it on my tv.
Some still hoping that they put out the other ones with this.
I love these movies. So I'm excited.
And this, this looks even crazier. And this will be the last movie for, for what's his name?
[00:58:54] Speaker A: Danny.
[00:58:56] Speaker B: Yeah. And so will it go on after this with more Tales? But, yeah, I'm excited, of course. And I will go see it in theaters. Probably not.
[00:59:10] Speaker A: I will definitely see Dune in theaters.
My TV screen ever.
Yeah, I'm there. You know, that's it. I'm there.
[00:59:23] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:59:24] Speaker A: Did you watch this trailer for Deep Water?
[00:59:28] Speaker B: I, I don't even know what this is.
Is it a shark movie?
[00:59:31] Speaker A: It is a shark movie.
[00:59:35] Speaker B: I haven't heard of it.
[00:59:36] Speaker A: Yes, it's Rennie Harlan who directed Die Hard 2, Cutthroat island, one of the nightmares. I can't remember. But anyways, Rennie Harland has been making big action movies forever.
This looks fantastic. And I cannot wait for it. It looks completely ridiculous. It's a mix of disaster with shark and. Oh, he directed Deep Blue Sea. So, I mean, like, it just looks fun, which is.
[01:00:06] Speaker B: Oh, he did Deep Blue Sea.
[01:00:08] Speaker A: Yes, he did. Oh, I mean, you definitely know Rennie Harlan movies. He he does a lot of big ones.
[01:00:13] Speaker B: Well, I don't die or two.
Yeah, the.
So this is the Ben Affleck Anna de Armas movie or. No, no, no, that's a different one.
[01:00:24] Speaker A: No, this is Ben Kingsley and Aaron Eckert.
[01:00:28] Speaker B: Did I see that?
[01:00:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:00:29] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:00:31] Speaker A: So anyway, looks fun.
[01:00:34] Speaker B: I have to watch this other deep water movie now.
[01:00:36] Speaker A: Yes, discovered different.
Yeah, this is gonna be a lot different than that one.
[01:00:43] Speaker B: Just with sharks.
[01:00:44] Speaker A: That's the sharks.
Things that can punch sharks.
Schwarzenegger probably back. He is back with Christopher McQuarrie to do a new Conan the Barbarian movie. We finally are getting King Conan.
We've been hearing about it forever, but this time it looks like Macquarie's jumping on.
Christopher McQuarrie has got an insane track record. I would not be surprised if this movie is freaking badass. And I can't wait to see more from what those two come up with.
[01:01:19] Speaker B: Yeah, they just had to wait for him to age. Right. And it was into this role, the old, old King Conan from the end of the movie. Right. So it's perfect timing.
Yeah. And I. They're just throwing pitches at him for these other movies. Like we know he's gonna probably come back for a Predator movie of some sort.
[01:01:39] Speaker A: Well, so.
So yeah, let's talk about it. So not only are we getting a King Conan, Arnold said that they approached him about doing another Predator as well as a new commando.
So hey, people are back in the Schwarzenegger business.
I'm down. Especially since Dan Trachtenberg asked him to come back.
[01:02:10] Speaker B: Well, yeah, I mean that's, it's wild. I mean that added extra scene of Killer of Killers with, with Dutch in there. So we'll see like even if it's an, even if it's the sequel to that and they do like this big like turn of it.
Yeah, that'd be awesome. So yeah,
[01:02:31] Speaker A: I, I cannot wait, cannot wait to see what we, we hear. And we'll keep you guys posted on that one because. Very, very exciting.
All right. Another trailer we got was Outcome, which is a new Christopher or sorry, Christopher Reese, Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, who we haven't seen in forever. Matt Bomer movie. It's this new dark comedy which again just kind of looks like this weird ass random movie that Apple's putting out with. And I, I cannot wait to see what, what this is all about.
[01:03:02] Speaker B: Okay, I didn't, didn't hear about this.
[01:03:06] Speaker A: They just keep releasing movies that you just don't know about.
[01:03:09] Speaker B: Yeah, well, this is another company that doesn't put anything out on disc. Right. Because I was looking for. Right. I feel like they don't.
Because I was trying to find Legacy of Monster Season 1 on 4K and it wasn't out.
Interesting.
[01:03:26] Speaker A: So we'll find out what that means.
This trailer I just watched called the End of Oak Street.
It's with Ewan McGregor.
Just watch the trailer. It is this weird.
It's JJ Abrams bad robot produced.
So that right there will give you an idea of what you're in for. It does not at all look like a Cloverfield movie. Even though I do know there's a new Cloverfield movie coming out this year. So I don't think it's this.
But it is a weird sci fi movie idea. And so maybe they'll figure out a way if it is a Cloverfield movie.
[01:04:09] Speaker B: But yeah, they're pretty clever about that.
[01:04:11] Speaker A: They are clever about it. So watch the trailer. See what you think.
We've got a not even just a little news bite that we're supposed to be getting a sequel to the Last Starfighter.
I finally watched that movie for the first time last year. It was a fantastic sci fi movie. I don't know how I missed it for the last 40 years. And so hearing this sequel news, I got a little excited. Just sounded like a great. Sure.
Figure out how to do it, do it right.
[01:04:42] Speaker B: Everything needs a sequel.
[01:04:43] Speaker A: Everything.
[01:04:45] Speaker B: Not really.
[01:04:45] Speaker A: Just like this. Sky High New horizons. What?
I remember going to see this movie when you lived in down in Olean or Allegheny. Did we all go see it together?
[01:04:59] Speaker B: We did.
[01:04:59] Speaker A: Yeah, we did. Yeah. So Sky High. Twenty years ago, you and I saw it with Aaron, I think. And now we're getting a new sequel. Kurt Russell's back. The kids are back. Danielle Panabaker's front and center on the COVID So, yeah, there's a new Sky High.
[01:05:17] Speaker B: Awesome. Yeah, I just.
I. Kurt Russell, man. And it's like Kurt Russell's great. He's just keeps on ticking. Like I watch Monarch and I'm just like, this is. This is a gift to watch him and his son in the show.
[01:05:32] Speaker A: And he put out.
Him and Tyler Sheridan put on a new show that's supposed to be awesome.
[01:05:37] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Michelle Pfeiffer. Yep. Yeah, yeah.
[01:05:41] Speaker A: So that's out too.
We're getting a Cliff Booth.
We knew the Cliff Blue sequel was coming out. We got that trailer. But now it's official in August, so.
[01:05:52] Speaker B: Too far away.
[01:05:52] Speaker A: It's gonna hit. I'm okay. It's coming, but we know it's coming.
And then also we knew this was coming. But Donnie Yen, his Kane character set from the John Wick world, when he got introduced, they had announced that they were going to get a movie going with him. And now we're finally getting off of that.
So we will see exactly how that's going to work out, you know what I mean? And find out with Matt Matson Tomlin, who did The Batman Part 2. He's taken over the script.
[01:06:29] Speaker B: Oh, fine.
Yeah, I'll watch it. Donnie N the John Wick universe.
[01:06:37] Speaker A: That's it, right? Yeah, that's it.
[01:06:39] Speaker B: That's all. That's that.
[01:06:40] Speaker A: I'm in Donnie Yen all day.
And then finally, in movie news, Super Mario Galaxy is coming out next week. By the time you guys hear this, you may even be seeing it.
They decided to drop this ridiculous spoiler on. On a poster instead of revealing it in the movie. But now we know that Glen Powell will be voicing the character of Fox McLeod, aka Star Fox.
You know what? We're gonna go into gaming news. Yeah, I. I feel like let's just kind of talk about this. But it's a good transition. It's a good transition because Zel, or, sorry, Mario Nintendo itself announced a bunch of things this weekend, including this. So first of all, what did you think of this?
[01:07:35] Speaker B: This is. It's awesome.
I think it's great. I think it's a really smart way to do it since it's Super Mario Galaxy the movie.
And this is exactly the kind of fan service that we all deserve.
And what we also deserve, and I'm sure you're gonna bring this up, is a new Star Fox game.
[01:07:55] Speaker A: Yeah, I.
What I'm most excited about is it's not only a new Star Fox game, but like this world is about to open up. I think that Mario going into the galaxy is their way of opening up the cinematic universe. Because you have Star Fox.
God knows that Samus is out there doing her thing somewhere. You know what I mean? And there's other franchises that we haven't touched upon. And who knows, maybe the post credit sequence is them stepping into an arena and it's smash for the next movie. I don't know.
[01:08:36] Speaker B: Exactly. Just shut up already.
Now you've got me. Like, if Samus around doesn't show up in this movie, I'm. I'll be really disappointed. No, I'm. No, I'm actually at that point now. Thanks for.
Thanks for ruining my year.
Yeah. Or making it brighter. Not sure which. Yeah. Dude, if they, if they even hint at Metroid, like this is what Metroid needs to be. Is needs to be a psycho CGI animated movie. It's the only way to do something like that within a good budget and to make it look awesome. And yeah, now you. Yeah,
[01:09:15] Speaker A: we'll find out exactly what that's all about. But. All right. And then continuing on with gaming news.
In addition to Star Fox 2 or whatever the hell they call it, 3 3D, Zelda is back with a reboot. Ocarina of Time is supposed to be coming out this year.
What does that mean? I don't know. They've tried it. They did it. Sorry for the 3Ds and it had a little bit of quality of life upgrades, but this could be a full on remaster from the ground up. And given that game, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they do with it.
[01:09:53] Speaker B: I expect no less at this point.
[01:09:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:09:57] Speaker B: So listen, I'm sorry but, but the Switch 2 has been lackluster of like really like original releases. So where are the original releases? That's all I'm gonna say. There's supposed to be a new Mario game coming out. But you didn't. You launched a system with Metroid Prime 4 basically as like one of your Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong. Right, Which I've heard is great, but. Yeah, like they're not selling.
[01:10:21] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I a thousand percent agree. And we shall see what this all means because we're still in gaming, but this is a little bit more tabletop.
GI Joe Rumble at the Rift, which is GI Joe's hero scape is due out. This game looks sweet. Going to be $65. Cobra versus the Joes dice little characters.
It's fantastic. It looks fun. And I never got to play Heroescape, so maybe this is my time to do it.
[01:10:53] Speaker B: Smart idea.
[01:10:54] Speaker A: It is very smart idea. They're so smart.
We talked about this before, but Scott Pilgrim X EX is out. We'll leave leave the link for the Steam here so you guys can snag it. It is also the summer the spring sale over at Steam, so you might even be able to get it slightly cheaper.
Slightly cheaper.
I left a link in here. Tech deck, tech check. Thirteen is our friend Sean Pinkerton who did a lot of the defat entertainment stuff. He's reviewing different pieces of technology and you know, little shout out to him and his friend who've been going through and reviewing like in airs VR glasses and like different pieces of technology like that. So here's a link to their first episode.
[01:11:51] Speaker B: Cool.
[01:11:52] Speaker A: And then finally Dungeons and Dragons which has been going on Forever. They are bringing back modules.
For a long time, Dungeons and Dragons has been here's a full campaign, like, you know, Assault at Waterdeep and all that kind of stuff. But they used to do modules and now they're finally doing it where it's just a one adventure. You can drop it into your campaign. You can just play with your friends for three or four hours without having to go to one of the third party sites, which is where we all go now, like.
But now you can actually get it officially from Wizards of the Coast.
[01:12:29] Speaker B: Ah, this is what those are. Cool. What a good idea.
[01:12:33] Speaker A: It is a good idea since so many other companies have been making money off of D and D models for years to finally do it themselves. So that is what we've got for the show. Chris, tell the people where we can find us.
[01:12:47] Speaker B: We're in a little website on the engineweb. It's called don't forget ital.com. it's your source for all things geekly. And you can check out the show links here and there, everywhere.
And if you're on social media, unlike me, you can hashtag dfat ent. That's D F A T E N T. Hashtag, hashtag social media.
[01:13:11] Speaker A: That's it. Hashtag, hashtag, hashtag. This is Casey saying, thanks for listening. Go read your comics.
[01:13:17] Speaker B: And this is Chris saying, don't forget to tell
[01:13:23] Speaker A: it.
